Good Morning Thursday 18th July 2024

Good morning from Bristol; it is cloudy but we are promised sunshine and warmth today.
Yesterday went well. My friend came to visit to see if he liked the general layout of the complex and its setup. He is 90, widowed and his family has been on at him to get somewhere more suitable than a 6-bedroom house! I think he liked it.
In the afternoon, we had a less than sparkling talk on Tuscan towns; he had been given about 24 hours notice, to replace the speaker who had pulled out. I think that COVID was the culprit - it seems to be doing the rounds atm.
Today I just have tai chi. DD has asked me not to come as her life was “complicated” tonight.
I hope that poor holly has had the help she needs, and everyone is safe and in acceptable condition.

Today would have been our Ruby Wedding anniversary. Thank heaven for happy memories.

Managed to go to the bank yesterday and was dealt with by such lovely people it was worth the very hot walk!

A/c in the bank was wonderful then I took myself for a coffee and fizzy water before DD3 messaged to say she was going for the boys early as they were not happy, so she picked me up en route and I stayed until they went down for their nap. Littlest wanted to be rocked in the rocking chair so I was more than happy to oblige.

I have a lot to do today so will try to get it done before collapsing in a sweaty heap!

Good morning from a cloudy Cornwall with sun to come later. My patio looks glorious as the honeysuckle is cascading over it from the wood above, like Rapunzel's hair. The aroma competes with that of fresh coffee wafting from the café next door; an interesting mix. Today I have plenty of ivy-trimming to do to get my topiary back into shape.

Yesterday I ended up at my library craft group in mid Cornwall. So lovely to see everyone. They were doing Indian patchwork but I took my box of chains and my tools and made an asymmetric necklace. No more meetings till September.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny warm South Yorkshire. I came back from writers group yesterday, had a cup of tea and cut the front lawn. I have ants nesting under my front door step. All efforts to remove them have failed and yesterday was the day a great many of them chose to sprout wings and fly, so I couldn’t use the door for the rest of the afternoon. I’m hoping they’ve gone today. Walking group this morning. I’ve missed a couple of weeks so it’ll be good to get back to it. Lunch with DD and then home to do a food shop.

Weather here is unpredictable mornings and afternoons sunny nights heavy rain.
Yesterday I got the steamer out and cleaned all the windows.
Pleased with result.
My sad news is we no longer have a cat she had lost so much weight.
Vet was going to give her more blood tests but she was too weak.
No more pets it's so sad when you have to say goodbye.
DH is taking me out today no idea where don't think he has either lol.

Good morning all, there is a haze over the sea, it is already very warm.

Yesterday was good, the weather was glorious, my spa treatments were just what I needed. Lunch with my GS (16 next week) was fun, he is so relaxed now school is over, and we had lots of laughter and yummy food, in the sunshine overlooking the sea.

I am enjoying the quietness before waking up the 14 yr old and getting him out of the door for school.

It sounds like the twins are in a very caring nursery, Bellasnana. A poignant day for you. 💐

My appointment with the physio was useful yesterday as she confirmed I have a sprained right ankle with some ligament damage, dating back to a fall in Lerwick in May. This has made my arthritic right knee worse and I’m having twinges from my right hip, resurfaced in 2005, which wants to join in the fun!! A steroid injection has been booked for the knee and a sheet of exercises supplied to strengthen the ankle.

She is an excellent physio whom I’ve seen twice now and really inspires confidence with her thorough approach and concern. Sadly, I’m unlikely to see her again as she’s in line for promotion which is well deserved and I was pleased to leave a very positive review of my experience.

By the time I reached home, I was shattered and went to bed for an hour which helped to rejuvenate my energy and I slept surprisingly well last night, hence a later post than usual!

Good morning all from an already warm and sunny North Leicestershire.

GD we have ants outside the kitchen window which was wide open as it was such a lovely day. Yesterday was their chosen day to fly - it was like an enormous cloud rising from the ground. Luckily, I was able to shut the windows before too many spotted the opportunity.

Not too much on the agenda today - that doesn't happen often so I will relish it.

Good morning from a sunny South Downs. Another sparkling day is forecast.

Yesterday my DS popped in after her latest hospital appointment. She is going to start a monthly “infusion” cancer treatment - not quite sure what it is as she wasn’t too clear. But the good news is that scans have showed nothing alarming. I thought she looked terribly tired, I guess it has all taken its toll.

I invited them to a barbecue - hopefully next week - tbc.

The graduation meal, curtesy of DD, in Chichester went well, and I enjoyed meeting all the graduates, listening to their future plans. DGS and partner’s immediate plans are a holiday in Japan next month.

Hygienist this morning, but nothing planned. I shall enjoy this little bit of summer while it lasts. Might do a bit of weeding, they are huge! Thanks to the monsoon weather we are having.

Some bumbles have chosen to nest in the utility area of the garden, and it is fascinating seeing them come into land and taking off again.

Good morning from a warm and brighter Black Country.

Such a lovely warm day yesterday. So Mum and I walked along the Staffs Railway walk to the Charity shop. Where I bought a blue handbag, which I needed as my old one was falling apart. A small colourful bag for evenings on holiday. A lovely M & S Shirt which looked brand new (£3.00) & 4 wine glasses for £2.00. Total £14.00. There were hoards of school children walking along in track suits. Spoke to a teacher and they were doing a charity walk.

Then we had lunch, with Mum having the usual fish and chips. Then popped over to DD's to see DGD2 who finished school after exams in May, to give a few Euro's for their holiday in Greece next week.

Today is a walking group walk, which is every other Thursday, we are meeting locally today by canal. Then a drink at the end in the pub there. Looks like a sunny day on the cards.

I sorted out the swinging chair on the patio, tidied the surrounding area and now have somewhere comfortable to sit outside.
Today I have a facial booked this morning, DH is off to DD’s for a couple of days and I have plenty of bits to do before DS and family arrive tomorrow.

Had a useful visit from a community physiotherapist yesterday who reminded me that I should be doing the exercises I’ve been given for my hips, back and feet, at least once a day, every day!
I have to get some new trainers so will visit a local small retail park this morning before it gets too hot. Then will chill out for the rest of the day.

Yesterday the weather was lovely so I got two washings done and hung out. I did some necessary admin and have more to do today. I also weeded and picked lots of lavender which is in various rooms. I emptied the car which was in a dreadful state and threw out CDs and DVDs so felt happier when it's was all done. My neighbour came across in the afternoon with a jar of home pickled beetroot she had grown on her allotment and the promise of potatoes later. I gave her a couple of jars of jam in return. My aunt messaged me to let me know a cousin had died. We did not keep in touch at all but still sad as another member of the family gone.
Today I have more admin to do and I want to hoover the car. I might make bread too. Have a good day all.

Mizuna, I find great solace in my garden. However, yesterday evening I went out to feed my tomatoes, but couldn't quite reach the ones in hanging baskets. As I reached up, I ended up with a shower of tomato feed, It was in my hair, on my clothes and running down my face. 😭

Yesterday was busy, despite meaning to have a rest after a busy few days, but it didn't quite work out that way.
Mr MD has been at it again. He has become obsessed with that blooming robot vacuum cleaner, which also washes floors.

DH; I'm going to try and wash the tiled floors while you are out.

Me: O.K. What are cleaner are you using?

DH: What do you mean?.

Me: I presume that you need to spray the floor with cleaner.

DH: I never thought of that.

Me: I'm running late, but there is a pink bottle, under the utility room sink. It says FLOOR Cleaner , it has a pull up top and you sprinkle it on the tiles.

I came back, opened the door and was assaulted by an overwhelming, cloying smell. It triggered a coughing and wheezing attack. I could hardly breath.
On going into the kitchen, I spotted a spray bottle of concentrated floral disinfectant, which he had sprayed over the floors. Cue, long, exasperated sigh.
He thought I was an ungrateful wretch, when I pointed out the error of his ways. Why doesn't he blooming listen or get hearing aids?.
I was desperate for the loo and decided to retreat to the downstairs shower room, before I lost the plot.
You can't go in there, the robot is washing the floor., says DH. 🤬

Today we have both girls, because sets of parents are working. We plan to go a run down the coast, but because due to the Open, the our usual will be very congested.
We are going a convoluted route down the motorway to Greenock and back round to avoid the jams.
I love that journey, the road follows the Clyde and the view is amazing.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 East Northants, as I wake up here at DD's for a change.

We had a very good wine club yesterday evening, although there were only 5 of us; a delicious spread was put on by our hostess at very short notice, and we tasted 4 different roses. Three members were missing, one poorly, one on holiday, and the third one just didn't turn up......

DD will get me home mid-morning, then after a quick lunch I shall be going to a talk by a walking group friend on 'Life after a Transplant'. Earlier this year she took part in the Transplant Games in New Zealand, and came back with three medals in the swimming.

A Sainsbury's delivery early evening, and baked sweet chilli chicken for dinner.

Good morning from a lovely sunny Suffolk where summer seems to have arrived( if only for a couple of days). We shall enjoy the warmth and brightness no matter how long or short it is.

Off to my stretch class and then I’ll pop into our local market town as I must buy a few birthday cards. I used to use a great online shop which had a wonderful selection of cards including a selection of blank ones from the V&A,British Museum and Fitzwilliam as well as the usual brands but it sadly closed down about a year ago. Their postal service was excellent too.

Hope there is some sunshine in everyone’s day.

Good morning from a sunny Lincolnshire, forecast says we may get 24 degrees.
We spent the day outdoors yesterday, picnic in the grounds of Gunby Hall and then a tour of the house. GD was invited to play the grand piano, she played Gnossiennes by Satie. As we were ending the tour volunteers came and congratulated GD.
Last night we went to a tapas restaurant, a first for me and relied on DIL and GDs for help as they are all speak Spanish. Most of the dishes were too spicy for me but did find two vegetable and one fish dish without chilli.

Today is DIL's 52nd birthday and we are staying at the cottage and having a relaxed day, champagne is in the wine fridge and we have bought cake. GD1 says she will make pizzas, there is a pizza oven and barbecue in the outside kitchen, she has bought the flour and all the ingredients.
Last day today, we will be travelling home tomorrow. It has been good despite the weather.
