Good evening dear Kitcheners. Today has been a better day, I had a slice of toast for lunch and a bowl 🥣 leek aand potato soup for tea. It was homemade by Duncan’s sister and she very kindly dropped some off for me. It is my favourite soup and not too heavy. The belly is still making the occasional gurgles but no pain so far. Fingers crossed.

Wishing you all a peaceful night. X

Quick whizz in before sleep time 🤞.

That’s a very brave thing to do ann, the memories will stay with you. Hope you have a better night blossoming. Thinking of sued, yia and all finding life tough at the moment.

Sleep well everyone. TOYA

Just popping in to wish everyone a peaceful Sunday night and a restful sleep. 😴 TOYA, NNGB.

Morning! It’s been busy here, so I was way behind on all the news. FGT I am so glad your party went well and congratulations on the birthday and the anniversary.
UTBB I hope life settles down relatively quickly for you. Enjoy your newly arranged home.
Hugs to Yiayia and SueD and all who have problems.
DS and his crew came for lunch yesterday and DD and her little family are coming tomorrow. That will entail some major bedroom tidying! And some shopping. I am trying to diet but it’s not working yet. Very low carbs but cramp and constipation are the only results so far. 🥹
Hope the day is kind to everyone

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰

Wishing happy holidays to Jaxjacky, The FGTs and all on their travels, best possible outcomes for MrSoop, MrYiaYia, Blossoming, UTBB and all with health issues and upcoming appointments, and peace of mind to all with worries and anxieties. 💕🙏

I'm elevating my knee ( aka lying on the sofa🤣) after a busy morning. I went to morning Mass, lit candles 🕯🕯🕯 for all who need/ wish them, then drove up to town for some 'in branch' banking business, came home and did a washing but it's too overcast and cold to put it out so it'll dry indoors with the dehumidifier. Chicken and rice soup for lunch, made with the remains of Saturday's dinner. King prawn pasta for dinner. Monday night TV 📺 quizzes, relaxing evening.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday, TOYA.

Hello kitchen people. I’m currently in Worthing. It took 3 hours to drive down from home. There were lots of roadworks on the motorways, but I’m here. The room is lovely and I had a very late lunch of steak frites. The funeral is 11.30 am around half an hour away. I have a feeling the main road is closed so I’ll have to find another route. After that it is a half hour drive to Horsham for the wake. The drive home won’t be as long as the drive to Worthing.

I hope you’re all having a good day. OH has to visit his bees and we had our hedges cut this morning.

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s sunny here now in Inverness and the washing is drying on the line
Just done the school pick up and dropped the DGC back home, then a quick trip to Aldi and we’re back home now too There’s nothing else planned for today so I’m looking forward to having a quiet evening, I’ll join you grannmarie if that’s ok!
Wishing Jax and fgt lovely holidays
Hoping tomorrow goes ok llfl and safe journey home

Jaxjacky Mon 09-Sept-24 17:46:38

Thanks brook we’ll be off tomorrow mid morning and checking for roadworks llfl.
Sunny now after a gloomy cool start to the day, I’ve been to the library, one of my books is a fast read, loaned for two weeks only, I’ll start it tonight.
Imogen started college today, full of trepidation, her autism means change and new routines are a challenge. My daughter is coming to quiz tonight, we need a younger input, our ages range from 62 - 76, her knowledge of music and pictures of ‘celebs’ should help. I can also ask her about Imogen.
Thoughts with those whose loved ones are poorly, or sadly gone.
Keep improving Blossoming 👍

Good afternoon Kitcheners. We have made it safely to a warm and sunny Sicily. Spent the afternoon sunning ourselves on our balcony with a wee refreshment. Tomorrow the tour starts properly with a visit to the Valley of the Tombs. Hope there is a bit of shade!! View from our balcony, very peaceful.

‘Evening All’.

We are packed (one medium sized suitcase to check in) one very small grip bag for Himself to carry round the airport and place under the seat in front of him and a tiny cross body bag for me - passports, tickets and a purse contains some euros - so we’re good to go. Will ring a taxi in the morning to be on our way at lunchtime.

I’m not sure a scammer tried to snare me an hour ago. I received a text message purporting to be from Royal Mail telling me “your driver (?) David has tried to deliver to your address today. Please go to this website.”

I sent it on to Himself’s smartphone as I don’t have one so couldn’t click on the link.

It asked for £1.99 to be able to deliver.

Well we gave all my debit card details, sort code, 3 digit pin.

