Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday’s jam making with GD1 was a success with 8 lbs of jam made. Of course everything had to be converted from lbs as DGD had no idea what I was talking about but we got there. I had forgotten about the satisfaction of lining up the jars. We had lunch together so I caught up on her plans.
Today I have a few bags for the local charity shop so I am hoping to persuade DH he needs a walk
Sorry to read about your poorly knee Ash and I hope you can get some help with the back Bonny
Jaxjacky Hope the tum settles
Best wishes to all

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire. The weather is miserable, cool and very wet, it’s thoroughly depressing.

Not a chance of seeing the moon here.

Eldest DGD will be brought over today at some point to collect her school skirt and bring another. She starts back tomorrow and I’m hoping the shortened skirt is ignored and doesn’t have to be let down again. She insists that most of the girls have shortened theirs, we’ll see.

Nothing much happening today, I may make soup. Other than that it will be a case of trying to dodge the rain on my dog walks.

Ash and Bonnybanko, I hope you both get some relief.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Grammaretto Tue 20-Aug-24 08:11:02

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it has been raining.

Yesterday's walk gave us views of the Forth bridges and Burnbougle Castle which is to be a set on the next series of Outlander. I might have made that up

The architect is coming this morning to discuss plans for my house. Perhaps it could be another set? 😂

Very impressed by your DD's hay Mizuna. Each one, even the small bales, are heavy. I used to work with horses.
Sorry your knee is playing up Ash.
The injections are excellent, I'm told though they have to be repeated.

My DS3 and DGD are coming at the weekend so I must "do" the spare rooms.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all. Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days - nothing to say really.
Gingster for us on the Angus coast it's a case of 'make hay while the sun shines' today as the torrential rain is promised for tomorrow, with gale force winds on Thursday. The first of the winter named storms (Ernesto) I suppose - August it is not!
Talking of hay, your DD is obviously a chip off the old block karma! I do so admire the can-do attitude of you both.
Mizuna you are another that I admire greatly - there seems no end to your get up and go.
Ash I'm so sorry about your knee and I hope the injection gives you some relief.
Like so many of you I didn't see the moon last night because of the thick cloud and rain. Mind you the sky was less black than usual, so it was there somewhere! I did see it on Sunday night though - I thought someone was outside shining a huge searchlight through the hall door.
There now. I have wittered on enough and must get ready for tai chi. Enjoy the last day of cruising Sar, and enjoy your day everyone else. Let's look forward to an Indian Summer. Please? 😉

Good Morning Michael and everyone. Have a good day.

Marydoll Tue 20-Aug-24 08:41:42

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12-°C.

Safe travels to Pants and Brook. I hope Baubles feels a bit better and your knee isn't to troublesome today, Ash.
Greyduster, R.A is a cruel and progressive condition. The lack of mobility is bad enough, but the chronic pain and fatigue are unbearable at times. I can empathise with your relative.

We had torrential rain all day yesterday, a good excuse to do little.
Since Sarturday, I have had a flare up of the pancreatis, I had last year. Thank goodness, I have medication for it.

We got a text from DIL, to say she had seen a toddler slide for Babydoll on Facebook Marketplace. The seller just happened to live two cul de sacs away from us, could we go and collect it.
I looked up the address on Google maps and discovered it was the daughter of an old friend, whose children I had taught! It is indeed a small world, especially as my son lives in a different town.
Our neighbours must have thought we were mad last night, trying to carry this slide up the road in rain of biblical proportions. I tried to help DH, who was struggling, but I was useless. Now my back is protesting.this morning.
DIL sent a message that we were the best grandparents ever! I messaged back to say that I didn't think her own parents would be too happy with that comment.

Another quiet day is planned. I bought a Per Una denim dress in the sale, but once again the sleeves are voluminous. That is my task for today.

Have a good day folks, and Litterpicker, I hope you are following doctor's orders.💐

Grammaretto, I have a thing about the Forth Rail Bridge.😍
After reading of Mizuna's train day out, I am trying to persuade DH to do the Fife Circle and cross the bridge.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy ☁☁ Northampton, rain showers forecast this morning but should be a better afternoon. Like others have noticed there is definitely a late-summer, early autumn feel to the air; the light quality has changed, and the sun's heat is no longer so intense.

Was busy yesterday afternoon; cut the front grass, removed most of the weeds from the drive, and then trimmed the hedge between me and left-hand neighbour. I then watered a few things and cleaned and refilled the bird bath.
Still had an hour left to read more of my book before dinner (with a glass of sherry by my side...).

May give the en-suite a going-over this morning, then an early lunch before joining my walking group this afternoon.
Must ring the restaurant to confirm our booking for wine club dinner tomorrow night, and also book a taxi for DD and me.
Salmon fish cake, herby new potatoes and peas for dinner tonight.

Have a pleasant day everyone

Jaxjacky Tue 20-Aug-24 08:55:07

Thank you lulu.
Enjoy your last stretch sar what an adventure you’ve had.

