Good morning from the South Downs. I think we’ve had rain, but it is definitely cooler.

Garden is transitioning now into early autumn. The asters are all showing flower buds and the late summer bulbs are getting into full stride. The galtonias are looking good and the gladiolus I planted a bit late are beginning to reveal their glorious colour. I must order the narcissus today without fail!

The bird bath has been very popular lately with birds queuing to have a drink and a bath. I change the water at least once a day, and my goodness they are dirty birds! I suppose it is the dust baths they have.

My sister is popping in for coffee, so I will hear her news. She has just started her cancer treatment of “infusions” for a year, so fingers crossed she won’t get any unpleasant side effects.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony for the world.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. We’ve had some rain and it feels fresh.

I’m going swimming this morning and have a date with the hoover to clean the bedrooms. Everyday I’ve been putting it off so have got out the hoover to make me do it. Afterwards I’ve some crafting to do.

Best wishes to all 🌷

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s mostly cloudy with just a few patches of blue sky visible. We had a few spots of rain yesterday evening but not enough to be of any use.
Pleased you had such an enjoyable day with your DGD grandmattie. Good luck with the breast clinic llfl and I hope that your DH’s knee is ok baubles.
I saw my friend with dementia yesterday, but she was asleep most of the time.
Today I’ll have a walk as usual, also have a food delivery later this morning, otherwise pottering in the garden. I need to tidy up the patio and clean the garden chairs and table. A neighbour had some conifers trimmed recently and there’s sawdust everywhere!
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a cloudy and rainy North Leicestershire.

Cleaners this morning - hope she can find something to clean as DD2 and co are still here!!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and glorious. GrandMattie what a lovely day! Baubles I hope your husband's knee is ok.
Yesterday was a lovely day with the boys, despite the hell of soft play. Both boys were well behaved, most of the time, and we laughed a lot.
Today is notable for two things. Today dgs1 begins school. He's very excited and also nervous, he told me yesterday. I'm going up later this morning to see him in his uniform. The other event of note is my mother's 90th birthday today. We are getting together at the hospital for a small celebration for her. Dd is making a cake. Mum always said she wanted to see 90, it's just not the way she would have envisaged it. Anyway, that'll be my day today. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a sunny and bright Inverness
What a lovely day gMattie sounds like you both had a lovely time together
Hope all goes ok today llfl
Today I’m looking forward to meeting my friend for coffee, we’ll stay for quite a while catching up on news. Other than that just some pottering in the garden
Hope your DHs knee is ok Baubles a bit of a hassle but at least he’s being checked out quickly
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from s somerset, maybe a little rain this morning but dry later

I had a really busy day yesterday, both before and after the dentist, no injections thank goodness.

The highlight was managing to remove a large blueberry shrub from a half-barrel size pot. I did need to saw the rootball afterwards as it was too big and heavy to manage. The berries on that variety are very tiny and I have two young blueberries ready to take their places next year. The young plants are the same variety as the others, that are producing large berries and I want to keep that variety going hence younger plants being nurtured

I will repeat the process later today with an identical plant

Enough exercise doing all that so I don`t think I will need to do a hill march. Sewing by hand is going very well, I have only 20 more inches of binding to sew down around the edge plus the two sleeve ends to bind.

I have a juice to make today, carrot/beetroot/celery/lemon and cavalo nero. Enough for three days, I use a slow juicer and mini kilner bottles

The weather is turning with the seasons, I like it

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from an overcast and cloudy Northampton, could be a few showers about soon. It is pleasantly cool though.

A good walk yesterday with a reduced turn-out, only.6 of us: we did a shorter walk at a slower pace, and explored a 'new-to-us' little park. We.were grateful for the drinks waiting for us when we got back to the sports centre.

I will bite the bullet this morning and do some ironing; the dresses I washed yesterday will look better for it, and as it is cooler will not be a particular onerous task - can't remember the last time I got the ironing board out!
May go to the well-being cafe after lunch, depends how I feel.
Must get to a post box as it is DB-in-law's birthday at the weekend.

What a lovely day in Bath, grandMattie, did you go on the train from Bristol?

Stay cool everyone!

Good morning all from a bright start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.

I’m off out this afternoon I’m going to see my cousin who’s a real baker, her biscuits are to die for and we’re going to have a good catch up.

when I come home I’ll be clearing out my bathroom medicine cabinet it’s got so much stuff in there which is no longer needed.

It’s supposed to be real warm today. The weathers gone all funny these days.

Keep safe my friends covids still out there

Good morning from a very hot, sticky Malta.

Thank you for your kind comments on the boys yesterday.

So glad to hear you had such a happy day yesterday grandMattie. Lovely pictures Mizuna. Llfl best of luck today at the clinic.

I’ve got a hair appointment later and a dental appointment after that which I’m dreading more for the effect on my bank account than whatever is done to my teeth.

Tonight I’m babysitting as it’s the local village festa so DD3 and husband will stay out late to watch the fireworks. Too late and noisy for the boys.

Oh dear baubles, I hope your DH’s knee will be ok. Good that they’re checking it out.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

grandMattie Wed 14-Aug-24 06:50:43

Thanks, mizuna; I’ll try to remember it for a pot, next year. I’m very keen to attract bees.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. No rain at the moment.

DH went to the Health Centre to have his dressing changed on his knee. The nurse thought there could be signs of an infection so called in one of the GPs who agreed but decided that the surgical team would best have a look. DH had to come home, ring the post surgery nurse, take photos of his wound and send them to her. She’s not convinced but he now has an appointment to see the surgeon this morning. A bit convoluted but he is being seen quickly.

Other than that there’s not a lot happening.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where it may or may not be raining.

What a lovely day GM!

We had a good day with younger son yesterday celebrating his 39th birthday. We had a delicious lunch by the river. For dinner I made us Finnish salmon soup. He loved it.

He is going back to London today while I have my Breast Clinic appointment. Because I have had breast cancer before I have been put on the two week pathway. My GP thought my recent discomfort was probably caused by scar tissue, but they aren’t taking any chances. Annoyingly I am having to go to Swindon rather than the Oxford hospitals where I went before.

I haven’t heard from elder son whether or not they’re coming to stay again tomorrow. He thought it likely but it would be good to know!

Have a good day everyone.

RosesandLilac Wed 14-Aug-24 06:36:01

Good morning everyone from a damp hillside in south Glos- the rain is very welcome here.
That sounds like a lovely day out Grandmattie
After the usual housework yesterday I spent a couple of hours brushing the patio and tidying up potted plants, it is looking good now.
More embroidery done too, it’s very relaxing and I can listen to podcasts at the same time.
Today I have the hairdressers first thing then more pottering in the garden and embroidery- my days are very predictable!
I hope you all have a good day 🌹

Mizuna Wed 14-Aug-24 06:34:56

Good morning from sunny Cornwall. My granddaughter is coming for the day so that will be sweet. Art, baking and sewing will be on the agenda.

grandMattie, I don't know if you saw the photo of the mint I posted here yesterday, but here it is on my patio. It's apparently White Peppermint.

grandMattie Wed 14-Aug-24 06:10:04

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It is drizzling and we’ve had a teeny bit of rain overnight. Much needed and freshened the air.
I had a lovely if exhausting day yesterday with DGD. She has become such good company. We had a drink before going to the Herschel museum - he who discovered Uranus. The whole family was involved. The sister, Caroline, also discovered “only 7 comets” as opposed to her brother’s 10-11. Being “lesser” and female, she had been written off…
After this and lunch, we went on a shopping spree, DGD generously letting me do a little of my own - a pair of jeans and some underwear at Marks, and a drool in a fabric shop. We did some serious charity shopping where I bought her a lovey long summer dress. The colours suit her and she looks fabulous in it.
We went home fairly early and arranged her dad to pick her up on his way home from work. This gave us time to make a skirt with frill/gathered layers. She went home, delighted with her day. I was too.
Back to the boring, same old today…
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
