Someone to watch over you?

At the weekend I spent ages looking in all my books, magazines, hidey holes for a particular crochet pattern with no luck.

This afternoon I went out to the summerhouse and looked in a large box of Mum’s patterns and there it was! Straight away.

I swear my late Mum watches over me. As I opened the door, the smell of lavender (which she loved) was overpowering.

If she ever lost or mislaid something she would say a prayer to Saint Anthony. If I lose something now I ask her to help and she never lets me down. 🙂

Do you feel someone watches over you?

Great post .
When I was going through divorce I woke up to find a Pirate standing at the end of My bed looking sideways on with finger on face as though thinking …I closed Ny eyes and counted to ten then opened them to see he had gone .
Another time I awoke to find an old lady looking over Me with a smile on her face .🙂

Funny things do happen which often can't be explained, but not guardian angels. They certainly have been AWOL in the last few weeks with terrible things happening to very innocent people. And that can't be explained away.

Oh, I hope not. My poor mother had enough on her plate when she was alive, to worry about me and my little foibles. I miss her dreadfully and would love to see her again. I remember a friend telling me about her brother in law who died, crying for his mum. And her husband who was always on the fence about the afterlife, said it had convinced him there was no way their mum would have ignored him in his agony. Those words stuck with me. I'd rather the dead were in peace.

I talk to my late mother and ask for help for anyone in trouble in the family. Never hear her speak but things always work out better than expected. Coincidence or divine help I don't know. I just have an open mind on it, and it gives me comfort to talk to her.

I talk to my late Grandma who I was deprived of in life by my Mother who hated her. I ask her to say a prayer for me.

I also talk to my late Grandmother. I loved her so much and think about her every day. If anyone is looking over me, it is she.

Interestingly my mother always used to pray to St Anthony too and she said it always worked!

My mother always prayed to St Anthony to help her finds things she lost. He did. Now I do the same as my mum. Never fails.

Me too Skydancer. She is the only adult I felt true and unconditional love from. My Mother tried to break the relationship but the bond was unbreakable even though we were only allowed a few hours every four months. When I was an adult she was the only true and supportive person I had to go to. I regret not being able to spend more time with her but my parents banned it.

I don't believe that a dead person can watch over someone.
But if I'm in difficulties I ask myself how my mother would have coped. She was a brave and resourceful person and she loved me. I usually get a steer if I think about her.

No one to watch over me other than DH and when he has gone heaven know what will happen to me I seem to have accidents and mistakes all over now.

henetha Thu 08-Aug-24 14:45:48

I'm pretty sure no-one is looking out for me. But I wish they were.

Kate1949 Thu 08-Aug-24 14:48:28

Me too henetha. If anyone is looking out for me, they need a refresher course!

Husband had a stroke whilst were on holiday abroad. He began hallucinating seeing wild animals in his hospital room and dogs sitting on top of the tv. It was a terribly difficult and distressing time for me as well having to witness all this alone in a foreign country . A couple weeks later he turned to me and said that there was a little boy sitting on my shoulder! Though he was unaware of this it was the birthday of our son who died when he was 2 years old!! It definitely gave me some comfort thinking he was with us and I’m sure my husband turned a corner that day and began his battle back to health. Not sure what happened but I took all the help I could.

It's not a dead person watching you, what a horrible thought. The spirit world is beyond our understanding but we can communicate with it sometimes.

Buttonjugs Thu 08-Aug-24 16:08:38

No. It’s not possible. When someone dies the brain which is the thing that made them what they were is dead too.

Harris27 Thu 08-Aug-24 16:13:20

Yes definitely.

Mojack26 Thu 08-Aug-24 16:25:20

Yes I do! St Anthony finder of lost things...has never failed

Purplepixie Thu 08-Aug-24 17:09:47

There’s no one there!

Kate1949 Thu 08-Aug-24 17:12:59

Nope

mrsgreenfingers56 Thu 08-Aug-24 17:30:25
