As I have a postal vote I voted last week I think. Totally forgotten about it until the Andy Murray match and interview finished and some mention was made of the TV coverage. I will not be watching! Britain has huge problems and I haven't seen anything to give me any hope that this new inexperienced government will do any better than the last.

Ch 4 just about to start.

I will find out soon enough tomorrow and there is nothing I can do to alter it so might as well try and have a decent nights sleep!! I have done my bit, voted about 7.15am , later gave 2 people a lift to the polling station as they had no transport . The endless waffling on and on about who or what is going to win etc is just guess work and trying to fill in time until the results are in and pretend it is very exciting and up to the minute.

I’ve always watched the coverage (before I fall asleep) on BBC1 but I think I’ll try Channel 4 tonight as there will be a little occasional light relief from the Goggleboxers.

That's my plan. I will go to bed early and put the TV on in the bedroom. I may well nod off at some point, but am likely to wake a few times and catch the rolling headlines.

I need to be up and presentable for a Zoom meeting tomorrow morning, so I can't force myself to stay up all night as I've done in the past.

I hope the Gogglebox crowd are on good form

I've been working for weeks for our Lib Dem candidate. I have been to the count in the past, but nowadays I think I prefer to have the option of putting my feet up and having a snooze until about 5 am when our result is expected.

I’m out to bingo & wine with a friend and won’t be back til after 11pm - so ideal for me as I haven’t missed one since I started voting in 1974 and we over18s were allowed to stay up to watch at our students hostel.

I’m a floating voter, never been on the winning side and I suspect any win for me will come from bingo!

I'll stay up for the exit polls and then have a good night's sleep.

I’ll be going to bed before midnight as I’ve a long drive next morning for DGS’s 3rd birthday! The result will be the same whether I hear it at 0400 or 0900.

I love this, real politics geek - I even took my transistor radio to school (hidden in satchel) to listen at break time to the 1964 results - few came in overnight then.
But like others, I tend to go to bed, then get up 1-2ish, doze, watch TV, and make toast & tea.
They have had difficulty recruiting tellers in our neck of the woods, and we've been told the results may be later than usual.

They used to recruit bank staff to count the votes because they were speedy, but I suppose so many banks have closed and we have cash machine dispensers that there are few counter staff left.

Do you mean you’re counting no chickens that you won’t be able to stay awake, or that the Tory incumbent will lose his seat?

I mean not to stay up, but it’s been predicted that our current Tory incumbent will lose his seat and I may not be able to overcome the urge to see it happen.

Though having said that, I am counting no chickens!!

I’ll probably watch until I get sleepy, around 11.30 - 12.00 usually. I wouldn’t dare put the television on if I go to the bathroom because my nice Mr Maddy turns into a very grumpy Mr Grump if his sleep is disturbed. As soon as I wake up in the morning though, I’ll be watching. Mr Maddy is an early riser so he’ll already be watching downstairs. I might well stay up here all morning as we’ve got the plasterer coming tomorrow and Friday. I’ll be out of the way up here.

I will probably be awake. I usually am, and tomorrow night I'm on my own, so might go to bed and watch it there.

Is someone starting a thread on here? I'll happily join in if so - these things are more fun when watched in company.

I think it's hugely obvious that Labour will win so too much of a spoiler for me!

No thanks. Too depressing. The Tories are bad but Labour even worse. There is no party I want to vote for. Just have to suck it up whoever gets in.

At the last general election, the exit polls strongly suggested that the Tories had won with a large majority.
I stayed up for about an hour then went to bed absolutely delighted.

This time though, it’s all too depressing.

DH will be up most of the night but I need my sleep. He will crash about some time to deliberately wake me up as usual. Nothing I do will influence the result and we will know soon enough.

I wish we could have a bingo conservative card.

I might go to bed after the exit poll is announced and get up about 2-3 on the other hand I might not be able to sleep at all and end up like a wet dish rag on Friday travelling on holiday.

I’m having trouble sleeping already. Hope I’m not so tired by tomorrow night I sleep right through it. I want to be awake to hopefully see our lovely Labour candidate defeat the current Boris Johnson adoring Conservative.

I stay up late anyway, so will watch some results. From about 2am, I may rouse myself to see some results I’m interested in, but I doubt I’ll stay awake all night. I’ll rely on my early bird husband to tell me anything crucial when he wakes me with morning tea (which won’t be before 9am).
