Quite so. I've seen politicians referred to as scum and some quite unedifying comments made about their supposed character traits. From both sides of the political spectrum. And certainly observations made about their appearance.
Boris Johnson attracted a lot of flack in that respect, and he was certainly body-shamed. IMO he did sometimes look scruffy - like he'd just come from a pillow-fight in a dormitory. But, that apart, I believe he has an unfortunate body-shape - which results in whatever he wears just not fitting correctly, and that's not his fault.
