Thinking of nannyg4 tomorrow, and hope that the day isn’t as awful as you fear.
soop and mrsoop I hope that Tuesdays meeting will come up with a satisfactory treatment plan for mrsoop and also that the further tests etc for mryiayia will lead to a successful outcome. I hope you enjoy your son’s wedding and mr Yia’s birthday as much as you can.
Good news for you llfl - phew!
I hope all the grandchildren starting new schools this week enjoy themselves and aren’t too anxious about the changes to their lives.

and hugs galore.
Pleased to hear your DGS enjoyed his first day at school grandmabatty, wonder if he’s realised yet he’s going every day !
Also it’s good to hear of your mum celebrating her 90th birthday, I hope she’s doing ok
Well done with sorting out the car insurance Jax it’s worth shopping around even though I agree it’s a hassle
It’s been a busy day here but I enjoyed a really good catch up with my pal followed by a bit of shopping - we’re going to Menorca in a few days and I needed to collect and return some M&S orders
Thinking of nannyG4 today ❤️
Oh soop that’s such a worry for you both, thinking of you and sending much love ❤️
Thank you for your update too Yia and thinking of you both too ❤️
Great news llfl so pleased all is ok for you
Sorry it is more unwanted news Soops and Yai be strong.
DGd’s day at school seems to have gone well, it does feel now like summer is over though. Visit to the hairdresser this morning it was badly needed, nothing planned for tomorrow so the ironing may eventually get done and I also have some ripe bananas to be used up in a cake. I use Mary Berry’s “Friends Banana Cake” recipe which is lovely and light. It will be ready for Dgd2 coming in from school.
Soop thinking of you and Mr Soop and hoping the right treatment path will be found.
Yiayia likewise a difficult time for you and your DH. Do hope your son’s wedding is a happy occasion and you can forget your worries for a few days.
Nannyg4 been thinking of you today. You will be tired tonight. Tomorrow will be a strange day. Take each one a day at a time. Hugs
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Dear Soop, thank you for your update, I'm so sorry to read about MrSoop's situation, but glad that decisions on the best way forward will be made within the week. Thinking of you both.
YiaYia, thank you for your update on your DH, you have a longer wait until decisions are made, but there are two happy family occasions to be celebrated, and a wee relaxing break for the two of you, hopefully these will help to lift the anxieties of the waiting time.
Ladyleftfieldlover, it's great to hear your excellent news, it's reassuring that you were seen so promptly. Enjoy your meal!
Grandmabatty, great to hear that your wee grandson enjoyed his first day at school. Many happy returns to your dear Mum. A good day indeed!
Welcome, Babs, Soop's Kitchen is indeed a very special and safe place.
Hello 👋 hulahoop, I use my phone for GN, I can usually scroll up and see many previous posts, I certainly can't do it from memory!
I went to the pool this morning, doing my knee physio in the water is much more manageable than on dry land! Best wishes to all in the Wonky Knee Club.
Said phone 📱 is now nearly out of battery so I will love you and leave you. I'll be at Mass tomorrow morning, candles will be lit and prayers offered for all who need/ wish them, thinking of NannyG4 and her family. May her DH rest in peace. 🕯🙏💕
Sorry to hear of worrying waits for the dear husbands of soop and Yia , thinking of you both 💐
To NannyG - may tomorrow be an uplifting celebration of your dear husband and the love you shared during your marriage.
Your family will be around you, supporting you and I’m sure you will all help each other through the day 🥀
Not the news you wanted soop I hope you get decisions next week.
Yia thank you for your time updating us, decisions for your dear husband too, you have special events to celebrate meanwhile, a cheery focus for you both.
Relief indeed llfl and a swift one too, a glass tonight maybe.
A lovely day Grandmabatty, happy people big and small.
I spent a good hour today, tediously researching insurance for our cars, an annual exercise in patience, rewarded by a decent reduction on both.
And we’ve had rain, a good hour or so, at last, the weeds will love it 🙂
Dinner is bubbling away, I’ll go and stir something!
So sorry for the Gran laying her husband to rest today, I don’t know you GrannyG, am new to this kitchen but am wishing you the strength you will need today.
Soop sorry to hear about your husband, such worrying times.
Nice to know this is a safe space, felt a bit out of my depth on the estrangement forum yesterday, too much maybe after suffering a bruising estrangement from my daughter, will return when feeling stronger.
Wishing calm for everyone.
Ladyleftfieldlover that is excellent news for you. Dgs1 had a really good day at school. He was very excited beforehand and ran to his teacher when she appeared. Mum got a nice surprise when we appeared for her birthday. So all in all, a positive day
NannyG and Yia - I’m thinking of you. And of course the Soops who are going through so much.
I had a good visit to the Breast Clinic at a Swindon hospital. My GP put me on the 2-week pathway as I’ve cancer before and I had some worrying symptoms. I had a mammogram and saw the surgeon, together with her student who looked about 12. She said the mammogram was clear and it was probably muscular. Such a relief. For some reason my GP sent me to Swindon rather than Oxford where I had all my previous treatment. Swindon were unable to access my records. Fortunately I could remember a lot of details from 7 years ago.
I hope we can all have a good evening - we’re going out for dinner. I do hope Urms is having a wonderful time with her family
Yiayia thank you for updating us. It must be upsetting for you so a virtual hug from me. I will keep you and your husband in my thoughts. 💐
Hello Kitcheners trying to catch up again.
Thinking of you*Soop*and Mr Soop I know exactly what your going through.🌹
The latest news still waiting for a decision.DH has had so many tests and scans. They want to operate but it will be a very big operation and they need to make sure he is fit enough. He has to have more appointments at the beginning of September. They will then decide if it’s possible and if it can be done in our local hospital or,Kings College hospital in London. We think if not, he will be offered chemotherapy.
So much to take in it’s like a rollercoaster! we are just concentrating now on our sons wedding,a week on Saturday. Its DH’s birthday the day after and the family have arranged a Birthday meal. After this we hope to have a few days away in a nice hotel before the next appointment.
NannyG thinking of you lots of hugs.💐
Kind thoughts to you all.
Soop 💐 for you and Mr Soop
NannyG4 You are in all our thoughts as you prepare to lay your darling husband to rest.
Yesterday, Mr Soop saw the surgeon who had performed the operation on his scalp. The results of two biopsies indicate a Basal cell carcinoma and a more invasive cancer that needs further radical treatment. A multi-disciplinary meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday. Options are, to treat the scalp with radiotherapy (not what the surgeon favours) or, whether or not to admit Mr S into hospital for more invasive surgery into the bone. He will know the decision soon after the meeting. Anxious times. As many of our Kitcheners will be well aware.
Granmarie how do you remember all our names and news ,I have been off line for a few days so trying to catch up . Hope all the children starting or going back to school,do so without too many years from them and Grans! Thinking of you NannyG4💐Soop I am also phobic about spiders ,saw first one last night but early in year luckily oh managed to catch it 🕷.
Thinking of you today NannyG4 xx
Sending love and thoughts to G4 especially.
I know we are all different but I found dreading Paw’s funeral worse than the event itself.
Yes the tears flowed throughout but I was focused on making it as beautiful for him as I could. I was also enormously buoyed up by my 3 wonderful sons in law offering themselves as pall bearers going into the church, by my two little grandsons (the eldest of the DGC) on either side of me holding my hand, by the appearance of friends and family literally from the other end of the country (think Mull to N Bucks) on a cold November Monday morning and most of all by the calm dignity of my three beautiful daughters and their choice of readings which reflected not only memories of their childhood (The Road Goes Ever On from The Hobbit) the closing paragraph of The Last Battle, which D1 read at her beloved Granny’s service, but their life today which Paw had been so proud of (“We are such things as dreams are made on” from The Tempest) .
Yes it is almost unbearably hard but it also becomes the best ever tribute you can give the man you have loved for so many years.
Thinking of you.🌺
NannyG4
A beautiful photo Soop, you radiate the kind and beautiful person you are..
I hope ALL of you can enjoy the best time you can have under your circumstances..
Life is tough sometimes but I've found of late that the majority of people are so kind and caring and the kindness of strangers has brought me to tears.....
I'm in a bit of a state, my DH's funeral is on Thursday, how will I get through it, I know I will with the support of my family and friends. Sorry to bring the mood of this lovely thread down but it just helps me offload.
My love to all you lovely lot. Much love to you ALL....
This kitchen will be with you tomorrow NannyG4 love will surround you 🥀 xx
I'm thinking especially of NannyG4 today. 💐
A late good evening from me.
We are now safely back home and this house is just too darned hot! Despite having a washing machine there I seem to have accumulated as much washing as if we’d been on a 2 week holiday. I’d only washed all the bedding the other day and in the night DH managed to get blood ( not a lot but enough) on the pillow, sheet and duvet cover grrr. I’d also bought towels home which unfortunately were target practice for a pigeon whilst on the line. Could do without all this as we have a quick turnaround before we are away for a few days at the end of the week to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Oh well. Talking of anniversaries I’m struggling with a gift for Grandad Dinosaur. I’m not too tech savvy and so much these days are e tickets etc or require printing out. As he is my tech manager ( my words) that could be tricky. I’ve left it a bit late too stupidly.
Good luck to your grandson tomorrow Grandmabatty a new chapter for him also to your grandson on Friday Granmarie
Thinking of you tomorrow too NannyG4 you will have your family around you to support you. 💐
Thanks Grandmabatty I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you will be feeling a very proud Grandma on such an important day for your DGS1 (with a lump in your throat no doubt).
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Soop, I hope you and MrSoop are safe home now and that his appointment was helpful.
Good luck to your DGS1 for starting school tomorrow, Grandmabatty, I'm sure he will enjoy it. His wee brother will miss him, they've played well all summer. The Wee Boy starts school on Friday, I'll be driving through early to see him in his uniform.DGD starts second year at High School tomorrow.
Best wishes to Scapa's DGC and to all the DGC starting school this week.
brook, I too laughed out loud at Soop's words of wisdom about your DD's partner! I'm so glad that you're nearby to support her and your DGC at this time. It will get better.
Grandmadinosaur, hope you are safe home too, after your lovely family time in the country.
NannyG4, thinking of you and yours. I'm glad to hear that you are surrounded by family and friends. Remember you also have the love, thoughts and prayers of Soop's kitcheners to help carry you through your DH's funeral. All will be well. 💕🙏
Grandpup has returned to her family, I'm missing her already. She is certainly growing on me! 🐕💕 My car passed its MOT today, hurrah!
TOYA, NNGB.
Hope your DGS has a very good first day at school grandmabatty, the start of a new chapter! Ours don’t go back until Tuesday next week
My eldest DGS is also going into P7 next week Scapal he’s definitely growing up far too fast ( shush 🤫 he still enjoys a cuddle though!)
NannyG4 thinking of you ❤️
Hope that tomorrow goes well for your Dgs1 Grandmabatty . My younger granddaughter is at the opposite end of primary school going into P7 so one of the “big ones”. My elder one is going into S4 so this is her first exam year and is a bit anxious. Were schooldays really the best years of our life?
NannyG4 hope things go as well as they can tomorrow.
