It was sunny when I took my coffee and crochet outside , but I might have to give up and trail everything back to the living room,
No Mass in our chapel on the first Sunday of the month , so candles will be lit later

I bought nearly everything I wanted yesterday and booked myself onto a workshop next month. I’m looking forward to that. I made a nice sandwich for my tea and settled down to watch a film about a horse.

Today I’ll tidy up the patio. It’s not raining at the moment so I hope it keeps away while I do the tidying. I might do some sewing. I’m making myself a long dress.

Fill my basket, I wondered why ‘basket’ was at her bottom of my post, it had moved itself, honest.

Good morning from a ‘dry at the moment’ Oxfordshire after torrential overnight rain, I was awake anyway, but it was very noisy.

A quick trip out after lunch to restock with bird seed and pop into Aldi to see if their version of Marmite is like the old recipe for proper Marmite, which has changed for the worst even though the makers say they haven’t changed the recipe.
It doesn’t bother me as I can’t stand the taste, but MrOops loved his Marmite. I’m sure I’ll find other thing to fill my .

We will then collect the Dog for her overnight stay.

In the meantime I’ll sort out the airing cupboard and maybe give it a coat of paint, the bathroom will be started on soon so it might be a good idea to do it now.

I have a whole new avian report as I gaze out of the window at the receding tide. So oyster catchers, red shanks, cormorants, black headed gulls and myriad others all entertaining me.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers, northwest coast. Well, this ‘summer’ is a drag, today I’m off to lunch and a gallery by train and wondering if I’m going to be warm enough in my new long cotton skirt. Can’t think of anything else to wear, so will put some semi opaque tights underneath it🙄

Yesterday very quiet, washing outside in the breeze and did my once every three months bit of ironing. FaceTime with old friend who only talked about herself and finished the Bridgerton series in the evening. Pleased to hear my DD’s ear has unblocked itself. As she flies and two lots of antibiotics hadn’t made a difference, I was pleased to hear her news.

DD and family are coming for a late lunch (6ish, roast beef), not really nice enough for the GC to play in the water but will see what they feel like doing.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, but showers are forecast from mid-morning onwards, so it will be another day indoors.

Did not do a lot yesterday, except make scones in the afternoon; I was pleased with how they turned out and enjoyed one with butter and raspberry jam - sadly I didn't have any cream, but when I was at the shops on Thursday I didn't know I was going to make any! I shall enjoy another couple today, and the rest are already in the freezer.

No plans for today. Roast chicken for dinner tonight.

Good morning and it’s bright but chilly here in Essex.
We had thought about heading for our Suffolk bolt-hole today , but the weather and being around for Dd has thwarted us. All being well, we’ll go next week . 🤞.

Yesterday seemed a long day, I couldn’t really be bothered to get stuck into anything and the frequent downpours added to the lethargy. I managed two shortish dog walks to blow away the cobwebs. Tennis is amazing but I can only watch so much!

Dd and DGD will come for lunch. DGD used to love her swimming lessons, but since going up a class finds it a struggle. She doesn’t want to go! What a shame!

Liberty what a wonderful trip for your DGD. She’ll remember it all her life.

I’ve just found a big fat slug on my new dahlia plant. He’s already eaten a small hydrangea. I’m afraid I’ve sprinkled the slug pellets around. Enough isenough!

Grey and cool again, summer has really abandoned us this year I fear. Lovely concert last night in our beautiful church, given by two local choirs who sang a great range of songs. Service today is in the next village so will be there, then back for the tennis, hoping Emma Radacanu can emulate the English football team and keep our hopes alive at Wimbledon. Hope everyone has a good enough day.

Good morning from Durham. Bright and breezy, although rain forecast and a maximum of 17.
I’m having a lie in and an easy day after a slip in Morrisons where I executed an almost perfect splits! I’ve pulled the hamstring in my right leg - not serious, but it’s a bit achy this morning. Advice is rest, ice and painkillers if needed, so that’s PlanA for today.
I’m going away on Wednesday, so I might start and get some stuff ready for that.

I have a cold! It's the first one I can remember having since baby Dancing GD gave me a corker more than 20 years ago. Then, I picked her up after her nap and she was just so full of it. I said "Oh poor baby" and she leaned back, gave me one of her lovely little smiles - and sneezed full in my face! There was no escaping those germs and the result was the worst cold I ever had! So bad that it gave me 20 years' immunity! Anyway, this isn't anything like that - just strange to have one. But then again, given the weather .........
Today I shall be off soon down to Tesco's to get the major shopping out of the way early in the week so that I can concentrate on preparing for a Royal Visit from my little great grandson next weekend. He's crawling now, and into everything. It will be such a joy to see him! But it's a very long time since this old house has accommodated a little crawler so adjustments will need to be made.

Good morning from a dry but definitely chilly Suffolk. Rain is forecast later…what a surprise.

DS and tribe( his word not mine) are coming later and I expect we’ll hear all about DGS’s friends birthday party yesterday which was at an indoor racing track…..10 year old boys’ idea of heaven. He won a prize for the fastest lap….there were 12 at the party. We have a photo but I expect a second by second account.

At the other side of the country DGD2 flies off to Cape Town tonight on a school netball,hockey and rugby tour. There are about 100 16-18 year olds and she is super excited. The itinerary looks wonderful with trips to Robben island,a safari and surfing trips as well as the sport matches.

They each had to raise 50% of the cost which she did by babysitting in their neighbourhood and saving her pocket and birthday money.

My keep fit teacher,who has a daughter of the same age said she thinks the summer after GCSEs is the best one ever….no worries really about the results and full of excitement about the future. So sad that for some youngsters life isn’t so positive and easy.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's cloudy and cool.

I was gutted yesterday when there was a heavy shower to find the ceiling is dripping again. This is after the roofers have supposedly finished the extensive (and expensive) repairs.
The roofer says he'll be back today but it's so depressing.

Quaker meeting here - in another room, and then my cousin and I have been invited to a friend's garden party.

Mizuna I feel your frustration but soon you'll be leaping about again. 💃 🕺 🏋️‍♂️

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey and cool Carlisle.
Yesterday was sunny though still not very warm and it was rather breezy. I took an early trip to the recycling centre with various bits of rubbish that have been accumulating including builders' rubble I have excavated from the garden, a sack of soil and gravel containing the roots of an aggressive spreader I have banished...etc. The garage is looking tidier but I haven't finished with it yet.
After lunch, I spread lawn food over the dry front lawn and prayed for rain to spare me from getting the hose out. I was rewarded by a heavy shower later.
I had hoped to be watching the Raducanu/Murray match but was sadly disappointed. Later, I managed to watch the Tour de France and the penalty shoot out at the same time!
Today, a quiet one with the papers and some urgent admin. Later I will watch the cycling and possibly a film in the evening.

Yesterday was a bits and pieces day. I watered the garden, went to Aldi and did some housework. But the apricots didn't get turned into jam and my healthy dinner became pie and beans. I went to bed very early too as I just felt low and out of sorts.
Today I will make boeuf bourginone in the slow cooker, apricot jam in the jam pot, do an ironing and visit mum. Have a good day all.

We enjoyed a walk along the beach yesterday to Chanonry Point for dolphin watching, we saw quite a few and then warmed up coffee and cake in the beach cafe. Not sure about todays plans yet, if it’s dry I’m hoping to get on with the gardening and DH has an outside drain to try to unblock.
Won’t be long until you’re marching along that beach mizuna early days yet though!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
