Oh Bluebell you need to get cracking on that children’s book! Cedric is having so many adventures! I can imagine the look of shock on his face - probably similar to my cat when he fell in my bath recently! 😂

Silly Cedric
I heard an almighty squark just after I got home today ran out thinking a big bird had come in the garden, but no, silly Cedric whilst exploring in the sun, had fell into my garden pond it’s only a small pond about 8 ft by 5 and about thigh deep (depending how tall you are) it’s overhung by lots of plants and a bottle brush shrub and there he was, in total shock squawking at the top of his voice. I was just working out which end to step into when he started swimming (amongst the duck weed) and scrambled with the help of a plant pot that’s in there (with some water plant in) up to safety he scurried into his shed looking very shocked
Well he may not be able to fly but we know he can swim

He looks more robust than Steven did.

I wonder if he'll have the ability to remember you when he's grown?

I've read that ravens can remember someone for years and hold a grudge if you upset them...

I know Cedric isn't a corvid, but still...

I was wondering about Cedric earlier today, but couldn’t remember the thread title to look it up. I love reading your updates BlueBelle, you’re doing a wonderful job!

Thanks BlueBelle. I love the updates on Cedric. He’s doing so well under your care. Well done for realising he wanted wetter food. You will have to start introducing him to ice cream, sandwiches and fish and chips, the staple diet of the grown up seagulls!

It is so heart warming to see Cedric progressing so well. You are doing a great job. We have two sets of 'seaglets' where I live and two of them are still doing a lot of begging and making a lot of noise on the roof of a neighbours house. The other one has started to exercise his wings and is trying to 'fly up' and down the roof with mum and dad encouraging them by demonstrating. So wonderful to watch.

He is adorable and I love his little webbed feet! Thank you for the pictures, BlueBelle, and the glimpses into his routine in your yard! I watch for your posts everyday.

He is a beauty , you have done an amazing job with him, mot long now and he will hopefully be soaring away.
Mind with the 5 star treatment he gets at home he may become a permanent lodger 😄

Well I had a few difficult days with Cedric as he stopped eating only had a peck or two then walked away I was thinking is he ill, have the big birds been traumatising him while I m not there? Is he depressed, I don’t know can birds get unhappy?

But I think I ve solved it after watching him pick up a piece of bread and putting in his ‘pool’, before he ate it I thought maybe he needed wetter food so I ve been mixing some water in with his tuna and he’s eating well again it was obviously too dry in the warmer weather …..problem solved
He’s loving the garden in these last few warmer days we’ve had, and has started climbing into my plant pots to curl up
(not doing my plants any favours)
He has a VERY large garden plant pot saucer for his bath/ paddling pool and a smaller one to drink from and a couple of upturned pots as his adventure playground
He likes eating out my hand too and often tries to get a foot in my back door He’s fantastic at catching bits of bread I throw to him rarely missing

Oh BlueBelle, I remember your previous thread...think I wasn;t around for Steven. They really are a family of loose morals, posting their young down for you to look after

Perhaps he thinks it’s a comfy nest despite your efforts to make him a nice bed.

How funny!!

Bluebelle I lived for years in a maritime city with a great history and a once-great fishing industry.

I can remember when the seagulls relocated to the huge rubbish tip (luckily not near us).
They are scavengers now rather than fishers, who will eat anything, even pinch the sandwiches out of your hand or an icecream.

They are survivors!

What,a shame we can't post short little videos.
I'd love to see him jumping up and down, doing his flying practise.

Seagulls have bad press they have been denied their main diet their natural diet of fish by the over fishing of stocks, couple that with, dare I say it dirty humans who don’t seem able to walk for more than ten minutes without eating and then chucking the remains in over loaded bins.
Seagull fly all the way to the Atlantic and then arrive back at their same chimney or rooftop the following year (from someone who can get lost in her own road that’s a great achievement ) They mate for life don’t divorce or mess around with others and are good parents to the point of hurting anything that gets near their baby.
although there seems millions they are endangered
They are very territorial and have to be to survive they do only kill for a reason territory, danger, food ,protecting their young, unlike humans who seem to kill for pleasure
