Does any dislike this time of year.

My other half hates winter, as do many others, which is perfectly understandable, in fact he gets quite depressed which is why one of our daughters bought him a sun lamp thingummy. So, of course he loves summer.
But I am the polar opposite, I really dislike high summer, every year I dread it arriving, and am so relieved once in autumn. I really do get quite fed up with it. When we get good weather it is way too hot and humid and I get hot at the drop of a hat so it does make me feel dreadful, and heavy thundery weather triggers migraines. Also there are sweaty crowds everywhere, too many people on the roads and jostling each other on the streets.
Give me a crisp sunny November day and day, or a warm but not hot spring day anytime. I really don’t mind rain, cloud, or snow either.
Would think I was mad if it wasn’t for one of my daughters and friend feeling the exact same way.
Does anyone else feel an odd one out like this?

Happy birthday Grandmafrench. flowers

If I didn't have cats, I'd drive south for 6 weeks beg of November, with DH and doggie.

Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons.
I hate hot weather, anything over about 20 degrees is out of my comfort zone. I waste so much time because of the heat, try not to go outside if I can help it and doing much inside is also a struggle at times.

SAD is an actual condition. Its no joke if you have it. So no, its not silly to say I prefer any light to no light!

Fleurpepper Sat 03-Aug-24 18:11:13

I love all seasons, and like seasons to be very marked and clear.

Just want to get rid of November- which is just a pain in the proverbial. Give me 6 weeks in May and 6 weeks in October.

Proper seasons would be good - but maybe the weather patterns have changed too much for such reliability now. With proper seasons it would be hard to get fed up with any particular weather. Weeks of what we used to call "the great greyness' when we lived on the English coast could be so depressing, even when it was summer and reasonably warm. And the humidity was hateful. Here it's often too hot for me, so I've had to adapt. I avoid doing anything in full sun between 11 and 5. At the moment it's 35 in the shade in my garden at 6.30pm and has been much hotter recently. But the mornings and evenings are quite wonderful. The summer smells, the warm winds, the dark blue skies and sea and seeing everyone looking (and being) relaxed day after day is quite wonderful. Life takes place outside and is enjoyed to the full. I don't need the heat but I believe that the light has so many health benefits and our mental health can only profit from that.

I'm a Leo, it's my birthday today, so I have to choose summer as my favourite season. Then I'd choose Spring, Autumn and then Winter. As long as I can open my shutters to sunlight, I'm happy.

Winter is my absolute favourite season. I’m never happier than when it’s pouring with rain and blowing a gale….🤓
Maybe being born in early February has something to do with it 🤷‍♀️

eazybee Sat 03-Aug-24 17:37:40

I don't dislike any season; what a silly thing to say.
The weather is so variable in England it is rare for two weeks to be the same; the temperature rises and falls and the weather patterns are generally unpredictable beyond a few days. Difficult to plan ahead but one knows that no weather here will last for months without variation.
Equally, I do not have a favourite season; each one has its merits.

Grandma70s, there are plenty of nice summer clothes that don’t reveal a lot of flesh. Nearly all mine would fit that description. Nobody needs to wear shorts and sleeveless tops with shoestring straps.

Summer's for me. The warmer the better. Don't ever directly sunbathe but just revel in the general feel good factor. Winter is the pits.

Farzanah Sat 03-Aug-24 17:03:38

sorry “similar weather” We have to have weather!

Farzanah Sat 03-Aug-24 17:02:23

I am glad we have changes of seasons in UK because I wouldn’t like to have the weather all year round.

I’m not a fan of summer weather, I don’t like stripping off, have pale freckly Celtic skin, plus a metabolism to match, so don’t cope well with heat and humidity. My clothing’s similar to Pittcity long and loose.

Holiday destinations are crowded and expensive. And I look forward to Autumn and walking through woods and countryside, when the light is not as harsh, and colours are changing, and lovely cosy evenings.

Can’t wait to get the woolly jumpers out 😀

I was born and brought up in the tropics; I loathed the heat and humidity.
Here, I like all the seasons except the high temperatures we have had these last few days, especially the high night time ones. I do love the changes in the seasons, the different foods available, etc.

FlexibleFriend Sat 03-Aug-24 16:50:55

I don't hate any season, I just dress appropriately and now I'm disabled avoid going out in frosty and icy conditions. At home we have heating in the winter if we need it and in the summer air con is available at the flick of a switch.

silverlining48 Sat 03-Aug-24 16:50:45

We have more than our fair share of wet windy grey cold and miserable days, throughout the entire year, so if it’s sunny even if only for a day or two it cheers most of us up.
If people don’t like it they can stay indoors with the curtains drawn, but one thing for sure, it rarely lasts 😎
We have booked a ridiculously expensive UK week by the sea next week and will probably be wandering around in the rain. Happy 😃days.

BlueBelle Sat 03-Aug-24 16:49:06

I LOVE LOVE LOVE summer it can never be too bright, too sunny, too warm, too dry, I get quite down when we have day after day of dull, dreary, grey, cold, wet weather which seems to be 95% of the year here
I obviously wasn’t meant for this country and climate My mum and dad got that wrong
Love summer Hate winter
🌞 🥶

Babs03 Sat 03-Aug-24 16:45:45

I think part of it is that I am a milk bottle - as my old mum would say - and my family are mainly from Dumfriesshire, so I don’t think that I am suited to hot summers genetically 😜

TwiceAsNice Sat 03-Aug-24 16:44:11

Love summer clothes too currently in linen shorts and a vest top

TwiceAsNice Sat 03-Aug-24 16:43:09

I hate winter , not that keen on autumn . Love spring and summer in the twenties. Agree when it hits the thirties it can be too hot. It was this temp on our holiday in Turkey a couple of weeks ago but fine with air con and a pool.

A big tower fan helps back home but generally I love summer and have felt very short changed this year. The only thing I like about winter is Christmas !

Pittcity Sat 03-Aug-24 16:39:55

Give me a sunny but freezing winter's day anytime.

As for summer clothes I wear maxi dresses or cotton shirts with loose cotton trousers. I find covering up in loose clothing more comfortable than exposing flesh.

TerriBull Sat 03-Aug-24 16:35:21

I tend to look forward to the summer I regard it as the pinnacle of my year. Although lately I know I don't like intense heat, mid twenties is perfect. The other seasons, particularly Autumn can be lovely if the sun's out. I hate that all pervading grey gloom and the fact that it's dark in the middle of the afternoon that comes with the winter, it goes on too long.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Aug-24 16:19:59

I was born on a hot summers day, and hot summers days are my favourites.

Also if the sun is out I am happy, whatever season it is.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 03-Aug-24 16:19:38

I love getting up very early and sitting on the back step in the garden with a cup of coffee in the summer. While it is still cool and I can't do that in the winter. The high summer heat I cannot stand anymore and am the palest this year that I have ever been. But don't want to rush the year on so will enjoy my early mornings.

JdotJ Sat 03-Aug-24 16:16:47

Spring & Autumn for me
