Good morning from a a dry, sunny Torbay.

I’m glad you’re hearing has improved, Mick

Yesterday, I drove up to my holiday static at Whiddon Down, just to check it out before it's borrowed for a week by one of my DD2’s colleagues and her children. Unfortunately, an accident causing an oil spillage on the A38 meant I had to find a different route home, which included some typical Devon lanes with single track stretches. I survived!

Today, I’m having coffee with a neighbour who has recently retired and is enjoying the new found freedom that brings. She always waters my plants and picks up the mail when I’m away.

I hope those on holiday find blue skies and happy times, including grandMattie in Monmouth, and Bellasnana in Naples.
Kind thoughts are with those struggling with pain of any kind. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning all- having been up since 4.30 I may well be saying Night, night and going back to bed! Airport taxi booked for 5.15 to take D, GS1 and GD to catch their flight to Paris. Which is now delayed until 10.25 🙁
Nothing compared to the shambles which has beset the school trip to Copenhagen and bike ride to Berlin though. They were flying through Frankfurt which was brought to a complete standstill yesterday by climate protesters glueing themselves to the runway. Having turned up at school at 4am yesterday their flights were cancelled or delayed and by 9 pm last night only 35 out of a total of 100 boys and masters/Dads had been found beds in Frankfurt hotels .
Some, including GS are due to fly to Billund this morning then on to Copenhagen, SIL though is on standby for a flight at noon.
Who’d fly these days?
D was totally stressed about this yesterday as GS is only 12 but I hope once they have all arrived safely and been reunited with their luggage (!) and had a decent nights sleep they will see it as part of the excitement.
Me- I don’t do excitement and wish you a peaceful day.

Good morning from Cornwall where the sky is clear and bright. Grandson's 7th birthday party yesterday, lots of chaos and fun. His main present was a surprise fishing trip with his dad and a well-known local fisherman; his little face was a picture when he heard the news. He's a capable fisherman/boy and as they were several miles off the coast he caught a lot of large fish to freeze. A pod of dolphins accompanied them home. An unforgettable birthday for the lad.

My cousin is coming today to collect his author-father's ancient typewriter and the books he wrote on it. Haven't seen him for years so I'm really looking forward to a coffee with him in the café next door; they make the best in town.

Good morning, a bright start here in south Glos, I’m hoping it’s dry so I can hang out the washing.
I enjoyed Stitch club yesterday, the last one until September; only 6 of us but we have a good natter😊
Housework today, change the beds and get everything sorted for the weekend.
Dh says he’s going to DD’s next week so a peaceful few days here! Ddog and I will do our own thing perfectly happily 😀 I will order some nice ready meals or easy to cook food for me 😋
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

grandMattie Fri 26-Jul-24 06:19:49

The page has crashed on my novellas for a second time 😡…. Not doing it a third time.
The day is glorious, we had @goid time in Hereford yesterday. Going home today.
Have a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Bellasnana Fri 26-Jul-24 06:25:21

Good morning from Naples where it’s forecast to be 34°C with a light breeze.

We are going to a tiny island called Procida today so I need to get going.

My niece’s DH was planning to come with us but has been called into work (he’s in the Royal Navy but working for NATO)so that’s disappointing.

What a lovely birthday treat for your little grandson, Mizuna.

What rotten luck for your family Maw. These protestors cause so much misery to others. I hope it all works out ok.

GrandmaBatty I was sorry to hear of your fall and do hope you aren’t feeling too sore today. 💐

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

baubles Fri 26-Jul-24 06:25:41

Good morning from very soggy South Lanarkshire. We had a huge thunderstorm yesterday evening with torrential rain.

DH was discharged yesterday afternoon with a new knee, a large bag of medications, a sharps bin, and a very high toilet seat. He then dozed for several hours before bedtime.

I’ll have my nurse’s hat on today as he begins his recuperation and exercise schedule.

Eldest DGD is en route to Birmingham with her netball team which is playing in the final of a four nations tournament tomorrow. Her Mum and the mum of another team mate will be driving down later today to cheer them on.

I’d best go down and get the coffee on now.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 26-Jul-24 06:37:26

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks like a beautiful day so far.

I slept very badly, again. Since my two sons fell out that is the last thing on my mind at night and the first in the morning,

OH is out for the day shooting targets with his Shooting Club. I was going to spend the day baking for a couple of events I have coming up, but thought I’d have a quiet day instead. Maybe reading or sorting some things out for a Charity shop. Who knows. I’m off to London tomorrow to meet up with younger son for our annual trip to the Summer Exhibition so I need to keep my strength up!

Lots of grans are having exciting times at the moment, so enjoy it all!

Marydoll Fri 26-Jul-24 06:49:23

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow.

We are off to Edinburgh for the weekend for our cancelled steam train visit to Aberdeen and back, I was so looking forward to the steam train journey over the Forth Rail Bridge, it is my favourite journey in the World. I am so disappointed, but we will make the best of it. I am no stranger to disappointments in my life. 😉
I have been warned by DD that there is to be No TKMaxx! Yet another disappointment. 🤣

I will come back and read the posts later. DH is champing at the bit!

Greyduster Fri 26-Jul-24 06:50:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. It’s going to be a warm one. I had an unbroken night’s sleep for once. Depending on how I feel when I get up, I will drive over to DDs and water her indoor plants, and have a short walk in the woods while I’m there.
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Fri 26-Jul-24 06:52:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright and dry start to the day
Oh my goodness Rosiesmaw how awful and stressful for your GS and family. I hope things eventually get sorted ok and they can enjoy their cycling holiday
What a lovely birthday experience for your DGS mizuna definitely a good fisherman in the making!
DD1 and family arrived safely back in Cambridge yesterday, it seems very quiet here at home now. Today we’re off to Edinburgh for a quick meet up with DS and his partner who are there this weekend, Im really looking forward to seeing them both.
Pleased your DH is home now Baubles hope his recovery goes well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannyIvy Fri 26-Jul-24 07:18:40

Good morning from a sunny Cambridgeshire. The 10 & 5 year old GC slept over and littlest been awake since 6 am waking his sister at 6.30 am. Currently having a smoothie and milk shake in my bed with DH. No room for me so I guess time to get up😂 We have baking on the agenda this morning, Lego and playdoh plus a bit of den building. Mummy will collect after lunch. Such a treat to have them

Have a good day everyone 💐

kittylester Fri 26-Jul-24 07:28:22

Good morning all from a bright and warm North Leicestershire.

Today I have a trip to the butcher's and Waitrose to fit in round a singing lesson. I might (really ought!) do some ironing.

Had a lovely meet up with 2 local gners - hope we can do it again soon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Fri 26-Jul-24 07:29:21

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Goodness what a lot of travel goings on this morning.
Glad your husband is now home baubles
I am off to the hairdressers later this morning and then a bit of shopping after.
Best wishes to all

Gingster Fri 26-Jul-24 07:34:25

Good morning all from sunny Suffolk.
It’s good to see the sun again after yesterday’s dull, cool day.

I had book club last evening and only 4 of us were there, plus a husband who hadn’t read the book but was very chatty about the book he was reading.🙄. I’m not used to chatty men! 🙃. It was nice to see the other ladies though.

Today we have my two brothers, one nephew , one sister in law and a pooch arriving , just for the day, due to commitments at the weekend. We’ll walk to the local pub and have lunch there, back here for pud and a cuppa in the summerhouse. Lovely!

Only two more days until we return to Essex. Always mixed feelings.

Grandmabatty poor you! Rest up today.💐
Marydoll enjoy your trip.
Bellasnanna your holiday sounds wonderful.
RosiesMaw I hope the boys are now sorted and can enjoy their cycling holiday. 🤞. What an awful time for them.

Take care all 🌸

Grandmabatty Fri 26-Jul-24 07:42:23

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14°and cloudy. We had heavy rain last night. RosiesMaw what a disaster! I hope the rest of the journey is smooth. Mizuna how lovely for your dgs!
Yesterday I decided to walk to Aldi for a few things and, on the way, had a quite spectacular fall. A woman stopped her car to help and offered to go to the shop for me. I don't know this lady and I thanked her kindness, however I collected myself and limped home to inspect the damage. A very scraped elbow, a twisted back and a sore and swollen knee and a definite dent in my pride. I felt really foolish and annoyed at myself. Anyway I drove to Aldi, got what I needed. Later I told dd and within minutes, she and the boys appeared to make sure I was ok. I went to bed as I was out of sorts.
Bellasnana thank you for your concern. This morning I'm a bit sore but my knee isn't just as painful. I'm going to have an easy day though and rest. Have a good day all.

Liberty Fri 26-Jul-24 08:09:34

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk after a night of rain.

I hope the campers at Latitude didn’t get too wet. The ground will soon dry up with this sun. It is like concrete around here so no photos this year of mud baths! Perhaps we’ll see some in the local newspaper of pink sheep.

I’m off to Woodbridge later this morning to meet a dear friend for a walk along the river and lunch. It is a convenient place to meet as she lives a few miles from Ipswich in the direction of Bury St Edmunds.

I hope there is sunshine in everyone’s day especially for those who are unwell or worrying about others.

Grammaretto Fri 26-Jul-24 08:10:47

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It could turn out nice 🌞

I'm expecting a new volunteer Helper today. A NZ der.
I must prepare his room before my morning shift on the till at the store.

I did another silly thing . A..zon emailed to say my package had arrived. I looked everywhere as I was expecting a parcel, wrote back to say it hadn't but then realised it was the parcel I had posted directly to DGD for her birthday. It had arrived.
I can't undo this.
I had a tetanus injection yesterday for the dog bite which still hurts.

Sending get well messages to Grandmabatty

Are you sure about TKMax Marydoll?. Have a lovely weekend

Hope everyone has a good day.

Marydoll Fri 26-Jul-24 08:12:04

Are you sure about TKMax Marydoll?

I have a plan! 😉

Sorry to hear of your fall, GMB

GrannySomerset Fri 26-Jul-24 08:19:34

Lots of cloud but a hopeful forecast so a good day ahead especially as DGD1 is arriving this afternoon to stay until Monday - such a treat! Meals planned and much chat anticipated plus a couple of little jobs lined up as well as helping with refreshments at a concert in church on. Sunday. Not a wild time but we will enjoy ourselves, I am sure.

Hope nurse baubles has a co-operative patient, that Maw’s family arrive successfully and that Grandmabatty has a better day than yesterday. So frightening that it is so easy to do so much damage.

Gala Fri 26-Jul-24 08:26:50

Just endured a week of dismal, damp (damper & very damp as the week progressed) & cool weather in Pembrokeshire. Going home today in glorious sunshine. Am nearly lost for words - although some rude ones came to mind. Luckily have been here on holiday with our 2 sons & their families so had 2 little rays of sunshine with us - our delightful granddaughters aged 4 & 6 who, despite the weather, have had a great week.
Will catch up with all the 'doings' when we get home. Wi-Fi very iffy here.
