Soop, I hope you haven't been upset by the -kerfuffle-. It seems that someone doesn't get what your lovely kitchen is about.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Jun-24 13:49:11

soop I apologise if my previous post 10.15.55 seems abrupt.

I will not mention the kerfuffle again.

I hope Mr.soop has an encouraging appointment.

soop Wed 19-Jun-24 12:59:38

Thank you, gillgran.

Gardener has spent four busy hours digging up stuff and tidying the overgrown rockery. Great job! He'll be back.

Mr Soop with the dermatologist. After which, he has to report back to the GP.

I shall watch some tennis this afternoon. Andy Murray put on a good show yesterday. I was well pleased.

gillgran Wed 19-Jun-24 12:23:41

Yes, soop, kerfuffle does describe all the deletions on this friendly group, also, as LLFL says someone playing silly b.....s!
We mustn't let it derail the thread & the warm & kindly folk here.
Hopefully GNHQ will see that mistakes were made.

I send my warm thoughts to you all. x

soop Wed 19-Jun-24 12:22:47

In a nutshell...I am extremely dismayed (and angry) that our Kitchen, which has, for several years been a peaceful and supportive refuge for many, is suddenly under siege. I would very much appreciate a simple explanation from GNHQ.

AGAA4 Wed 19-Jun-24 11:27:24

It does make me nervous about posting now. I saw some of the deleted posts and they were just pleasant and chatty. I have seen much worse posts on other threads.

Grandmabatty Wed 19-Jun-24 11:10:13

I suspect it has been someone who lurks but doesn't post. However that is an assumption and I have no wish to malign lurkers! It's all very sad.

cornergran Wed 19-Jun-24 11:08:07

Agreed ann. Hopefully there person on speed dial delete will be bored soon and it will all stop. Sure is a weird one.

annsixty Wed 19-Jun-24 11:03:44

I am totally gobsmacked , in a tizzy and whatever else seems appropriate.
I didn’t read Urms post but I did read Nn’s post but it was so innocuous I can’t even remember it.
I can’t find the deletion of Corner’s but like the other posters I am sure it would have been of daily doings and observations.
I don’t think GNHQ have said enough but I don’t believe they will add to it so we must just make our feelings known to them and carry on.
Leaving, for me, is not an option.
I care too much about the kitchen.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Jun-24 10:15:55

Urmstongran is not banned.

She feels hurt and extremely angry that GNHQ decided to delete a post, at the behest of an another poster who has the privilege of anonymity, which conveyed nothing but care and kindness to another poster.

Unfortunately the kindness of our dear soops kitchen has been infiltrated, and I know I will be careful from now on when I post.

GrannySomerset Wed 19-Jun-24 10:11:15

I regard being deleted over this nonsense as a compliment. Does Gransnet really want us all to leave or could they consider the motives of the complainer(s)? Perhaps a March on Parliament to demand Urms is reinstated? It’s all too tiresome but I am seriously considering leaving and know I am not alone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 19-Jun-24 10:01:36

Maybe someone is playing silly b*****s and reporting posts at random?

TillyTrotter Wed 19-Jun-24 08:42:14

This is all very baffling and disconcerting!

cornergran Wed 19-Jun-24 08:14:31

Just had a look back. It seems I’ve joined the deleted gang. Wonder what I said. A kerfuffle it surely is. Hope it passes very soon.

RosiesMaw Wed 19-Jun-24 07:47:06

Kerfuffle is the word!

You may or may not wish to thank Rosie for the fact I am still here! Scrolling back through the thread I was horrified at the number of deletions and had composed a long reply.
Then Rosie needed out, the kettle demanded to be boiled and introduced to a teabag and by the time I had come back upstairs I had calmed down!
I cannot believe for a minute that the many kind, caring, sympathetic people who frequent Soop’s Kitchen have been reported by their peers.
But let’s not kick over a hornets nest and cause further upset.
You all know who you are and what you are worth to all your friends and if anybody thinks otherwise, they know who they are.
End of.
So sorry to hear Mr Soop will need further painful treatment - and perhaps a reminder to anybody whose DH goes bareheaded in the sun like a couple I saw yesterday in open topped cars, especially where their hair is receding or receded, get him to wear a hat. A Panama can be very dashing or a sexy battered straw titfer like Monty Don grin

soop Tue 18-Jun-24 23:37:09

PS A group hug for Urms. [

soop Tue 18-Jun-24 23:36:20

Goodness gracious me! I am having great difficulty understanding what all the kerfuffle is about. Our Kitcheners are, in my humble opinion, the most level-headed and kindly people on Gransnet. I trust that having voiced my honest opinion I will not be reported and banished to the naughty step. wink

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Mr Soop's poorly scalp. Yes, he will need further surgery. He's to see the dermatologist tomorrow. We'll then have a better idea of what's in store.

