I liquidise old citrus fruit and use it as a soup , watering it in areas where I've recently dug .
I sometimes put down a few grindings of black pepper ,chilli and /curry powder .
Strategically placed kebab sticks or holly sprigs help too .
Rosemary , lavender , lemon balm , thyme and pennyroyal and marigolds are disliked by cats .

Please be aware that pennyroyal is a dangerous plant and causes miscarriage if ingested by a pregnant woman .
Years ago , it was often used abort unwanted babies .

But has anyone tried the spikes on the fence as I suggested? Cats couldn't even enter the garden if you had those.

I have had spikes on the fence, spikey twigs in the earth, citrus gel, pepper, chilli and three sonic things (because of the shape of the garden). I have filled bottles with water, planted lavenders and rues, lemon scented plants, mints and thyme.

I have not installed an automatic spray that detects movement - I have given up.

I couldn't put spikes on my neighbour's fences of course - and can't justify (or afford) the cost of 172ft of secondary fencing to put spikes on that.

Oh no! You may have got it from contact with cat poo whilst gardening but equally you may have got it from eating rare (cooked) meat, which is potentially more likely.
The thing to be aware of is if you have any condition in the future requiring you to take immunosuppressants (steroids), to remember to inform your Dr that you have toxoplasmosis antibodies. There is a rare but significant chance of it developing into clinical acute toxoplasmosis, which is life-threatening.

What a load of old wives tales. Some people are wasting too much of their lives fretting over a non issue. Spikes on fences? Coffee grounds and citrus soups made from leftovers. Get a life or get a cat!

I get Deer in my garden I try to shoo them off but they look up at me and carry on eating my plants. I use gardening gloves because Deer carry Lyme Disease which is a concern. They jump over my fences and there’s a lake which they swim across. I wasn’t aware they do swim until I actually witnessed it.

Years ago a neighbour had 5 cats and I swear they held PooParties at the end of my garden! Holly was my go-to deterrent in those days. Luckily I had lots of the stuff. Nowadays she only has one cat (a beautiful little thing) but I have 6 solar deterrents and they work. Sadly, they don’t deter the foxes.

You can buy lion poo on line. I suppose it comes from zoos. It’s sort of dried so doesn’t smell when you get it. Works brilliantly

We use these strips scattered around plants (fence wall security spikes intruder repellent. They seem to help. They are made of plastic and will not injure the cats, but will make it difficult for them to walk over and dig into the soil. Got them from EBay, but I'm sure you can get them from Amazon and other sources. I also scatter orange/satsuma peel around flower beds as apparently cats do not like citrus smells.

Buy a product cslled “ Get off my garden” - yes, really!!! Is is a jelly like substance very highly citrus scented, and it will deter cats and foxes and no doubt many other animals if you sprinkle it around the perimeter of your garden. It really does work, I used it to deter a neighbours cat from spraying in my porch , much to the annoyance of my cat, who retaliated by spraying inside the front door! My sister used it extensively as she had a lot of roaming cats in her neighbourhood, which she hated!

Cats don't like the smell of a banana skin...cut one up and scatter it...I do this every time I have a banana..it helps

We tried laying prickly branches from, I think it's called, a berberis bush but it's didn't do much to stop the problem. Recently the two main cats that used our garden have become too old to climb the fence so it's much improved as they now go in their own garden. As the old cats don't visit, I now let the dog out and she's chased off all the other fit young cats. The greatest benefit is that I now have loads of birds coming into the garden and they don't seem worried about the dog patrolling.

Picnic forks "planted" in the garden with tines up may work. Used to be plastic but I don't see why bamboo ones wouldn't work as well

we are just cutting up branches from our holly tree and rosemary bush and bought two of the sonic devices. I may get a few pots of lavender and move them around. we have a huge lavender bush and just bought another smaller one watch this space!

A dog is the answer, as RosiesMaw says. No cat problem here!

Luckily my own cat uses my raised beds for a toilet so not an annoyance for neighbours. But as it was an inconvenience for me I have provided him with his own raised bed. I collected his own poo an put it in his bed and bought some Lion Poo to spread on my other beds. It seems to be working and doesn't smell like you would imagine.

It's not half as offensive as entitled free roaming cat owners thinking their pets have more right than the people who just want to enjoy their own gardens without being in danger of contacting diseases because of the amount of cat shit in it. It's heartbreaking that you spend time and money planting food just for some selfish twats cat to come and dig it up and crap on it.
