Why is this so prevalent in England ?

Not sure this is a purely English problem - we had similar riots in South Wales not so long ago…

they seem to have been emboldened recently, or whipped up into violent action.

Do you mean the Ely riot Pantglas? If you do, it was after the death of two white teenagers on an electric scooter who were chased by the police, not a racially motivated riot? Probably more akin to the Leeds Roma riot than anything else that’s been going on in the last few days. That’s the last one I can remember.

I know, and I’m not saying that the Welsh aren’t as prone to rioting as anybody else, that would be wrong - just that I’m not aware of any riots motivated by racial issues so far.

I blame Farage and his ilk ,they,ve rampedup hatred against anyone not born in England for years .This is the outcome along with Brexit and the loss of thousands of EU citizens who held up the NHS amongst other things.We haven’t had racist riots here in Scotland we have had warring football fans and that’s bad enough …Iexpect we,ll seethe so called “Kings11” out on the streets when there is as planned a EDL event in Glasgow next month ..the Kingd 11” are Rangers fans ,unionists and royalists…in the main so this behaviour is right up their street..they even wrecked George Square when they won a match

I’m not saying that it isn’t a problem… it worries me too… but I live in Leicester and was shocked to see reports on TV to say we had had trouble too ( although without major violence I think). What wasn’t reported at all was that about half a mile away people of all colours and nationalities were rubbing along peacefully together on the park. I know because I was on the park at the time.

What I’m trying to say is that the peaceful rubbing along is MUCH more typically English, and the protests and violence are the only bits that get attention.

That did make me feel terrible, those nurses must have been terrified. It’s so wrong, we recruit them specifically from the Philippines because they are excellent nurses, and then ignorant idiots do that.

The more attention these thugs get the more they will give the news people what they want. There is something very sick about press people hanging around at the edge of groups of people with cameras . You can almost see the small groups banding together to put on a show for them. Not all ,of course , but definitely a factor. Here’s a camera, let’s put on a show for publicity and then we will get more supporters, our mates will see it and join in.

It's the zillions of videos, photos, comments etc on social media that are the threat, not the few MSM reporters recording events.

I don't understand it either, but I'm learning more about it each day. It does seem that humankind is somewhat damaged. Still studying the theories of why.

That is lovely Macadia Very like how it was when my children were young. We are fortunate here where we live because things are still very ‘innocent’ for now at least. Can’t say we regret leaving and emigrating 50 years ago, especially just now. I hope we never get like that but I’m not holding my breath!

I cannot understand the mentality of those people , mostly men , causing so much damage in England at the moment. We are all shocked at the murders in Southport but why are they damaging and even looting shops ? This mentality of keeping England for the English is not found in Wales or Scotland but it is found in nothern Ireland . I see them waving flags of Saint George and rioting in so many cities. If the killer of these childen had been say French would they feel the same ? I am sure colour comes into it . I saw someone orchestrating the youths to cause havoc what are their parents thinking they are up to . I must admit I dispair of the mentality of these people .

Good point - these rioters are overhelmingly male. They haven't moved on from the "Caveman" culture, have they?

You get riots everywhere and those that destroy the streets and peoples properties should be made to clean it up and pay for the damage, we are too soft on them. These thugs are on the whole men who latch on to nearly every cause, like the footfall louts did.I feel sorry for youngsters born now, this is their normal. If peoples concerns are not addressed they should have peaceful protests, doubt they are listened to.
The heating allowance being taken away from pensioners is I feel the tip of the iceberg, the next step will be pensions and benefits, the triple lock will go, we are an easy target. When people feel they can’t cope and no one’s listening what then.
Last night i watched a documentary with Simon Reeves, about the poverty in Cornwall, it was truly heartbreaking. The fishing had gone, the china clay mines, there were a few menial jobs but no prospects, houses boarded up, people living in sheds, most of the town , proud men and women living on food from a food bank, in a town falling to bits. Are the government bothered about them? This should be headline news, why don't the newspapers expose this?

Check out news footage from all over the world. It is prevalent in all countries where it is permissible at one time or another. In countries where it is not, there is usually a dictatorship.

We are near Leicester and have been proud of the fabulous multicultural aspects of the town but there are now definitely undercurrents of unrest.
