Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but dry at the moment here in brackley .
Today a slight change of plan , I have rearranged my telecon with the canonical nursing team to take place this morning.
So my usual routine will see me getting a later bus to Bicester for my usual shop and meet up with those i know.
Followed by lunch at watching the Tour De France on TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Mick
Hope your day goes to plan. It is not actually raining here but threatening to do so. Have washing ready to go on line but dont know if it is worth putting it out. Very weary today, went over to see my son and family at the weekend and finally made it . I managed to deliver their christmas presents!! My grandson rather enjoyed opening unexpected parcels of course. But it was a long trip and my back is not good, and my leg looks swollen and is hot again so have to keep an eye on it. Dont want to have cellulitis again. Going swimming shortly and then shopping after. Swimming is the one exercise I can really manage . They have a chair to put me in the pool and it usually helps with back pain. Hope it works today!

Good morning Mick from a damp north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿- I expect more of the same for the next forty days…🤬

Well I was bereft yesterday morning…no afternoon 🎾 or ⚽️ to get me motivated to do some domestic goddessing before settling down to sporting activities - viewing not participating of course🫣

Never mind TdF 🚵 catch up later and the olympics are soon to begin - you’d never believe how unsporty I was at school, always last to be picked but I’ve always admired talent and dedication (just wish I’d been blessed with an ounce of either…🤦‍♀️)

Out to hospital appointment with Mr PG this morning and hope everyone who’s going through health issues has good news coming 💐

RosesandLilac Tue 16-Jul-24 06:18:36

Good morning from dull, damp and dreary south Glos, I just hope we’re not in for another 40 days of this ☹️
I gave the kitchen a good clean and tidy yesterday while the rain hammered on the windows, a dismal day here. Luckily the dog and I had a dry early morning walk, she enjoyed chasing her ball .
I have started another crochet blanket, I’m rather enjoying the very simple pattern and using Aran yarn.
We lit the wood burner in the afternoon; it felt more like October than July 😵‍💫
Nothing in particular planned for today, I have a number of bits to do.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning all from soggy South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was a mix of glorious, blazing sunshine and monsoon like rain. No idea what’s forecast for today.

Our afternoon tea yesterday was average at best, a little disappointing. It really shouldn’t be difficult to put together a decent spread.

Today I m meeting my other Lanarkshire gran friend, looking forward to seeing her.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Welcome madeleine if you’re new to this thread, apologies if you aren’t. smile

Grandmabatty Tue 16-Jul-24 06:21:42

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and damp. Looks like heavy rain in the night and more is likely. Pantglas I hope your dh appointment goes well. Madeleine enjoy your swim.
Yesterday I was so tired all day. The boys were good and the feeling of nausea disappeared, thank goodness.
Today will be similar to yesterday. Dgs1 has a class all week at Grangemouth athletic stadium in the morning. I bought the boys small Lego kits, so we'll build them later especially if it is very wet. Have a good day all.

Ashcombe Tue 16-Jul-24 06:24:32

Good morning from a brightening one in Torbay.

Yesterday, I was concerned about two contrasting incidents in the park opposite where I live. About 8.30 I saw a middle aged man get out of his car to relieve himself against a very mature tree, in full view of the rest of the park and overlooked by several homes! It’s something seen occasionally when we’re in France but that’s the first time in the 10 years I’ve lived here. Luckily and unusually, nobody was around.

Later, another middle aged man was sitting on one of the benches in the rain, rocking back and forth for quite a while. Eventually, he collapsed on the footpath. A few people walked by and ignored him. While I was on the phone to reach the ambulance service, some kind folk turned up with blankets and were obviously ringing for help. It took about 30 minutes for an ambulance to arrive and the patient, still unconscious/asleep was taken to hospital but not under blue lights.

No time to gaze out of the window this morning as I’m back to see the Props team at the theatre today where we shall be busy returning items to store after last week's production.

