Very well said Bluebelle nothing in particular from me, just enjoying the day pottering about having been for a nice walk in actual sunshine 🌞

What a nice uplifting thread Bluebell. Very well received especially with all the political stuff going on at the moment. 🌸

This isn't really anything to do with the original thread, but came to mind when reading Marmin's post, who is a grandfather.
It's just occurred to me - do Mumsnet welcome men who are doing the childcare?

I go to a Presbyterian church where they only have male pastors and before that I attended a Baptist church- same. I like the old traditional ways personally.

What about the greater number of women priests. Women tend to be the carers and attend to pastoral duties... (incidentally, my DD is a vicar)

I also read in the paper that fewer and fewer men are involved in any church, so how about abolishing or, at least seriously reducing, this age-old patriarchy?

I'm going to my DGS's graduation
tomorrow. I'm so proud of him as he's had his struggles but kept going
even when things were tough.

Our useless local MP has been toppled by a LibDem, Frank Cottrell Boyce has been appointed Children's Laureate and our youngest daughter and her family, whom we haven't seen for nearly two years, are arriving on Friday, the oldest grandchild's eleventh birthday. Ooh, and the cortisone injection into a nerve in my back seems to have worked. So much to be pleased about.

I'm heading to London on Thursday, hopefully seeing Stevie Nicks at Hyde park on Friday, meeting my daughter on Saturday to see Moulin Rouge. Just sitting in coffee shop at the moment treating myself to an americano, a rare treat. Nice thread
🥰

Lovely to have a positive thread. Thank you.

In hospital last week I shared a room with a lady whom I discovered I had so much in common with you would think we were twins. Even her sons looked like mine! A friendship blossomed over two days and we're planning to meet up as soon as our new knees allow. I have many good friends, wasn't expecting another, and to find an unexpected one is such a blessing. We talked so much the nurse came in at 1am, turned our lights off and told us to 'Please get some sleep, you've just had a big operation and need to rest.' 😂

Cossy Mon 08-Jul-24 11:20:37

I’m sitting here with three very naughty mini sausages squashed up against me, fast asleep. Sipping tea, watching Wimbledon! (Me, not them)

Feeling good after fabulous weekend away with our friends 😊

Wishing each and every GN a fabulous positive week.

It's great to have a positive thread. There is so much good around which often gets overlooked by all the political and worrying news . I so admire people like those above doing a tractor run to raise money for good causes.
I'd like to do something big for charity, if I could find something I could cope with at my age/back problems.
Would anyone like to push me in a wheelchair from Lands End to John O'Groats, please? Or similar? grin

Freya5 Mon 08-Jul-24 09:47:28

My brother, and his friends did a tractor run around the Lincolnshire border, raising above their goals, money for the Air Ambulance and children's hospice. Did another one yesterday for local children. Great fun and worthy causes.

Bumface Mon 08-Jul-24 09:41:51
