Why is this so prevalent in England ?

I cannot understand the mentality of those people , mostly men , causing so much damage in England at the moment. We are all shocked at the murders in Southport but why are they damaging and even looting shops ? This mentality of keeping England for the English is not found in Wales or Scotland but it is found in nothern Ireland . I see them waving flags of Saint George and rioting in so many cities. If the killer of these childen had been say French would they feel the same ? I am sure colour comes into it . I saw someone orchestrating the youths to cause havoc what are their parents thinking they are up to . I must admit I dispair of the mentality of these people .

@karmalady

Starmer isn’t calling the majority far right just a small minority behaving like thugs, throwing fire bombs and attacking police. So unless you identify with these thugs I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
Also I can’t think of any Labour PM less left wing than Starmer, indeed any bonafide socialist thinks he’s more like a Tory.
Fact is he is a centrist and right now I think that is the safest place for politics.
As for a dictator, no, he isn’t, but I get it, you’re upset.

The deep concerns have surfaced lately but the incorrect information was from an outside american site and designed to stir the yobs into action. They have group mentality and are violent for the sake of it. The issues need to be separated, there are the yobs and there are those who are very concerned at the unravelling of a peaceful uk

Incorrect facts karmalady. Labour were the first choice of the voters in 412 seats, which gives them the majority, first past the post political systems disregard the percentage of votes received by each party. They also didn’t only get 20% of the vote by the way.
Express your opinion whilst keeping to the facts, and people will hear you, lie about the facts and they won’t.

Starmer has been imposed on us by 20% of the population. He is deeply authoritarian and does not listen to the genuine concerns of the majority. He is deeply socialist and has taken to insulting the majority by calling everyone far right. ie he is imposing a dictatorship, and we are not having it.

Blimey - 😄😄

we are not having it

What are you going to do?

whitewavemark2. I have said nothing at all to incite rioting. You need to calm down.

I have just compared the thuggish Just Stop Oil Protestors with these rioters. I can see no difference. A thug is a thug.

Local people are out there in the streets because they LIVE there. Very surprised you cannot see that. It doesn’t make them far right.

How do you actually know, just from looking at people in videos or photos, that they are local? I'm genuinely puzzled.

Because footage shows kids on bikes, women in their slippers and people coming out of their houses.

The police have given these people a warning to go home or be deemed sympathisers.

My son asked me, "Why do humans have wisdom teeth". I didn't know why. He said it was for ripping apart raw meat from an animal, before fire and cooking was used. He said that humans have lived the same for 300,000 years and yet today, finally, through evolution, babies are being born, humans exist which will never have wisdom teeth. He said it took hundreds of thousands of years of evolution to catch up to what humans are doing now. That said, he said that after hundred of thousands of years, human lifestyles have been violated ant disturbed by the introduction of technology, internet, factories, lack of self-sustaining means and now because this evolution of society has surpassed the capabilities of humans to adjust to it, we will have all humans in chaos with mental illness (so called) and violence because humankind have not been given enough time to evolve with the society that is pressed against them. Thoughts?

Sorry to disagree but the canine teeth were for ripping meat and the molars are for grinding food, as are wisdom teeth which as mainly unnecessary now but can be a nuisance.
Called wisdom teeth because they appear at an age when people should have acquired wisdom, which is not always apparent.

A digression. Back to topic.

What I would like to see is a clear message from Reform that not just say riots are "understandable" and say "weeks more will occur" (I have been checking out TV and X posts)

But actively condemn them, and use their networks to foster alternative ways for people to make their feelings felt. To draw a clear line, as they are MP's working within a democratic system, between themselves and the Tommy Robinsons of this world.

westendgirl Mon 05-Aug-24 11:21:46

What we have seen this weekend was out and out thuggery driven by racism and brought to bear by far right posters on social media.

I feel very sorry for the asylum seekers inside these hotels where the EDF are throwing fire bombs etc. Some of them will already be traumatised by war or the violence they suffered at the hands of terrible regimes. And of course there will be children there.

^Asians and West Indians don’t mix^
In the last area of Southend I lived in the different African countries didn’t mix 😂
At my local hardly a week went past where the wasn’t a fracas.
The worst protagonist were the black South Africans against the Zimbabweans. Why, immigration from the Zimbabweans 🤦🏼‍♀️
Non of them liked the West Indians.
The Asian community didn’t like the Jews.

Dear God, this is depressing.

" The Asian Commuity"

As you wish.

There are 'far right thugs' in every community. Being 'local' doesn't confer immunity from far right thuggery.

On the other hand, there is plenty of evidence of people travelling to join the riots, dates, times and meeting places have been publicised on social media. What we're seeing is doubtless a combination of the two.

I was almost beginning to believe that you were fairly reasonable, Primrose, but I think you're losing sight of reality here

There might be some thugs amongst these rioters but from what I see on TV most are local people - men, women and children and teenagers. Starmer made a big mistake calling them all far right thugs.

Smashing shop windows, torching cars and property, tearing down walls to use bricks as missiles, injuring police isn't 'thuggery'?

I notice the JustStop Oil protestors who defaced buildings, paintings, vehicles and caused major disruption were never called thugs but they were!

Thuggery requires the exercise of violence to carry it out. Whatever the JSO protestors did in no way involved violence.

You just make yourself look silly trying to promote a false equivalence between the two...

Imagine, our children and our children's children have no idea how different the world is today. To them, this is just normal life. shock

To us, it's absurd. And sometimes very sad. I feel that the sadness is not in my head. I feel that it is out there. The state of populations is sad, not the people, but society.

(I'm having difficulty saying what I want to say. I hope this post isn't a jumbled yarn ball).

Maybe you mean something like this:

"Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace"

Aww. growstuff that brought tears to my eyes.

Yes, mine too. thank you, growstuff

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

One can only imagine.

OK how about this.

I will report any post I deem to be sympathetic to the far right thugs.

You have entirely missed the point - perhaps deliberately?

What we have witnessed this week is on an entirely different scale to JSO,

The far right thugs have been identified as similar to a terrorist threat to the U.K. .

In fact the biggest threat to the U.K.

To ignore this fact is stupid at best.

I don’t believe there’s a such thing as an ‘ordinary Brit’ for that matter, it’s just a shield people use when they think other people think the same way as they do. I’m talking about all of us, we all use that phrase too often.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Aug-24 10:37:55

The comment in The Telegraph is so far off the truth it is laughable.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Aug-24 10:36:27

Urmstongran

Stop trying to shut down this thread Whitewave! You’re like a one-man band. No one on here is inciting anything we are just commenting on what has already happened. Big difference.

Moving on.
This - in the Telegraph today riled me in the way it’s reported upon. Gah.

“Violent clashes broke out between far-Right rioters and Muslim counter-protesters'”

Can anyone see what is wrong with the sentence and then work out why the ordinary Brit is fed up?

I’m not - it is just a friendly warning, to those who I am aware have shown sympathy to the far right in their posts, and who constantly deny what the police, the government and many poster know to be true, - that sympathisers have been one if the issues in the lead up to the far right riots.

Please feel free to comment, but be warned that far right sympathy is likely to deleted, and rightly so.