Have a good day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from s somerset, wet until noon and then sunny

I cut all the bits for my coat yesterday, it was a tiring job, I had to concentrate hard. Today I will get the thread colour sorted and the top stitch thread needs to be found, will do all the interfacing etc and try not to be put-off by the welt pockets, my first sewing job on this coat. Maybe I will do them today, get it over with

Bread is already baking and I have just done a bit of worktop re-jigging, I noticed some tiny marks, which would only get bigger and I cannot touch them up so have un-earthed a pretty worktop saver. I have no intention, ever, of renewing the worktop so must look after it. Furniture wax might do it but that would wear off quite quickly

It is pouring down now so I will be abandoning any tentative walking plans this morning

Have a good day

Good morning from a wet South Downs.

Yesterday early evening it was monsoon like, and today rain all day is forecast.

We are off to Chichester to meet DD, DGS and his partner. We are eating out to celebrate partners graduation. Rather grateful not to have been invited to the actual ceremony (Southampton) as they do get a tad tedious - not to take away any of the hard work all the young have put in over the past few years!

Thought we would leave earlier snd spend the day there as it is going to be wet so will potter around the cathedral, and choose a gift etc for the graduate.

They both are now working. DGS in electrical engineering (computers) and MOD work and partner in education, but as a psychologist working with severely disturbed children who board, so it does mean that she is working nights and days. Don’t envy her, her job as she has incredibly sad stories. Those poor, poor children.

For the next following 3 days we are promised full sun - so will make the most of it - what a dismal summer we are having.

I might invite my sister over for a barbecue on Friday if she is free - see how the weeks pans out.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony

Good morning from Cornwall where it's cool but sunny. Marydoll, my two apple trees have one fruit each and my pear has none. No idea why!

Eldest son plus his friend, their sons and two pals went wild camping and swimming near the Helford River over the weekend: the photos are idyllic. Yesterday I went on my own adventure in town and survived so I assume I'm on the mend. Today I was planning a longer bus trip but my daughter-in-law is coming round with lunch so that will be nice. Haven't seen her for a couple of weeks but am happy to have visitors now I'm getting my mojo back.

Bellasnana Tue 16-Jul-24 06:48:15

Good morning from Malta where the heat is getting a tad too warm for comfort.

I went with DD3 to pick the boys up yesterday and they had done really well, no tears. I stayed at theirs until they had their nap. I miss our mornings together but am much happier now they are settling.

I’m babysitting this afternoon whilst DD3 is out. I love being with them.

Pantglas there was tennis yesterday afternoon! I watched Rafa and Ruud playing doubles in Bastad, Sweden. Rafa is playing today against Bjorn Borg’s son Leo so I will be watching.

Sorry your afternoon tea was not as expected baubles, I bet it wasn’t cheap either.😞

Glad you felt better Grandmabatty although being so tired must have been a struggle. Hope today goes better for you.

Ash how nice to live opposite a park but not so good to witness such happenings.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

GrannyGravy13 Tue 16-Jul-24 07:10:50

Morning all, we had heavy rain, light thunder and lightning last night, no idea what the weather is doing today, I have given up on summer!

I will change our bed first thing, then I am off to have a manicure and pedicure. This afternoon I must pack for my three days at DS’s with my beloved teen GS’s. I a, taking clothes for all weathers, hopefully spend time in the beach, but who knows?

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

kittylester Tue 16-Jul-24 07:16:42

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where has been raining all night, is still raining and looks set to rain all the day.

I have to complete my DBS renewal today and then out for tea and cake with a friend.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 16-Jul-24 07:20:03

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Gloomy and cloudy.

Yesterday's coastal walk was lovely. The photo shows a swan and 2 cygnets. The sun shone and we enjoyed fish & chips and icecream in Eyemouth 😋
The rain stayed off until late afternoon.

Chiropractor this morning and a catching up day with house things.

Karmalady you are a domestic goddess!

Mizuna there had been a marked lack of nectar due to the cold spring. Bees are suffering so that could be a reason for less fruit. so my beekeeping friends tell me

I'm glad you made it to your DS Madeleine and hope your back improves.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Jul-24 07:24:05

A quick morning all from Helsinki!

I think we’re going on a boat trip today.

Have a good day.

brook2704 Tue 16-Jul-24 07:29:14

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another grey start to the day. Yesterday afternoon turned out really warm and sunny so hoping for the same later today
Pleased you’re feeling a bit better grandmabatty, enjoy your day with the boys
A busy day ahead with both dentist appointment and a hairdressers appointment, I’ll be pleased when both are done.
Good to hear you’re getting out and about mizuna, you’re doing so well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Tue 16-Jul-24 07:41:09

Good morning all and it’s sunny here at the Suffolk seaside.
Rain and gusty wind in the night which woke me up, but I love hearing it while snuggled up in bed.

Still no mower , hopefully they’ll deliver it back today. 🙄.
We’re having a bed delivered this morning . They’ve given us a two hour slot time for arrival, which is very acceptable. Better than waiting in all day.,

WHM2 my DGD had her graduation at southampton last week too.

Our friends are holidaying up here this week so will meet up with them. One couple at their Lodge, o another couple in a camper and another in a self catering place for disabled . We all used to caravan holiday up here when the children were young, so it will be memory lane for us.

I hope you all have a *good’ day whatever you’re doing.🌸

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Jul-24 07:42:36

Morning from a brightening S Hants, it poured an hour ago, I hope your swim helps madeleine.
Yesterday was busy on the phones, I’ve admin from that to sort in a minute, then an early trip to the butcher in the village to collect an order. We must be bonkers as we’ve friends coming for a tea time bbq, it should stay dry, but cool.
Rather disconcerting Ashcombe.

Good morning all from a wet Black country nonstop rain since early yesterday afternoon.
Hairdressers today and I need to look for a present for friends granddaughter.
Madeleine I'm glad you finally met up with your son and family, hope the swim helps your back.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, don't forget your brolly☔

BlueSapphire Tue 16-Jul-24 07:47:31

Good morning everyone from a very damp and soggy Northampton; torrential rain yesterday and more forecast on and off today. Not sure whether I shall make the health walk this afternoon.

At least I managed to cut the front grass yesterday, although it started raining about half way through the task, but I was determined to finish, and was decidedly damp by the time I got back indoors!
Spent the afternoon reading; after dinner I was so cold I put the heating on. Never done that before in July!

A morning of pottering about the house, then after lunch maybe a health walk or an afternoon of reading. Really enjoying Kate Atkinson's 'Transcriptions'. I also plan on making a large batch of Bolognese.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

luluaugust Tue 16-Jul-24 07:48:17

Good morning from a bright W Kent, thunder and lightning last night.
DD1 arrived safely and so begins a week of outings and family meet ups.
madeleine Hope your leg improves soon.
Ash we often feel we are at the theatre looking out of our living room window.
Hope your day goes to plan Mick
Best wishes to all

Marydoll Tue 16-Jul-24 07:55:12

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 12°C and showery.

Where is Mattie this morning?

Grandmabatty, glad to hear you felt a bit better .

I had a really enjoyable day yesterday with the Ebay Queen. I swore I would not buy anything, but got a pair of pretty Lotus sandal, never worn and still in the box for £12. Of course I got home, absolutely wiped out, but it was worth it.
For ages I have had a notion for herring and new potatoes, but there has been none available. Much to my delight, the fishmonger in the village, we were visiting had some in the window, I bought it all, some for dinner and some to freeze. When I was a student and working very long shifts in the Knorr factory in the summer holidays, my mother used to have herring and new potatoes ready for me when I came home exhausted. It always brings back memories of those days.

Baubles, the volunteer started to tell us about their other charity shops, including yours, 🤭 suggesting we visit them.
Have an enjoyable meet up and please say Hello from me to the other gran.

I'm trying to decide whether to summon up the energy to go into Glasgow to the Swatch shop to get my watch fixed or just potter about. Yesterday took a lot out of me.

Have the best day you can folks.

Liberty Tue 16-Jul-24 07:58:15

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk further up the coast from Gingster where,if there was rain and wind in the night,I didn’t hear it.

Off to meet a friend for coffee and probably our usual cheese scones in a nearby market town and then I’ve some work to do this afternoon for a meeting I’ve volunteered to do tomorrow afternoon. It’s not my usual one but they needed a volunteer to be quorate so I offered.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Taichinan Tue 16-Jul-24 08:00:06

Good morning all. Thick fog on the Angus coast today - now that the temperatures are above freezing! There is no end to the miseries of this summer.
No time to chat today as I'm off to tai chi shortly so I'll just wish you a good day for now and pop back to read later x
