Good morning from Bristol. I haven’t looked out yet but don’t think it’s going to be wet. I need to give my flowers a good soaking before going away later.
Yesterday is singles tea went well but was not as well attended as the early evening meeting. On the whole, attendees preferred afternoons. I’ll have to fix a monthly date, so that I can advertise in the local publications.
DGS arrived soon after me, it was debatable who would be first. I quickly warmed up the chicken casserole I had made in the morning and we had a convivial evening.
DS returned from Trieste at some stage, but went straight to DD’s…
We are due to leave “early” (1130!] to go to Monmouth, picnicking at Tintern Abbey, I think. When on holiday, I put my brain my back pocket and just follow the road - so much better than losing arguments re.where to go and always being disappointed!

Good morning from Naples where it looks like another sunny day.
I’m having such a lovely time with my niece. To think I gave her her first bath in a washing up bowl and now she’s 45! The years surely fly.

Enjoyed our day around the shops yesterday and was able to practice my very rusty Italian. Everyone was so lovely and friendly it warmed the heart.

I’ve just seen on the news that John Mayall has died at 90. Me and my daughter saw him play in Oxford with Peter Green over twenty years ago.

I have so much ironing to do but at least we’re going out for dinner tonight!

We have to find a new gardener. Our current lady got in touch yesterday to say that her mother is very ill and she’s helping to look after her. She has given us details of someone who might be able to help us out.

OH has a kidney scan this afternoon. He will drive himself. I was going to do an Engage Consult at the crack of dawn but I’m leaving it until next week. There are one or two things I need to check out with the GP.

Good morning from Cornwall where rain is forecast. This morning my granddaughter is coming over again as the schools broke up yesterday. She could have gone to her best friend's house but opted for mine. We may tackle some baking, now that I can stand for longer in the kitchen.

Yesterday I met a lovely friend I haven't seen for a few weeks. We sat upstairs in Wetherspoons level with the town centre treetops which are replete with blossom; lime trees maybe? Weaving between the trees is oversized multi-coloured bunting. That, plus the beautiful oversized planters dotted around makes the area a joy.

A crossword clue recently was 'mist (4)'. I guessed 'haar' which was right. Felt so smug, having learnt the word from the grans in Scotland on this thread! 😁

Good morning everyone from cloudy south Glos.
A nice day yesterday clearing two borders of violets that smother everything and never flower, cutting back foxgloves and geraniums and generally tidying up. I am very pleased with how they look. DH mulched them, I andded chicken manure pellets and everything had a good watering, my soil is like dust!
I need to tackle the front borders……. My neighbour’s ‘wildflower lawn’ aka a weedy tangle of bindweed, docks, dandelion and couch grass , encroaches on my border and really annoys me no end 🤬
The electrician has run a cable to the summerhouse, all connected up 😊
A friend is having a tea party this afternoon in her garden, so off to the village later, I’m really looking forward to seeing friends there.

Yesterday was another lovely family day, the warm sunshine helped as all the DGC were playing outside most of the time. They’ve all managed to get on well together, just the occasional warning given to the eldest DGS who definitely likes to be in charge! We’re planning a day at Nairn beach today so hope the weather stays warm and dry. It’s our last full day together today as DD1 and family are travelling back home to Cambridge tomorrow

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

Busy day ahead in the Lester house. DH has the gym first thing, our gardener is coming (thank goodness!) one of our lovely sons in law is coming to fit some tongue and groove in the ensuite (he's brilliant at DIY) bringing the 3 children with him. I have a regular one to one with my team leader - it will include tea and cake - and I have planned to batch cook some pasta sauce.

Sad to hear about John Mayall - we have seen him in various incarnations since the 60s. A talented musician.

Good morning all fromthe start of a hot day here on the east coast of Fife, every day at the moment is really quite hot.

I’ve a present of a trip to Edinburgh next year to see Madam Butterfly it’s been on my bucket list for many years, especially after my trip to Japan with my deceased husband, goung on the bullet train was quite an experience.