Then 5 minutes later we thought “is this a scam? Have they asked for this small amount, seemingly innocuous in order to take out a much larger sum?”

Hmm.
I thought of grandMattie. Took a couple of minutes to think further.

Decided I might be being over cautious and suspicious but thought no, better safe than sorry. So I immediately rang my bank, spoke to a person and cancelled my debit card with immediate effect.

If it’s a scam I will hear no more. If it’s genuine whoever has posted something to me (I was thinking Golden Wedding celebration which is why I originally went along with this) then the genuine gift or card will be ‘returned to sender’.

I await the outcome with interest …

What are your thoughts dear Kitcheners on this matter?

GrannySomerset Mon 09-Sept-24 18:01:58

The £1.99 is a giveaway I think. I’m sure you did the right thing. Happy holiday!

Jaxjacky Mon 09-Sept-24 18:03:14

Known scam FGT well done on your swift action, nasty people.
That looks idyllic Scapal have a smashing time.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Sept-24 18:14:48

I’ve had a few of those texts and I ignore them!

Grannmarie Mon 09-Sept-24 18:25:52

You were wise to contact your bank and cancel the card, FGT, sadly it does sound like a scam but you have acted promptly. Apparently the scammers ask for a small amount first, then clean out the account. The Royal Mail messages look genuine, many people are caught out by them.

Ladyleftfieldlover, I hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

Jaxjacky, wishing Imogen well for her transition to college. I'm hoping that she adapts soon. It's a big change from school, does it involve public transport? I'm wondering because our DGS1 starts his Freshers week tomorrow, 17, never used public transport and now has to take two buses into Edinburgh. He's tried a couple of journeys in, during the holidays, just to get his bearings. He's a gentle giant, a quiet, shy boy, this will be an adventure/ challenge for him, but I'm so glad he's staying at home this year.

Scapa, Sicily sounds heavenly, enjoy every minute!

brook, you are very welcome to join me on the sofa! I'm envying you your outside drying, my kitchen resembles The Steamie!

Hope the Soops are OK.

Kind thoughts to Doodle, Baggs, NannyG4, and all with sorrow, worries or illness.
TOYA.

Jaxjacky Mon 09-Sept-24 18:31:30

Thank you Grannmarie yes, just the one bus, I’m hoping now today is done, she’s a little happier, good luck to your Grandson too, it’s a new start for so many.

Grandmabatty Mon 09-Sept-24 18:51:02

Afternoon kitcheners. * scapa* that looks lovely. Enjoy your holiday. And definitely royalty being born in Airthrey Castle.
I hope your dgs manages Grannmarie and Imogen too Jaxjacky. It doesn't matter their age, they are still our grandchildren.
Today I bought Halloween books for the boys and others and various gift cards for my son in law and brother. I also bought myself two new pairs of shoes. I delivered my brother's present at lunchtime and I'll give dsil his tomorrow. This afternoon was lazy and I had to put on the heating as it's been cold. Dinner was trout with salad and homemade red cabbage slaw. It was very nice. Fried green tomatoes I can see why you were persuaded. I don't think Royal Mail ever charge for a re-delivery. I'm thinking of NannyG4, Yiayia and Doodle too. Have a pleasant evening all

Redcar Mon 09-Sept-24 20:22:22

fgt and jax I hope you enjoy your holidays. llfl I hope the funeral goes as well as it can tomorrow and an easier drive home.
jax I hope Imogen settles well at college, a big step up from school.
It’s been cool and cloudy today with a chilly breeze, not sure I’m ready for autumn yet. I planted some daffodil bulbs and primroses in my large trough, so should have some spring colour. I need more compost to do some more pots of bulbs, I’d like to plant the bulbs in the garden, but would need a pneumatic drill to dig the holes. We did have a little shower and a bit of drizzle this morning, but it barely damped the surface. I’ll cut down the hollyhocks tomorrow, they’ve just about finished flowering now and will spread hundreds of seeds everywhere if I leave them too long.
Thinking of NannyG4, doodle, yia and the soops and anyone else with anxieties and worries.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Sept-24 20:25:04

Doodle Mon 09-Sept-24 20:26:27

Grannmarie thank you for thinking of us. I’ve had a rotten day apart from meeting a lovely lady in the park who gave me a hug and said a prayer for me and DH. Just want my bed now and sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Sept-24 20:31:09

Oh Doodle.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a rotten day. Sadly, it goes with the territory but it must be full of anguish to bear such a loss, yet to keep on keeping on.

Huge hug from me dear lady. x
