I’m sitting out with my coffee , taking the air while I can , I had to pull in the awning in case it took off
I’ll have to go in , there’s a man on the roof oposite replacing slates and I’m hoping the wind dies down for him , I can’t watch !

Good morning from Severnside everyone. It’s sunny now after a very short potter patter of rain. I left my washing on the line as it will soon dry.

For a couple of hours yesterday morning I did some Chelsea chopping. I have some sucker killing to do and will start on that when it’s cooler. I’m not a fan of working in the heat these days.
Next job is a spot of tidying and dust removal hopefully finished by coffee time.

DH had relations near Wallingford Sar so he took me there one day when we were visiting them.

Good morning from a very dark Dunblane where we have just had a torrential shower. Haven’t heard any thunder yet but we were up later than normal. We had the two Gdd’s from Thursday till Sunday evening with all the running them around to their various activities that that involved, some of their schedules were quite tight and trying to fit in their meals was quite challenging at times. Their parents were off to the Olympics in Paris for a long weekend as a treat for one of them who had a special birthday earlier in the year. Although we really enjoyed the girls company I don’t think we will be doing very much today!! The parents had a great time though. Hope those in pain or coping with family problems find a bit of love from somewhere. *Urms hope you are having a lovely well deserved time with your family.

Oh dear we would pick today to deliver some railway carriages, small of course, just off hope we get it all done and the traffic isn’t too bad. It is Kent after all!!

A very warm start and forecast to become hot. The ground is wet, so we’ve had a morning shower, but the sun is coming out now.

Not planning to do a lot today other than ☕️ group shortly.

Ouch, grandmattie, that sounds painful. I hope you didn’t get your finger too wet showering.

Good morning from a very warm Essex. We had a lovely time near the river at Wallingford on Friday Sar with the DGDs at splash fun. I walked into town to Waitrose, it’s a lovely little town and the river there is beautiful. Hope photo loads up.
Back to reality and it’s a gym class this morning and general chores. Have a good day!

Good morning from our mooring at Wallingford. We have been here since Friday and love the town.
Today is the start of our journey home. We are hoping to be tied up on our mooring on the River Roach by Wednesday 21st August, tides and wind permitting.
Today we are planning to move through 4 locks on our way to Sonning. I think we have about 24 locks to navigate before we reach the tidal Thames at Teddington. Locks are not my most favourite thing !!

I’m trying to get through to the garage for my MOT and yesterday cleaned the inside of the car and emptied it. How things pile up! My DD’s car is immaculate, but not mine…

Just a quiet day today after my busy trip south and I went to bed early (for me) last night, but read etc for quite a while.

I slept very badly due probably to the weather. At least I don't have to childmind like you Grandmabatty

Yesterday was gorgeous and I dried all my holiday washing in the sunshine.
I had 3 friends for impromptu coffee in the garden too.

My children's pottery class has been called off due to covid. It was to be a treat before school starts on Wednesday.

I hope your finger gets better soon gMattie. That sounded painful.

Good morning all from a wet and humid Glasgow, where like everyone, we have thunderstorms predicted. DH has cancelled the golf, (bang goes my empty), he will play in hail, rain and snow, but not in a thunderstorm.
I am very disappointed, Alexa told me that it was 16°C with clear skies She cannot be trusted.

WWM, you should talk to DH about the of importance of having trees in the garden. He has spent the last few weeks, cutting back the overhanging trees from the old drover's track behind our house and yesterday, I went to the bottom of the garden to find he had KILLED my two beautiful rowan trees. The offending, Triffids were of course untouched! I am in despair.
When I ranted at DD about it, her response was: These things happen.
As expected, her darling Father can do no wrong. 🤬

This morning, I am off Mass, then have a meeting with the P.P. We having been receiving some strange communications over the weekend (not the Rev. Chris 😉) and need to decide how to tackle it.
I will stop off en route to pick up lighters, the ones in church have all stopped working, right after I refilled them. Poor DH spent yesterday burning off the gas in them, so that I could dispose of them responsibly and not set the bin lorry on fire. A church full of candles and nothing to light them with.

Apart from that, a restful day is planned. My joints are really painful, I can hardly move and those bleeding feet from walking to the station last week, are not healing. I am having to wear backless and toeless shoe. Perhaps it is do with my medication.

I suspect those M&S parcel pick ups means you have all been sale shopping.
Today, I will be taking in the sleeves on a sale dress I bought from there, the sleeves are extremely voluminous!

