Why is this so prevalent in England ?

I cannot understand the mentality of those people , mostly men , causing so much damage in England at the moment. We are all shocked at the murders in Southport but why are they damaging and even looting shops ? This mentality of keeping England for the English is not found in Wales or Scotland but it is found in nothern Ireland . I see them waving flags of Saint George and rioting in so many cities. If the killer of these childen had been say French would they feel the same ? I am sure colour comes into it . I saw someone orchestrating the youths to cause havoc what are their parents thinking they are up to . I must admit I dispair of the mentality of these people .

When its said, "immigration is fuelling" such and such, I think it important to distinguish between immigrants who have come over legally to work on the points system and migrants who are a mixture of genuine asylum seekers and economic migrants.

Many immigrants are UK citizens and many 2nd or third generation. Some are Muslim, some Polish and so on (came under EU rules)

However, mosques are being singled out for attacks: they have nothing to do with new migrants: the nature of these riots are strongly Islamaphobic and racist.

Succinctly put Willow3.

Just read an account of what happened in Rotherham in the Guardian, apparently they set fire to the hotel then tried to block the doors. And some got inside chasing asylum seekers, hitting them etc., they were terrified, was one Palestinian fleeing Gaza to encounter this!
Reminds me of the KKK. Is just beyond words really.

Yes Babs agree with you, and hope some get full force of the law.

These are far right thugs- murderous thugs. Nazi salutes and tattoos.

Yes- and to think some here on GN support them, and approve - is just terrifying for our GCs.

I haven’t read that asylum seekers were ‘chased and hit’ as is claimed in posts above. The Police say they they were locked in their rooms.Let’s not embroider the real events as they were bad enough anyway.

Unfortunately I have seen that, the agitators got into the hotel in Rotherham, and chased and threatened asylum seekers, one asylum seeker was hit, according to the Mail.

Starmer has been imposed on us by 20% of the population. He is deeply authoritarian and does not listen to the genuine concerns of the majority. He is deeply socialist and has taken to insulting the majority by calling everyone far right. ie he is imposing a dictatorship, and we are not having it.

Blimey - 😄😄

we are not having it

What are you going to do?

That comment was just unbelievable. It scares me witless for my GCs.

Asians and West Indians don’t mix
In the last area of Southend I lived in the different African countries didn’t mix 😂
At my local hardly a week went past where the wasn’t a fracas.
The worst protagonist were the black South Africans against the Zimbabweans. Why, immigration from the Zimbabweans 🤦🏼‍♀️
Non of them liked the West Indians.
The Asian community didn’t like the Jews.

Dear God, this is depressing.

" The Asian Commuity"

As you wish.

Just to clarify, I am not offended by the word Asian. South Asian is a different term.
I find sweeping statments such as " The Asian Community didn't like the Jews"
or
" Asians and West Indians don't mix" a couse for concern.

Perhaps depressing was a poor choice of wording.

Now , more than ever it may be wise to avoid such statements.
The truth ,I suspect lies somewhere between people harmoniously playing in a park and the sweeping statements.

An appalling 7 days for the UK.

Yes and I hope the government intelligence picks off the army leaders, those who incite hatred and stir up unrest, not just their idiot boots on the street. Those rioting lackeys are the faces we see on the news, not those who are behind it all, hiding behind the violence.

Unfortunately some countries (naming no names ) are extremely racist towards darker skin . The (mad) belief that "paler is better" is the reason why skin bleaching creme exists.

petra that girl is a breath of fresh air! What she says is 100% true but she is allowed to say it. If I commented on the caste system and shades of skin colour I would be called racist on here.

I read TV presenter Anita Rhani’s book recently where she said the first thing all theirAunties ask when a new baby is born is “is baby light or dark?”

I didnt see a problem either unless its used in a pejorative context.

I’ve put this screen shot up just in case your link might offend 😂
There’s no avoiding a picture.

I'm struggling to find out why a marketing organisation is being used as an example in this case: I've read the full reference given and it includes a whole number of terms to differentiate different groups in order to sell stuff to them.

It would be interesting to see how a marketing group describes the many different UK (white) communities in order to seek stuff, I'm sure there are loads of breakdowns of taste, political views, backgrounds in terms of income and even class in those.

Because I offended a poster by using the expression Asian Community
And now on the news Kier Starmer has used the expression Muslim community 😱

It was just to illustrate a point, Wyllow3 as someone found the term, used by many people including Asian people, as offensive.
They obviously didn't understand.

Community doesn't actually mean all living together in a ghetto!!
No, meaning people who have a sense of community, an understanding, common interests.

What if that hotel had indeed burned down and caused the death of many innocent human beings. How can some be so filled with hate that they try and set alight a hotel full of people?

Are immigrants and asylum seekers scapegoats for the dissatisfaction which some people feel with their own lives?

Knittypamela Mon 05-Aug-24 14:25:33

Don't single out Northern Ireland. There were riots in southern Ireland a few weeks ago. Basically a factory was being converted into accommodation for asylum seekers. The locals objected because they can't get homes.

Here we go again - name calling by Maizie and wwm2. I am neither silly or stupid thank you.

The JST protesters I will still call thugs. Hanging themselves from gantries and bridges over fast moving traffic could have caused extremely violent incidents, killing not just themselves but whole families in cars. Their antics at oil refineries, roads and airports could equally have caused violent deaths.

Priti Patel seems to be absolutely clear on the difference between peaceful protest (however annoying it might be) and thuggery..

thank you for the Priti Patel quote, here's what she said

"“What we have seen is thuggery, violence, racism. There is a complete distinction.”

@PritiPatel

tells #TimesRadio that Nigel Farage is wrong to suggest there is an impression of “two-tier” policing

good to see a line being drawn between conservatives and Farage

When they go to France people here make sure they know they are Aussies because they treat them a lot better than they do the British ! Just part of life, who cares anyway so long as it doesn’t lead to violence ? Most countries have those they like and those they don’t like. Of course the English love everyone and are the exception.

RosiesMaw2 Mon 05-Aug-24 13:32:33

Cutting to the chase - looting and random senseless acts of violence are far from being unique to England.
I find it particularly tragic when it happens in countries where there is widespread poverty and it is the small shopkeepers, often struggling themselves to survive, who see their businesses wrecked.