Yesterday ended up being busier than I expected. Dd asked if I wanted to go out with her and the boys for a couple of hours. Naturally I was there like a shit! We went to a local country park which has a farm in it as well as a revamped play park. Both boys were very happy. Dgs1 loves the zip wire and was on and off it for ages. Dgs2 is a big fan of climbing and slides. When we walked to the farm, dgs1 was fascinated by the ferrets. He stayed beside their enclosure for ages, despite the stink! The sun came out and it was really warm too. Afterwards I went for a massage and that was lovely too. In the afternoon I roasted a gammon and made spiced red cabbage as I had some left.
Today I have no plans. I shall be in the garden and get a washing out while it's dry. Have a good day all.

Yesterday DGS was here as usual for the day. He was really good company which isn’t always a given. In September he is starting 3 days a week at a new nursery. I felt a little upset but realise he is starting to outgrow us a bit as our energy levels are no match for his. He is like a dog that needs to be exercised regularly and he got a good run around at Lacock which had summer activities outdoors. Schools here broke up yesterday.

MOT on our 12 year old car which has only 70,000 miles on the clock. It’s a VW Passat and a bit low for me to get in or out of with my dodgy hip and shoulders. We really haven’t a clue what to replace it with so it remains.

Yesterday I spent the morning sorting out the voluntary work from Monday. Today I need to start stripping some foliage from the greenhouse tomatoes, an early job before it gets too warm in there.
I’m expecting my son later, their washing machine has broken, so we’re a launderette today.

Good morning from dry s somerset

Yesterday just flowed, one of those lovely positive days when things got done and everything was pleasurable. It started off with roomba cleaning my living room while I was at the hairdressers, this time I shifted some things out of the way. When I got back I cleaned the skirtings and actually put things away. Suddenly my room became pristine and what an easy job that was for such good results. Must try and keep it tidy

My sewing room is an unholy mess and I am on my third full bobbin, this coat of mine is looking lovely and doing 1-2 hours a day is enough, I did some before bed and slept a full 8 hours, must be good for the brain

Good morning from a dry and bright NE.
Yesterday was a quiet day after the hairdresser left.
When I went to collect the post I was surprised to find a hand written letter in the box. When I opened it there was a necklace inside, a Paua shell decorated initial of my name on a silver chain.
The sender was a friend of my late DH who just returned from watching the rugby in New Zealand.
He is such a gentleman and has kept in touch with me regularly, DH's family haven't spoken to me since the day he died.

My younger sister is not well since starting the B12 injections but they have told her it can take months to feel any benefit.

My elder sister messaged me to say she wanted to talk to me on the phone so I rang her after dinner, two hours 40 minutes we talked so I got nothing else done last night.

I may go shopping today, BIL says he is happy to take me. I do feel guilty wanting to go to an actual shop as they do all their shopping online. I could do that too but then I would never see or get to talk to anyone.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the weather can’t make its mind up yet. I sweated so much in the night that I had to move beds. I think my body is trying to tell me something. Today is going to be a do nothing day (after I have stripped my bed) as I feel so washed out. LLFL I too was sad to see John Mayall had died. I saw him in a club in West Hampstead in 1965 when my brother in law’s brother, Kim Simmonds, was forming his fledgling Savoy Brown’s Blues Band, whose music went on to earn both gold and silver discs. John was a big influence on Kim.

Off to visit an old neighbour at her Retirement Home. I suspect she is on the way out, so I want to go and chat with her about old times. Her daughter lives in Colorado and she has few relatives here in the U.K. it’s sad.

I’m off to keep fit shortly and then going to meet Gingster in a cafe near the beach where we can sit outside and chat to our hearts’ content. So looking forward to seeing her.

I stubbed my toes yesterday whilst carrying a basket of laundry upstairs in bare feet. I think I may have cracked a bone in one or two toes but apart from strapping them together,I’ll just have to wait for them to heal.