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we are in the midst of a noisy thunderstorm. When I got up, we had blue skies at the front and black clouds at the back driving over from the west. They're moving quickly so I'm hoping for sun before too long.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn whilst it was still dry, then I had a good deadheading session, mostly on my prolific buddleias. There are still a lot of blooms on them and are a magnet for what butterflies there are about. Sadly, they are scarce again this year.
Today, the bulk of the laundry and housework hopefully, then to continue reading my new book. It's not actually new, I've read it before...Pearl Buck's 'The Good Earth', set in old rural China. I didn't realise it was the first of a trilogy, now I must have the others. She's a Nobel Prize winner, deservedly.

Good morning to you all - I don't envy you that heat down south. We had summer yesterday! It was glorious and with a cooling breeze coming off the sea - just how I like it.
Saturday and Sunday were the much anticipated and longed-for visitation days by little Ollie and his entourage. It was just so wonderful to see him! At last he is real - before, he was a series of photos and video clips! He is, you will understand, the most beautiful and amazing little boy ever to set foot on earth! Anyway we all had a lovely time in the play area at the beach and were there early enough for it not to be too busy. How I wish we lived closer to each other, but that's life. And the rarity of the visits makes them that more memorable and special.
And I mustn't forget that while we were enjoying all that, DD and DGD3 were participating in the Dundee Kilt Walk, walking the 21 miles along the coastline from St Andrews, then across the Tay Road Bridge to Dundee. Between them they have raised almost £2,000 for their charities, so a job very well done.
Back to mundane life today with a tai chi committee meeting this afternoon.

Round here with have lots of narrow lanes locals know when to reverse and when not. The problem is those drivers who don’t/can’t reverse, often in large 4x4s, or who follow the reversing driver just inches from the front bumper. Huge tractors are a different problem and too wide for the roads.

Another hot day so limited activity apart from keeping the gardener supplied with cold drinks. One thing is certain and that is the heat won’t last for long.

I managed a dry finger in my shower by putting my hand in a rubber glove to remind me not to use it.
Liberty, I had friend who lived in Glastonbury, complete with narrow lanes. When she met a large lorry, she’d get out of her car and hand the keys to the lorry driver, who was only too pleased to help her by reversing the car to somewhere safe! 😂

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 16 degrees and promises to reach 24 by lunchtime.
Elder sister wanted to talk on the phone so I rang her mid morning yesterday, she just wanted to tell me about what she had been up to, bus trips and visiting our cousins.
She is taking my family out to lunch at the weekend and invited me to join them, I declined as did my younger sister and BIL.
No plans for today, will just potter and maybe read my book.

Lovely bbq here with the family yesterday, but after we’d eaten outside everyone retreated in to the relative cool, enough food left for today and longer.
Voluntary phones today, quiz tonight, in between I’ll be up and down moving about, the kitchen floor needs a wash plus other odds and sods.

Younger son is coming today and will stay for a few days. It’s his 39th birthday tomorrow!

Usual Waitrose shop this morning while our cleaning lady cleans. Our gardener is popping in briefly this afternoon.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Suffolk where the temp is forecast to reach 27 and 28 tomorrow. Lovely for those who are sun worshippers but too hot for us. An early dog walk and then a quiet day indoors will suit us.

The last fields of barley surrounding us were harvested yesterday. The combines are so huge now they overfill the single track lanes around us and sometimes take branches of trees and bushes nearby. I dread meeting them when I’m in the car as places to pull pull into are almost non existent and reversing for any distance is not something I enjoy doing. I never seem to go in a straight line!

Good morning from Durham, light rain is forecast soon, then the temperature will climb to 26.
Can hardly believe it’s the start of another week - isn’t time flying?
Yesterday at DD1’s was chaotic - nice to get together, but DGS1 was naughty and DGS2 copied him. I was exhausted when I got home.
Usual routine of coffee with a friend this morning, then I’ll head to DD2’s to collect Little Dog for a couple of days, then a walk with him before dark.
Sort of dreading Autumn WW2 because most of the leaves from a neighbour’s massive sycamore end up in my garden - a daily job of raking them up and so many that they have to be stored in numerous black sacks until the garden bin collection resumes in April. I hate that tree and it casts far too much shade in my garden and very little in theirs.
Ouch gM hope it heals well.

Many thanks for all the words of welcome yesterday…I will try to be early enough to post here but I just know it won’t happen every day!
I’m enjoying a few days of calm after having DS1 and family staying for the week. An absolute pleasure as they live overseas but very difficult at times tiptoeing around the remote working! My DS2 arrives on Thursday and then DS1 returns again after visiting in laws up north. Hot beds in our house 😂
DH and I are hoping for a wee walk at the Lochs today if it brightens up. You never know! 🤞
