Mr &Mrs Soop thinking of you and hope you hear something soon, much love to you both ❤️

soop Sat 28-Sept-24 12:44:14

I have not deserted you lovely lot. I send all good wishes to those of our Kitcheners who deserve reassurance and the comfort of knowing that you matter.

Mr Soop's latest missive states that the Squamous cell has penetrated the bone on his scalp. The new surgeon will reduce the margins and scrape the exposed bone. This will reduce (but not entirely negate) the need for any further treatment, such as chemo or radiotherapy. We still await a date for the next procedure. The secretary is looking into the matter on our behalf. So, we continue with the waiting game and place our trust in the NHS.

Bless you all. smile moon

FGT2 (((hugs))) to you both

Morning all!
It’s a beautiful day here in Suffolk, although chilly. The visitors have arrived, all bedrooms are full. DS and family will turn up at some point to be fed.
FGT what a lovely sentiment. Enjoy your stay in your happy place. Love to the soops & Yiayias and a general all round hug.
Time to start catering!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 27-Sept-24 22:25:55

Hello kitchen people.

Thinking of those with difficulties. I wouldn’t have got a grip FGT2!

Elder son, his partner and our granddaughter arrived in time for dinner. We haven’t seen them since they stayed for a fortnight in August

Maybe a little thing in today’s difficult world, but we are worried about our cat Milo. He seems to spend more time sleeping than usual.

Sleep 💤 tight..

cornergran Fri 27-Sept-24 21:27:50

What a wonderful thing to hear fgt. Watery eyes definitely appropriate.

Enjoy the beach nannyg4. We live close to a beach, it’s a therapeutic place for me too.

We’ve had a truly relaxed and happy day with good friends. The rain cleared leaving a sunny if chilly day behind it. Tomorrow should be the same. Can only hope so

Tired tonight, my bed is calling.

Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

NannyG4 Fri 27-Sept-24 21:01:08

Just popping in to say hello to all you lovely ladies..

Firstly Yia, I’m so sorry to hear about your DIL, seizures are horrid, I witnessed my DH have many….its the last thing you need at the moment……I’m sending my love and prayers.
I hope those with health issues, hospital appointments etc can find some respite through the difficult times.
Lovely holiday photos, enjoy and embrace……
I’ve had a nice day, did the flowers in our local Church, a nice bunch of friends, we all have worries at the moment so it’s nice to chat away to each other. I’m going over to my daughter’s
over the weekend, she lives by the sea so it’s always helpful for me to have a walk along the beach, very therapeutic.
Sending you ALL my love. This is such a lovely supportive thread, thankyou.
Take good care and Smell the 🌹 🌹

How delightful FGT watery eye time.

Evening All’.

We’ve only been up from the gardens this last half hour! It’s still warm out so we ate chicken wings and chips at the garden bar an hour ago. I had wine 🍷 then lovely Juan, a pig farmer from up in the campo - down here for the public holiday weekend and to see friends - came over to shake the hand of Himself. He used Google Translate to convey his joy at seeing my darling man looking so well. “I hope you and your good wife come out for many years yet you are both loved in our community”. A drink arrived at our table “Salut!”

I had to Get a Grip. Emotions sideswipe me these days.

I’ve showered my suncream off and we are enjoying tea and biscuits now on the little balcony.

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Sept-24 20:19:32

Cool here too today with drizzly rain for a few hours, then some sun, electric blanket on later, it’s going down to 5 overnight.
A library visit and 5 of our books donated to the local charity shop, prescription collected from the machine outside the pharmacy, works a treat.
And then there was light Redcar what a busy bee, a good job done.
Very tasty gammon, floury potatoes carrots and cabbage has been eaten, a glass of white drunk, now to find a moving picture to watch!

Redcar Fri 27-Sept-24 18:06:03

Good afternoon everyone. It was a cold wet start to the day, but the rain stopped late morning and it’s been sunny ever since, but still cold.
The electrician was here all morning and I now have two nice lights in the garage, and a light switch that I can reach! Also new power sockets in the garage, new smoke detectors and a new power socket to replace the one that the iron damaged.
I celebrated by batch cooking some beef bourguigons, which are waiting to go in the freezer.
I filled a bin bag with old paint brushes and other stuff from the garage, and I’m tired now.
It looks like a dry day tomorrow so I may venture into the garden to refill the garden waste bin.
Stay dry and warm everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 27-Sept-24 15:27:03

Afternoon kitcheners. Brook it's been very sunny here but really cold. I managed half an hour in the garden this morning before the arrival of dd and dgs2. This afternoon I've had a nap-bad night's sleep - and sorted washing. I've now put on the heating as I'm cold. Diabetes and underactive thyroid mean when I get cold, I get cold! I shall have a quick hoover in a little while. Homemade meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti for dinner later. Enjoy your afternoon kitcheners

brook2704 Fri 27-Sept-24 12:56:22

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s a showery day up here in Inverness but we’ve not as much rain as elsewhere
We dropped DGD off at school first thing, she’s really growing up now and getting tall like her brother. It was lovely to have her stay over 😀 Next weekend I’ll be off to see my other DGC in Cambridge so I’m really looking forward to that too
I’ve done a bit of gardening this morning in between the showers - lunch now and then I’m off out food shopping this afternoon
I absolutely agree catterygirl, the kitchen is such a lovely friendly place to be ❤️

Catterygirl Fri 27-Sept-24 00:10:24

Just popping in to wish anyone poorly a good result soon. I love this thread. No bitterness.

cornergran Thu 26-Sept-24 23:18:55

What a day yia. Mr C was in the same situation as your daughter in law many years ago. His year off the road was managed but oh dear the frustration. That was over 30 years ago, no blips since, I hope the same for her. Your husband sounds very determined, wishing the best possible outcome for you both.

I’m sorry you have worries sued, maturity sure brings its challenges. A belated happy birthday to you. 70 is just a number x

Already tired of grey skies I’m tempted to investigate one of those SAD lamps as my mood and resilience always take a dive this time of year and there’s a lot more dark to come.

Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

brook2704 Thu 26-Sept-24 21:52:56

Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s been a busy day up here in Inverness
Sorry to hear about your DH SueD hoping things improve a bit soon. Also a very Happy belated 70th Birthday to you for last weekend! 💐❤️🥂
Yia such tough times for you and your DH, sorry to hear about your DiL too, sending ❤️
We’ve DGD here for a sleepover which is why I’m late in the kitchen tonight. Alls well, shes fast asleep now and I’ll not be far behind her. I was at DD2s earlier for a chat, there’s delays again with her house move so she’s wondering if to just start again and look for a new buyer - a decision to be made this weekend I think!
Sending ❤️ to everyone sitting in the quiet corner x

SueDonim Thu 26-Sept-24 20:27:40

I am hopelessly out of date on Kitchen news so forgive me if I don’t mention everyone. I send get well vibes for Yia’s dh as he faces an operation and am so sorry to read about your DIL.

It’s great to see the FGTs living their best life in the circumstances. I would totally adore that skirt, I must say. 👗

I also hope that Mr Soop has a date for his op soon and that other Kitcheners manage to overcome their health issues.

My dh is facing challenging times and that has been all-consuming for us lately. We did enjoy last weekend though, when 3/4 of our children came to stay to help me celebrate my 70th birthday. It’s scary to move down to another tick box on those online age group questionnaires! grin

TOYA. Xxx

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 26-Sept-24 20:05:20

Our nearest NT property.

Redcar Thu 26-Sept-24 20:04:30

Love the outfit fgt2!
yiayia what a difficult day for you. I hope your DiL is feeling better, but she must be so frustrated at not being able to drive, and at having a seizure after such a long time. Your DH’s surgeon is being very honest with you, but difficult news to take nevertheless. I hope all will be well for you both. The electrician has been here today and has disconnected the dodgy lights in the garage and shed. He’s putting new lights in the garage, but not the shed. I don’t venture into the shed in the dark these days. Here again tomorrow to finish the garage and do some work indoors.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 26-Sept-24 20:03:58

Dear kitchen people. I’m so sorry to hear of your woes.

FGT2 - you look magnificent in that dress!

I attended my book group today. We talked about books set in another country. I spoke about McCarthy’s Bar by Pete McCarthy. I also waxed lyrical about the First Circle by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. I still can’t persuade anyone to read what is one of my favourite books, ever.

Later, OH and I went on our final trip of the season to our nearest NT property. We completed the visit with a delicious cream tea.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Nannytopsy Thu 26-Sept-24 19:53:20

Stylish FGT!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 26-Sept-24 19:49:52

‘Evening All’.

We are so relaxed here we are nearly horizontal. We decided not to go out last night. Ditto tonight.

I’ve upped my game (slightly) as our meal at 8pm (an hour ago) was mushroom omelettes. I’d like to say I put a side salad together. But I’d be lying.

I did dress for dinner though as you can see.

Jaxjacky Thu 26-Sept-24 18:55:41

Yia keep sharing if it helps, what a torrid day. I can understand your daughter in law being upset, a freedom taken away, I hope she’s recovering well. The news from the surgeon must be concerning, they are being very honest, it must be so difficult for you both, enjoy your wine.
Another day of hefty showers and glimpses of sun, I went back to the chiropractor who’s very happy with my progress, otherwise a quiet day, rain stops play!
NannyG4, Doodle 🌹

Grandmabatty Thu 26-Sept-24 18:17:19

Oh Yiayia you don't have your sorrows to seek. My best wishes to you, your dh and your dil.

Yiayia4 Thu 26-Sept-24 18:15:26

Evening Kitcheners As the song goes,Things can only get better.
My D.IL was taken to A&E last night with a very bad
seizure. She has epilepsy but not had a fit for five years. It was very scary for them all but she’s now at home resting, very upset that she can’t drive.

DH has a new surgeon and we met her this morning. She said his liver makes them nervous and there is a chance it could fail when they operate and it was important to get us in to tell us in and explain, chemotherapy could have the same effect. We have been told the liver could be a problem but not to that extent.Anyway DH wants to take his chances and I will support him.I need a large glass of wine tonight maybe two!
Sorry for the doom and gloom
Take care all.
