‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a good day. Himself watched the Boy Wonder play ⚽️ this morning (they won), then we went out for lunch with my stepfather. The meals were delicious, steak, lamb and sea bass. Home and Himself has just watched the highlights of the F1 racing. He loves it yet misses most of the races due to these Sunday lunches. Eek!

Hope you’ve had a lovely birthday Charleygirl!

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Sept-24 17:17:56

Yiayia all the best for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you both x

Tomorrow we will see the surgeon and will know what the plan is hopefully surgery very soon.It can’t be much longer nearly four months since this nightmare began.DH is watching a film and I’m doing a diamond art pic, keeps us both occupied for a while.
Doodle thinking of you.🌻

Happy Birthday, Charleygirl 🍾🎂

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Sept-24 16:22:28

Afternoon everyone, I think Yia with her husband, see the consultant tomorrow for an ok on the op proceeding Redcar but I may be wrong.
A dark dreary day with occasional heavy drizzle, but we’ve had family here, children and grandchildren, an easy meal of pulled pork, followed by cheesecake. Good to see them all, talk was of school, college and 🎄, wish lists requested and previous ones remembered, a lovely few hours.
Off to meat draw soon, it’ll be dark early tonight.

Redcar Sun 22-Sept-24 15:49:36

charleygirl I hope you’re have a Happy Birthday today, despite the boiled chips!
I think that yia’s DH has his operation tomorrow? I hope everything goes well and that he makes a good recovery.
We’ve had some welcome rain here in Essex, but also some warm sunshine, very humid though. I think (hope) more rain is forecast for tonight, but can do without the thunder!
DD1 and family came over this morning, and she took away some of the large plates that I wanted to get rid of. Son in law took some stuff to the tip for me. I had to move some things out of the shed because the roof leaks like a sieve and will have to find someone to repair it as I’m not safe up a ladder any more.
Hope the rest of Sunday is good to you all.

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Sept-24 15:16:35

Happy Birthday Charleygirl 🥳🎂, oops on the sweetcorn, but there’s always the wine 🥂.

Charleygirl5 Sun 22-Sept-24 14:41:11

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

None of you would like to dine here because you would not know what to expect. I cooked a duck leg with sauce, dauphinoise potatoes and sweetcorn. I wanted to open a bottle of wine and have a repeat supper tonight.

I am partially sighted so ended up with boiled chips instead of sweetcorn. I told myself both were roughly the same colour. The boiled chips did not look appetising but the rest was delicious. I will use a magnifier tonight methinks.

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Sept-24 13:56:01

Happy birthday to Charleygirl I hope you have a lovely day.
Here is today's bread. I've made lentil soup in the slow cooker too. Dd popped in with the boys and some red velvet cake to continue the birthday celebrations. All lovely. Ironing is done and kitchen tidied. I have to make the spare bed up this afternoon and visit mum. Then I'll nip to dds with tumble drying. A busy domestic day

Doodle Sun 22-Sept-24 13:17:10

Happy birthday from me to Charleygirl
Have a good day all. Lots of rain here.

cornergran Sun 22-Sept-24 12:56:14

Quick whizz in to wish our charley a very happy birthday.

We braved the wet this morning for a breakfast bap and some bits of shopping. Now it’s home with the draw bridge firmly pulled up. General faffing for me and a model for Mr C to make.

Wishing you all a good Sunday. Xx

brook2704 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:31:09

Just a quick hello to kitchen pals before we head off out for a bit of shopping and then to collect DGS who’s staying over tonight. He’ll be bringing his favourite board games so that’ll keep us busy this evening. As long as it’s not Monopoly I don’t mind!
Good to hear from you neine and hoping you can squeeze all the important things into the cottage!
Hope you get your coffee and cake today with your DS Doodle, and your laptop as well!
Well done with growing the veg Jax unfortunately I’ve nothing edible in our garden, I think the summers too short to grow much up here
grandmabatty oops, so funny! 🤭
Lego is perfect grannmarie - until of course they outgrow it and then you end up with a massive box of tiny bits that you have to sort back into sets 🤣
Gentle hugs to all those sitting in the quiet corner just now ❤️

Naughtyneine Sun 22-Sept-24 10:49:07

NannyG4 and Doodle...I hope today is a less sad one for you and as the days go on the brighter moments start to prevail.
FGT2....memories to cherish...for all.
Grandmabatty....priceless!!!
Grandmarie... An upgrade....yay..enjoy. The Lego will be much loved I'm sure.
Redcar..I can't bring myself to put things 'to bed' yet....clinging on until the last vestiges of Summer have gone.
It's a wet wet wet day here...so the chalk painting/ restoration will have to wait. The man cave has been stripped out and the lock up will finally be emptied after 3 years. The beloved organ (over 150 years old) is coming home albeit only to the shed...along with reindeers and Christmas trees. The reality of downsizing from a large 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom cottage!!!!!

cornergran Sat 21-Sept-24 23:11:50

Definitely cake after laptop buying doodle. A goodnight hug from me.

