I’m currently in Perth (the real one, not the Johnny-come-lately Aussie version grin). It’s grey, dank and cold. I’m wearing a winter cardigan and my feet are freezing!

Scottish summers...

It was a nice day here on the south coast yesterday, but today it’s drizzling and cool. I’d just like a bit of proper summer weather instead of one pleasant day followed by several wet or cool days.

My sister-in-law on DH’s side went to Scotland in late June. She said the weather was perfect-better than it was at home.
We’ve found Perth always has good weather when we’re there.
I suppose it’s just luck, especially this year.

Wet and cold alas. But a too hot summer must be equally uncomfortable as I may well find out when I go abroad this week.

That's nice to hear. Sadly summer has been very wet this year. I'm hoping for a warmer, drier August and September.

Yesterday I was talking to the visiting elderly French mother of a close friend of a dd - we were at a fairly riotous outdoor b-day party of Gds.

We were v lucky with the weather, not too hot, just right. The mother has lived in Provence for over 40 years and told me the summers are now so hot, she hardly goes out of doors all summer long. She added that the best place for a summer holiday is Ecosse! (Scotland - her son in law is a Scot so she was speaking from experience!)
