I don't follow football but glad I watched. Since most of Europe seemed to be en fête today, and here in France le quatorze juillet/Fête Nationale was being celebrated * and the air and the night sky was filled with the sound of music and enormous fireworks, it was tempting to watch the match. The temperatures dropped a little, the wine stayed chilled and even the Cigales/cicadas eventually shut up. Glad everyone enjoyed it.
* 'Bastille Day' is an English name not used here by the French.
What a wonderful bunch of Twinkletoes are the Spanish team. The youngest player was superb, together with Williams (good old Spanish name? 😉) and I think that England did a good job in mostly managing to contain them. But sadly, not quite good enough. I reckon the better team won but that England's success in getting to the final was well deserved. Love Southgate ( hate the shouty, inane t.v. commentaries) and really hope that English football benefits from the example he sets and all the efforts he has made.
Night Urms and Himself, sleep well, and well done, England!