Quiet one here today, plodding through some clothes sorting as a way of avoiding yet more paper. Mr C was immersed in model making. A better weather day than forecast, we’ve missed the storms so far.

No idea what tomorrow will bring other than a wander out for a light breakfast before a bit more sorting and tidying. Mr C’s wardrobe is next, wish him luck!

Goodnight everyone. Thoughts and a hug to all finding life hard going. TOYA.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 21-Sept-24 20:34:03

Glad for you Doodle
Baby steps.

Doodle Sat 21-Sept-24 20:24:51

Oh what a lovely lot you are. Thank you all so much for the kind words and the squishy hugs, you’re the best. 😊
I’ve had a better day today. Kept busy which always helps. Meeting my DS1 tomorrow. He’s going to help me buy a new laptop. We might even have coffee and cake 🍰

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 21-Sept-24 20:19:59

Grandads eh Grandmabatty? ❗️
😱
They add to the rich tapestry of life that’s for sure.

Love the look of those carrots Jax. Sweeter for sure fresh out of the ground. Mmn!

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Sept-24 19:55:40

Good evening Kitcheners. I'm having a whisky and green ginger watching Indiana Jones. It's been a nice day. Breakfast with my friend and her daughter then pottering about the house. A trip to Aldi to stock the fridge too. Dd told me a funny story about Dgs2. He can't pronounce F as a background. He's been watching trains on YouTube and two crashed. The bold boy told his mum," He's a huckin idiot." His grandad has a lot to answer for 😂 Enjoy your evening and my best to you all.

Jaxjacky Sat 21-Sept-24 19:19:26

Magical Grannmarie my daughter is the Lego fiend, she’d love it.
And your day is magical in a different way FGT 🥰
A quiet day, newspaper, garden pootling,we’ve got some unexpected carrots from the garden where I was weeding and three large courgettes to give away tomorrow.
Apart from a short shower, it’s been mixed sun/clouds, still warm though. Dinner is on, with the carrots!
Enjoy your evening.

Redcar Sat 21-Sept-24 19:14:14

Hello everyone. It was a lovely warm sunny day here too, although there were some clouds this afternoon but they didn’t do anything,
DD2 and family called in on their way to lunch with my son in laws sister. dgd4 enjoyed herself on the slide for a little while and her big sister practised getting goals with the netball post and basket.
I did a bit of gardening after they’d gone, washed the garden table and put the cover on it ready for winter.
Now watching ‘strictly’!
doodle and nannyg4, the paperwork after a bereavement is awful and unfortunately some of the staff you have to deal with aren’t always helpful. You will get to the end of it, believe me and hopefully will feel proud of yourselves for getting through it.
fgt2 so good that Himself was able to teach the grandchildren to ride in traffic, and then with no hands in the park!
Have a good evening everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 21-Sept-24 18:34:24

‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a gloriously sunny day here in south Manchester but huge black clouds are now overhead. Oo-er muther.

We were supposed to be babysitting but they changed their minds. Will go out next Saturday ‘en famille’ instead. Nice, in a different way.

Himself had already promised the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss a bike ride on the roads, in traffic which they love of course! They also like stopping under the motorway bridge to ring their bicycle bells and hear the echo! So at 4pm off they went in the sunshine. The Boy Wonder in front, L’il Miss next and Himself bringing up the rear just a bit further out in the road to protect them. Aw.

When they came back there were big grins.

“Guess what? We’ve been in the park too and grandad’s been teaching us to ride no hands it was great!” 😱
Luckily it wasn’t a case of ‘no teeth’.
Their mum laughed “sounds just like when he taught us how to do it when we were your age”.

GrandmaC47 Sat 21-Sept-24 16:41:15

Doodle more hugs from me.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 21-Sept-24 16:40:17

(((Hugs)))to Doodle and GrannyG4

Grannmarie Sat 21-Sept-24 16:20:05

We picnicked ( is that a word!🤣) and sunbathed in beautiful King's Garden today. We're now enjoying wine and nibbles in the executive lounge in our hotel, we've got an upgrade! This is the life. We're going to the steakhouse at the Tivoli Gardens later .
I bought Lego for the Wee Boy, he loves it, as do his Daddy and Uncles . Can't go to Denmark 🇩🇰 and not buy lego!

TOYA, wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening.

brook2704 Sat 21-Sept-24 16:18:21

Doodle I’m also sending you a gentle hug from the heart, another one also for nannyG4 too ❤️❤️