Youngest son, soon to celebrate his 50th birthday, surprised us with a text this evening. He and his partner are coming for a weekend visit in early July. We are thrilled. Our pal in the village has agreed to put them up, which is greatly appreciated.

The gardener is to visit us tomorrow. He will hopefully advise Mr Soop on the best way to manage our garden. We created it twenty years ago from a heap of rubble as it was at that time a building site. Recently, it has, in certain areas, become somewhat out of control. When we were both younger and fitter, we spent many happy hours tending it. hmm

I'm away to my bed. I wish you all sweet dreams. I shall return again tomorrow evening. smile moon]

Lins872 Tue 18-Jun-24 23:05:45

and Neine !

Lins872 Tue 18-Jun-24 22:59:32

Wow lots of us have had our messages deleted in the last few days by gransnet HQ when we are only supporting one of our own. Urmstongran 🤷‍♀️

SueDonim Tue 18-Jun-24 22:52:55

I’ve just caught up with Kitcheners and I am both shock and angry at HQ’s post. How dare they delete Neine and me and many others! I feel as though I’ve been polluted now and am not sure I want to be here any more.

TOYA esp those with troubles. Xxx

NannyG4 Tue 18-Jun-24 22:22:29

Just popping in for a nightcap, non alcoholic of course!! I really hope things can settle down now and our dear Urms will return soon.
I'm sorry there are still some of us with worries, health or otherwise and send you all fondest love and strength.
My DH is still at the hospice, peaceful and comfortable, but its heartbreaking to see him so weak and poorly, not able to stand on his own, a shadow of himself.... The staff are amazing, one of the nurses gave me a soothing hand massage yesterday'.....

It so comforting to be able to sit quietly in Soops Kitchen snd feel safe... Thankyou to you all.
Much love to esch and every one of you.... Xx

Nannytopsy Tue 18-Jun-24 21:43:45

Hello the kitchen! I have missed all the excitement but I was sorry that GNHQ were not keen to put right what so many of you felt was an error.
We have the two local DGC here for the second night. Dad’s working and Mum has been looking after her nephew while his little brother makes his entrance to the world. Another early start tomorrow!
soop I do hope himself can be helped very soon.

brook2704 Tue 18-Jun-24 20:08:28

Hope Imogen’s last day at school and her last GSCE go well tomorrow Jax and good to know her new meds are working well

Thanks grannmarie the eyes are getting much better now, sounds like you had a lovely day out yesterday, happy memories made!

Grannmarie Tue 18-Jun-24 19:36:10

Crossed posts, Jaxjacky! Good luck to Imogen for tomorrow's exam.
I bet you can hear the grass grow now. I had my ears "irrigated" recently at our GP surgery, it makes such a difference. Sorry to hear that you had to pay so much.

Grannmarie Tue 18-Jun-24 19:30:09

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
I'm sorry to hear that MrSoop's scalp procedure was not completely successful, here's hoping that more can be done to help him. Poor man. Thank you Soop for the beautiful sunset photo.

Neine, your outfit is beautiful, you will be a very elegant bride. I had a JV ensemble for DS1's wedding, loved it!
I, too, read your earlier post and have no idea why it was deleted by GNHQ.

Also,
Candidly, to us, the post did not read as supportive...
from GNHQ about Urms' post, baffles me when so many Kitchen folk feel that it was?
I'm feeling a bit discombobulated by all this in our special Kitchen TBH, I hope normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. I agree with Cornergran, we need to move on.

Grandmabatty, well done! You are indeed Supergran. Your wee grandsons are growing up with wonderful memories of great times spent with Grandma.

Hope your eyes are a bit more comfortable now, brook.

Glad you enjoyed your day out, Annsixty. I often doze off after a big day out, have to follow it with a more restful one.

We've had a very busy spell, DGD and Grandpup for a sleepover on Saturday then family visiting for Father's Day, good to see them.
This was Grandpup's first overnight here and she took a while to settle down for the night. She is not Granddog, I still miss him, but she's growing on me. Walking her was tricky with my wonky knee!!

Yesterday we had a big day out, we were invited to visit The Wee Boy and his Mummy, Daddy and lovely Granny down at their holiday lodge at Southerness. We went to visit beautiful coastal gardens, enjoyed a meal then ended up on the deserted beach making sand castles and flying the kite. The Wee Boy can make a good attempt at flying it himself now. DH couldn't manage the beach with his mobility scooter but he watched and waved from the decking. We were on the beach till 8pm, nice sunny evening, perfect. Long drive home !!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening, thinking of Doodle, Baggs, NannyG4 and all with worries, illness or sorrow. TOYA, NNGB.