Good morning from Durham. A cool, windy day is forecast.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at a local garden centre, sometimes we talk so much, we stay for lunch. I need to get hedgehog food - I’ve 2 coming to feed every night,
I should do a bit of housework later - I’m getting quite lax these day - DD2 pointed out a giant cobweb last weekend!
My DM had RA - the constant pain wore her body and mind down. I’d like to think more modern meds are available now.
Best wishes to all. X

Nearly forgot …. I saw the ‘supermoon’ several times during the night (bladder) but it wasn’t anything special here. Maybe it was better at moonrise, but there was too much cover earlier to see it then.

hollysteers Tue 20-Aug-24 09:00:06

Good morning Mick and all from a breezy Sunnyside after rain.
A quiet day yesterday and rather autumnal. I certainly don’t feel ready for that…
The gardener finally came and one of the jobs he did was chop down growths which had reached up and had climbed to my kitchen window (the house is split level, so the kitchen window is high up). This house is turning into Miss Havisham’s😁.

Today to the music club, so I will have a warm up warble.
Hope your back improves Bonnybanko, I have a troublesome back and spent yesterday wearing a Velcro fastening back support. It helps a lot. Thoughts too to Ash and her troublesome knee🌺

Grammaretto Tue 20-Aug-24 09:08:34

Sorry to have credited the wrong person with the haymaking Karmalady
You are all such supergrans in that part of the world. I muddle you up!

EkwaNimitee Tue 20-Aug-24 09:19:14

Good morning everyone...I've just lost my longish post so I'll just wish you all well!

Stilllearning Tue 20-Aug-24 09:27:36

Morning ing from my bit of South Lanarkshire. Ash I had not realised how much you had been through with RA, you are a real trouper.

Another trip to the pharmacy this morning, the prescription had arrived there but the antibiotic is an unusual one so had to be ordered in. I’m vaguely concerned that the ear infection may be getting worse while this goes on.

Then off to see youngest DGC for the first time for weeks, they have been so busy over the holidays, we have FaceTimed but I need a hug😊.

Book club was lively yesterday, we had all been really intrigued by ‘Educated’ by Tara Westover, a really interesting read.

Hope everyone has a good day.

aggie Tue 20-Aug-24 09:30:29

Good morning, it’s lovely and bright , but very “ fresh “

harrigran Tue 20-Aug-24 09:46:47

Good morning from a slowly brightening NE. Third morning in a row that the heating has come on.
Got all my washing done and hung in the garden, dried very quickly. I was taking the last of my tops off the line when a seagull flew over and splattered my favourite top 😬 I had to wash it again. I live miles from the seafront.
I didn't see the moonrise last night but when I went to bed it was very bright and shining through my bathroom window, it was big and beautiful.
Police got in touch with DS about the road rage incident and told him they knew who the offender was and patrol cars were informed of registration. DS said he was concerned for me in case he returns to the house, their reply " tell her not to answer the door ".
Nothing planned for today so will put all the ironing away and maybe make a shopping list.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Dunworking Tue 20-Aug-24 10:44:18

Morning again from a sunny Glasgow ( last post disappeared!)
A quiet empty house today…visitors out touring around Mull and Glencoe.
I’ve realised that I much prefer reading to posting so I’ve decided to disappear back into the shadows and enjoy just reading all ur interesting posts.
You live and learn! 😂
Enjoy ur day!

madeleine45 Tue 20-Aug-24 10:59:50

Good Morning everyone. The weather here cant quite make up its mind. It is quite windy but keeps clouding over as if it is going to rain and then the sun appears again. Having just stuck a load of washing out hope that the rain keeps away. Good to read what you are all doing these days. I have been away and during that time managed to catch my foot and have a fall so my knee is rather swollen and painful but nothing broken thankfully. It seems amazing how long it takes to get things sorted out these days. All the washing is now done but the piles of ironing are going to have to wait. Went to the top of Swaledale to say hello to my world again, quite a lot of bikers around and notices up for the shows coming up next week. I am shortly going off to see a garden open for the NGS close by.Hopefully it will be just what I can enjoy. A lovely garden to enjoy at the slow pace I have to keep at the moment, and the weeds not down to me to clear , so fingers crossed for decent weather and chance to enjoy someones hard work while my washing dries.

Litterpicker Tue 20-Aug-24 11:30:14

Good morning from West Sussex. It’s cloudy but bright. DH has just gone off to the allotment. I felt quite a lot better yesterday - it was the one week anniversary of my fall from the ladder - but I had a restless night and felt quite nauseous this morning. Things are improving now and I’ve had some toast and marmalade. The other, more minor injuries I have are making their presence felt - strained ankle and lower back - I hope soon I can do some gentle exercises to help.

I am not supposed to be doing much reading, on or offline, but have enjoyed a quick read through your posts. Thoughts with those with painful knees etc. Hope your medication has speedy positive results on your ear infection, Stilllearning.
Marydoll and others, thank you for your concern for me.
