Someone nicked my shopping!

Have you reported it to the local bus depot? I just wonder if they might not offer some sort of recompense for the loss. A truly despicable act.
A few years ago just after Christmas my late DH and I went to a small local cafe for a coffee. DH had 3 gift cards in his wallet which must have dropped out when he paid the bill. We realised what had happened and went back about 30 mins later and they had disappeared and nobody had handed them in, over £100 lost. Makes you wonder about some people.

So sorry that has happened to you but as you mentioned think a lot of people are desperate but still no excuse for theft. Even on a train journey I sit as close as possible to my luggage when it’s placed in the necessary compartment.

My friend had bought an M&S meal deal when it included a bottle of wine which she put in the office fridge and when she went to collect it at the end of the day it was gone.

We have a gentleman who ‘rocks up ‘ to our food bank in a £200K Bentley.
What do you make of that dalrymple23 ?

Perhaps he should be taken to one side and asked what his intentions are! I bet the food IS for him and not him being kind, How do you think he afforded his posh car? By getting stuff on the cheap!

You have to pick up LA recycling bags at the local food bank here. Not all people rocking up at the food bank are going home with a donation.

Just another remark, we have noticed an increase in shop lifting in our charity shop and I also know who one is, and they definitely ain’t poor !!!

Same in the charity shop where I volunteer.
Sorry to hear this Maggierose. There is no excuse for stealing someone’s shopping! They were not to know who it belonged to or whether that person could afford to replace it. An opportunist thief! 😡

Where I live, not the best area, if you want to get rid of something, even a broken something, leave it just outside your front door and it will go in minutes usually.

Bet the thief saw you get on and saw where you were sitting. Realising that they could whip the bag without you realising. I would never be as trusting as you and am sorry you were taken advantage of.

Has the bus not got CCTV? Most do these days

I do believe that there are many, many honest people around, who would never dream of taking something they had not paid for - I hope I have raised a few of them.

There are also some people who really are desperate.

But I notice more and more from things I've read that there are a growing band of entitled people who believe that if they can get away with something then it's all good. As far as they are concerned it's not up to them to be honest and fair with people, it's up to people to catch them doing something and prove that they have done something wrong.

It goes from simple things like the people who used to go to Waitrose for their free coffee without buying anything in store, to the extreme like the man who moved into a house owned by someone else, spent a bit of money on doing it up then sold in and made hundreds of thousands and the man who owned it (who was in a nursing home) lost his home. As far as I am concerned both are thieves, but they see it as making the most of opportunities.

I shouldn’t think that thieves give a moment’s thought to the victims. Some are brought up to do it.
It’s not just the money, it is the inconvenience caused too.
I too would console myself that it was a desperate person.

I wonder if it would have been stolen in an Aldi bag Maggierose ?

Is not only people who are desperate who steal. We have some lovely flowers in pots at the front of our house, the pots are quite pricey but we never had one stolen until a year ago. When we looked at the footage in our doorbell camera we were shocked to see a neighbour a few doors up making off with the pot at night. These neighbours are definitely not hard up. They were indignant when I went round to confront them about the pot denying any knowledge until I showed them the doorbell images and threatened the police. They then gave the pot back to me but without so much as an apology. Suffice to say we haven’t spoken to each other since.

We have three food banks within a mile from ours the roads are blocked because of the cars that turn up sorry no poverty there. Stealing other peoples property from anywhere is not necessarily from poverty either. They are just robbing opportunists (I can’t use the word I would like to) free loaders.
I am sorry you were robbed of your shopping I would be furious.

My DD had her rucksack taken from the luggage rack of a crowded bus in S America. She had been watching it like a hawk and screamed out. Others on the bus chased the robber and she got it back.

Our local food bank is also a hub where anybody can use the community fridge, saving unsold food from landfill.
There are volunteers who can help with IT too.
Ironically the foodbank premises used to be the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Someone posted photos on our local Facebook site of two women “stealing” from the Tesco food bank box. The pitchforks were out for a few hours until it was pointed out that they were foodbank volunteers, collecting the donations.

My relative regularly 'steals' from the cages set up in supermarkets for food donations. She then loads them into her fairly new estate car.

It's heavy work but someone has to do it.

Oh, btw, she then delivers the car load to the Food Bank for other volunteers to sort and give out to those in need.

Although, I used to see someone who regularly filched items from the cage in our local supermarket, so quick and stealthy you could hardly believe you were seeing it. The chairs for customers were right next to the cage. Someone must have twigged on because the cage has been moved now.

No-one is suggesting stopping opinions, only judgemental ones. 😉

I think that I'd just have to console myself with the possibility that thst thief is more needy than I am .

They might be volunteers collecting the food from various supermarkets, or volunteers delivering food to those unable to get to the food bank.

He collects from local churches and then delivers to people who are unable to get to a local centre to collect their supplies.
The elderly, sick, disabled…

Years ago , I had my Christmas shopping stolen in Woolworths .
It was wrapping paper and tinsel plus some chocolate .
Our local Iceland aren't delivering now - but when they did shopping was being stolen as the delivery van was being loaded .
Many customers had missing shopping as a result .
