Good evening dear Kitcheners, have had an OK day, belly fairly quiet but still no appetite and very tired. Had a slice of toast for brunch and a bowl of leek and potato soup followed by a Greek yogurt for tea. Managed to get up at teatime and then watched a couple of interesting documentaries with MrB.Back in bed now, can’t keep my eyes open now so I’ll wish you all a good night x

Naughtyneine Tue 10-Sept-24 00:33:57

Doodle and NannyG4...I just hope that us all being with you on this uncharted journey is of the tiniest bit of help...
Love and prayers for you both. X

NannyG4 Tue 10-Sept-24 08:00:11

Good Morning, just popping in for a catchup. Doodle I hope you slept and are feeling a little better today. Naughtyneine, thankyou so much for your kind words, it does help, believe you me ❤️...... Well thankyou to you ALL for the support and love you send, I'm always worried I don't thank you all personally and miss some 'grans' off......
I'm staying with my sister in Carlisle at the moment. I made the train journey on my own , it was hard and had a couple of wobbles but made it .. Another first. The weather this morning is awful, it's certainly colder up north.... A bit different from Kent!!
I love to read all your comings and goings, certainly interesting...
I do hope you are all as well as you can be under your circumstances. well. Love and strength to those who are going through tough times at the moment.
Onwards and upwards as they say. Smell the roses 🌹🌹

NannyG4 Tue 10-Sept-24 08:01:41

Good to hear you managed the journey ok nannyG4 I hope you can enjoy some time with your sister. Sending warmest hugs to you and Doodle too 💐

Redcar Tue 10-Sept-24 17:06:02

nannyg4 well done for making the journey on your own, it’s a long way from Kent to Carlisle! And actually it’s possibly not that warm in Kent at the moment, I’m in Essex and there’s a chilly wind this afternoon.
Hugs to you and doodle.
I’ve been fairly busy today, went to the garden centre and bought more compost, then went for a walk. I needed my anorak, but realised I hadn’t washed it in the summer, so washed & reproofed it, then hung it out to dry. Brought it in before it started raining and it should be wearable by tomorrow. Then did a bit of gardening, attacking the ivy and brambles that are encroaching from next door.
After lunch I saw my friend with dementia. She was quite sleepy and was mumbling very quietly to herself. So sad. I chatted to her husband for an hour or so, which was nice.
Now home and have put the heating on!
I hope this evening is peaceful for everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 10-Sept-24 17:27:55

NannyG4 well done. Small steps. Redcar That's sad to hear about your friend. It's so cold here too in central Scotland. There's quite a breeze too. My heating is going on soon.
Cataract assessment done this morning. It was fairly quick and painless, although the drops are nippy. The consultant has offered to sort out my very short sightedness and he's put the paperwork in for both eyes to save time. They won't both be done at the same time, but I won't have long to wait. Dd drove me there and picked me up again. The drops have worn off now too. I've made red cabbage slaw and potato salad which will accompany roasted trout fillet. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Hi all from a wet Worthing, we’ve had a good walk and a drive over the South Downs, it’s very windy, dinner in the hotel tonight.
I hope you’ve had a better day Doodle and that you NannyG4 are enjoying some time with your sister.
Tomorrow it’ll be a taxi to a food and drink pub quiz, curry included.
Enjoy your evening all (my back is sore)!

brook2704 Tue 10-Sept-24 19:32:22

So lovely to be by the seaside Jax even if it is a bit breezy - I really love the sound of the waves and I’m always happiest outdoors near water. Have a lovely day tomorrow and enjoy the curry and quiz, hope your back improves soon too
Really good news from your eye clinic grandmabatty hope you’re not waiting too long
Sounds like a busy day Redcar , I’m sure your friend appreciated your visit
Heating is on here, it’s been a really cold day but I’ve not got my hats, scarves and gloves out yet ..
Tomorrow morning I’m getting the train down to Glasgow, Im looking forward to the Glesca Grans meet up, such lovely friendly ladies and a really enjoyable day!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 10-Sept-24 20:02:56

Sorry I am posting and running (not literally)

Have had The Imp all day, swimming lessons after school with him and his brother.

