Good Morning Friday 21st June 2024

Good morning from a bright Bristol. It would appear the second day of meteorological summer is going to be pleasant.

I finally managed to renew my house insurance after about 10 unanswered called, two forays on the net… a very nice man finally helped me on the phone!

I went early toDD’s for dinner, where DS and I cooked it - well, I did everything, DS did the final assembly and grilling. It went down well with everyone, even the mega-fussy girls ate it! Success.

DS surprised me with a suggestion we should go away on Monday or Tuesday for a few days! We decided on the Peak District. Never been there. Despite having lived in the UK for over 50 years, I haven’t visited many places here. As the Indian embassy has taken DS{s passport to renew his work permit, only the UK can be visited…

My last Spanish class today, then a bit of fiddling about and rest are on the books today.

Off to Llandudno later this morning to a bead weaving class with DD - not something Ive tried before and it looks a little fiddly but I give most things a go before slinking off in defeat 😂

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is up in South Yorkshire and it’s going to be warm. Had a lovely long ramble around the woods with the walking group (16 of us) yesterday and there were two long flights of deep uneven steps to be tackled. I was pleased I could still do them. After lunch with DD I visited Whinfell Quarry Gardens which also involved a lot of steps and steep paths. Too late this year to see the azaleas and rhodis, but being basically a huge rockery there was a lot of colour and interest. I do love rock gardens and this is one of my favourites.
Food shopping this morning and volunteering this afternoon.

The photo shows the brief few hours of sunshine in La Ferté Bernard yesterday morning. We had a severe weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain last night but nothing materialised. It sounds like the weather is more settled in the UK! It was warm enough for us to sit out in the evening for the first time since arriving here!

Great excitement yesterday teatime: DH emptied the mailbox and I’m delighted to discover that Torbay Council has fulfilled my request for a postal vote to be sent here! I’ve voted and we shall post it today in the SAE provided! Brilliant!

A holiday in the Peak District sounds great, grandMattie - some stunning scenery and interesting towns to visit such as Ashbourne and Bakewell.

Good morning from the South Downs with a lovely sunny start to the day.

Nothing particular planned although we might stroll out this evening by the river. Summer evenings are the best I think.

Garden in full blossom - the roses are incredible this year, I suppose it was all the rain.

We have nepeta in the garden -beloved by the bees, but also all the cats from the entire neighbourhood pay it a visit and sit in it enjoying it, blinking in sheer delight. Only Tofu ignores it. He is his own cat!

Good morning we have lovely clear skies in Oxfordshire, yesterday we sat out in the garden for breakfast, lunch and dinner, something we don’t do very often.

MissOops continues to improve, we are trying travel sickness tablets at the moment to try and control the nausea, she is still being sick, just not so much, the pills from the hospital haven’t worked. Anyway at least she is slowly getting better.

Dog is nudging my leg to go out, but she only wants to go into the front garden, she saw a cat there yesterday and wants to go and find it amongst the trees and hedges, as the front garden isn’t fenced she can’t go. Maybe a rabbit will pop up in the back garden to distract her, let’s hope.

MzOops is in Glastonbury giving a talk, she’s camping so I hope it stays fine. GS is in London collecting his visa, I hope it goes smoothly, he put his application in on Tuesday so fingers crossed, Summer School at a University in China awaits.

Good morning from bright and sunny South Lanarkshire.

We got home quite late from looking after DD’s gang and now we’re up and about to get off to Edinburgh to do the same for DS. It’ll be an early night for me.

DD messaged earlier to say that the security queues in Glasgow Airport were horrendous. They left home at 4.40 for an early flight so that must have been stressful although I think nothing will dampen their spirits as they’re off the Wembley this evening.

I’m rushing so I’ll just wish everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a cloudy Cornwall, a nice break from the heat. Spent yesterday morning at my jungle allotment and cleared some paths. My herbs are the best ever and I came back on the bus with a bouquet of oregano, marjoram, rosemary, lavender and curry plant. The aroma was gorgeous. I also acquired two big mozzie bites where my tee shirt and jeans had parted as I bent over. Cheeky wotsits.

Today I'm deservedly as stiff as can be so will just have a bus jaunt somewhere.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry but cloudy. GrandMattie a few days away in The Peak District sounds lovely. Baubles I don't miss those security queues! Ash that's a lovely photo. Blue skies make everyone happy.
Yesterday I had a good day. I got all the washing done and hung out and dried. I nipped to Tesco for an anniversary card for dd and Dsil and picked up coq au vin and tarte citrone for my dinner. I also contacted a couple of care homes for mum and arranged to visit them. In the afternoon, one of my neighbours popped round for a chat. Then I dropped off the card and some wine to dd.
Today dd and dgs2 will come in after playgroup so I'll have his soup ready for him. Later this afternoon I'll go to one of the care homes. The lady I spoke to on the phone yesterday gave me such positive vibes, I hope it's the same when I see it. It is in a small village five minutes away by car and would be handy. I think I might have a fish supper for dinner later. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a Glasgow, where it is 15°C. Unfortunately we are expecting showers today.

Yesterday was full on after looking after an adventurous Babydoll and a very wheezy Dollie. She is off to Portugal on Monday, (we used to go with them 😔), so we are hoping that her emergency steroids kick in quickly.
I put her to bed for a sleep, because she had been up all night. After five minutes she reappeared, saying had had a sleep (!!!!). Unfortunately those blooming steroids were making her hyper and ravenous into the bargain.

To our great delight, our drunken sailor, Babydoll, (there is no stopping her walking now) clearly said Dollie's name for the first time. Dollie of course was ecstatic.
I have never had my two girls at the same time, without their parents being present. My heart was bursting with joy.😍

I was sorry to read Blossoming is taking a break, but I can understand why people do so. Sometimes for me, it is hard to be upbeat on this thread, when live is proving difficult and troublesome. One doesn't want to moan and spoil this lovely thread. N.B. I'm not saying that is Blossoming`s reason for withdrawing, just how I feel.

Off early today down to the Brighton area for a weekend of fun and dancing to a Columbian Band to celebrate my DS’s 50th Birthday. 💃🕺🎂. Staying on for the following week to help look after the DGSs whilst DS on Book Tour. We will definitely need a holiday after that to recover!

Good morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire which is it a bit sunny baubles!, grey and quite windy with possible/probable rain in the forecast

I won’t be here for it anyway since after a dentist appointment am off to Giffnock to look after DGD for the weekend while DD takes DGS to Liverpool for a dance competition. He’s in a team and absolutely loves it!
Dad is in Germany with two friends and one of their sons, in their camper van. No matter what they are loving their trip and exploring a country which is new to them. It’s called being Scottish😊!

DGD would rather have come to me but cats need fed etc so needs must. As long as I don’t mention the word ‘museum’, I’m hoping we will visit the Burrell Collection and perhaps the Degas exhibition.

We will go out for lunch on Sunday, it’s so nice when they reach that stage isn’t it?

Off to the gym first thing, the I intend to sit in the garden with my kindle till school/pre-school pick up of the 9yr old and The Imp. GD was impressed with sports day, but hey ho it was hit and sunny and DiL put the world to rights, I am so lucky with my DiLs they are so lovely and kind.

Of to the local Malaysian restaurant for dinner tonight with DH.

It's my birthday today and DH and I are going out to lunch after visiting an antiques centre first.
I saw the doctor yesterday about my persistent cough and hoarse voice and she is referring me for an urgent ENT appointment. I must admit I didn't sleep too well last night.
Lovely pictures yesterday of DD1 in all her finery for her school prom. She looked stunning, all grown up.

I have my weekly hair appointment later after which I might watch some tennis. I was not happy about Alcaraz being beaten yesterday even though it was a Brit who beat him.