Dinner was chilli-con-carne, I a, now collapsed on the sofa, trying to stay awake and watch master chef (I have been awake since 1.30am)

(((Hugs))) to all in need

Redcar Tue 10-Sept-24 20:22:43

grannygravy that’s a very long time to be awake, and to have looked after the Imp all day! I hope you have a better sleep tonight.
brook I don’t think my friend was aware that I was there, and I don’t think she knows who I am. It’s sad, but her husband appreciates that I spend time with her. I found my gloves and scarves this morning, may have to use them this week!

Blossoming Tue 10-Sept-24 20:31:09

1 am posting and running too. It was very windy and noisy here last night so didn’t sleep too well but no stomach issues. I was roused at 7am as usual to take my meds, then snooped until 8am for my next meds. MrB went to Lidl very early, I fell asleep until he returned and delivered my morning tea ♥️. I have had porridge with a spoonful of honey for luncu and a bowl of cream of tomato soup followed by Yogurt for tea. Not ready for solid food just yet.

Wishing you all a peaceful night x

Hello kitchen people. I’m back in the mother ship after another three hour drive - M25, M3, M4!

The funeral went well. It was a half hour drive from my hotel in Worthing, a further half hour to Horsham for the do and then the drive home. It was good to see lots of my cousins and their children and grandchildren. My remaining uncle was there too. He is 93 and in poor health but his son drove him.

OH is at his shooting club so I’m having a rest on the sofa.

Have a good evening. I wonder if FGT2 is in Ibiza yet.

Doodle Tue 10-Sept-24 20:53:29

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. I’ve had a better day today. I joined a Mindful walking group and I think it did me good being out in the wind and rain having a brisk walk. I’m tired now so hopefully sleep tonight.

Scapa1 Tue 10-Sept-24 20:57:14

Granmabatty I had both eyes done in Falkirk and was happy with treatment there.

Grandmabatty Tue 10-Sept-24 21:48:50

Thank you Scapa1. That's good to know

Jaxjacky Wed 11-Sept-24 15:06:31

Afternoon all from sun and wind in Worthing, we’ve had a busy day thus far, walked the pier, an art exhibition, a church with a pseudo Sistine chapel ceiling and beautiful stained glass. Then cake and a chalk land gardens, I’m pooped!

Welcome back to our Kitchen to several of our dear friends.

I am saddened to read that a few of you have heavy hearts. I fully understand how a kind word or gesture can be of great comfort.

My dear husband went to Glasgow yesterday. The surgeon has passed his case over to another surgeon in a different hospital. They "want to get on top" of his scalp cancers. The new surgeon will scrape the exposed bone to remove cancer cells that remain after the failed plastic surgery. He'll then continue to have treatment for some time thereafter. We have no date. Told that "the wait shouldn't be too long". So, on we go...doing our best to remain positive.

Our neighbours took me out during Mr Soop's absence. In the evening, our pals in the village cooked fish and chips and we greatly enjoyed their company.

I am never too far away. Right now, I feel the need to soldier on and not make a fuss. My oldest friend has terminal cancer. This is also why I am not feeling bright and breezy.

My love and all good wishes go to every one of you that are dealing with sadness and stress. Bless you all.

Aldom Wed 11-Sept-24 15:15:29

Bless you dear Soop.
I'm holding you both in my thoughts. flowers

Jaxjacky Wed 11-Sept-24 15:36:32

Difficult soop 🙁

NannyG4 Wed 11-Sept-24 15:58:29

Soop... Sending love and prayers to you and your DH 🙏❤️

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 11-Sept-24 16:09:29

Dear Soop, I’m so sorry you’re going through such a difficult time.🌹

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Sept-24 16:17:09

Soop lots of hugs to you and Mr Soop. I'm sorry you are having a bad time.
I have rested all day after a nasty viral attack during the night. Dgs2 had a sickness bug which he has passed on. I'm feeling better now albeit a bit shaky and hungry. I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to Glasgow for the Glasgow Grans meeting. Not sure what to eat for dinner. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners
