Stunning Gingster

baubles Thu 22-Aug-24 13:22:04

Fab photo Gingster!

stilllearning it’s such a shame but the committee had to go with current forecasts which are predicting high winds so the balloons wouldn’t be able to fly. The conditions aren’t favourable for the parachutists either.
Much as I’m tired of this weather, for the sake of the organisers, I hope the forecast is correct.

Super moon

Gingster Thu 22-Aug-24 10:16:09

Good morning all. I’m late to the party as we’ve just waved ds1 and family off. We’ve had a lovely couple of days with sea swimming, fish and chips and bar b q’s. They felt relaxed and rested and enjoyed time away from their busy lives.

We’ll have a tidy round and await Dd and dgd6 . They are having an adventure and coming up by train (actually 4 trains).
The weather has finally turned and we have high winds and scattered showers. Never mind DGD will want to go on the beach whatever the weather.

Beautiful super moon while we’ve been here. I’ll send a pic.

Take care everyone. 🌸

Just had message from DD. DGD had really good results mostly 8's and 7's (which are Grade A and A*'s) . Chemistry and Biology which she wanted to do for A levels. So seems she will be coming to college near me

Just spoke to DGD she is very happy.

A late Good Morning from Durham. Bright blue sky, fluffy clouds, but blowing a hoolie.
I’ve been out to the ATM - hardly use cash these days, but the gardener is due and it’s nail appointments tomorrow, so better to be prepared.
The Sky visit didn’t go as planned, so he’ll be back later - he said he was enjoying the challenge this house presented!
Hopefully DD1 will pop in and disconnect unnecessary wires.
It sounds as if things are improving for some GNs and their family members - long may that continue.
Interesting to read of holidays on Menorca - went in May - it’s off my repeat visit list.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire which looks a bit better than yours baubles
I couldn’t believe your news that the balloon festival has been cancelled, this was to have been the very first time I was going over to stay with DD to see it😳! I’ll still enjoy being with them but really!!!
Glad DH is back driving.

Lovely cushion grandMattie

Happy holiday brook, as you can gather weather still awful here!

Off into my neighbour’s who is kindly putting the long awaited drops in my ear for me as I almost used half the bottle in the first two attempts to do it myself, another challenge in living alone ( and being handless!)

Good luck to all DGC awaiting exam results and wishing everyone a decent day. Take care Litterpicker

grandMattie Thu 22-Aug-24 09:08:57

Oops, the balloon thingy worked magic on my right ear. I had been deaf for about 5 years due to fluid in that ear. Persist!
Good luck.

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Aug-24 09:05:07

Morning from a wet and windy S Hants, yet we have 25 forecast for next week!
Another bad back here bonny it went into spasm when I got up earlier, but will improve as the day goes on.
Gorgeous cushion gMattie.
Good luck corner and hurray for Mrbaubles
Another house awaiting GCSE results for Imogen, good luck to all the other youngsters today.
I won’t be doing much, just moving every 20 minutes or so to stop me locking up.

Good morning everyone from a. grey cloudy Northampton. Sunshine forecast this afternoon though.

DS has just messaged me with DGD's GCSE results - all 9s bar one which was an 8! Always knew she would do well. Now into 6th form for A levels, which last time I heard are Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology.

A lovely dinner out last night with our ladies wine club; much wine drunk so I shall take it easy today...
Sainsbury's delivery late morning, then expecting another two parcels.

Hope all DGC expecting results today are p!eased.with them.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a sunny Co Armagh, the sun has no heat in it !
I’m sure I have a pre holiday hair appointment today, Daughter and I go together , but I sent her a txt and no answer
Enjoy the day friends x

GrannySomerset Thu 22-Aug-24 08:51:52

Another grey morning, rather depressing but we are missing the worst of the stormy weather so I shouldn’t grumble. Hair dresser this morning and then a return to the sixteenth century as I am half way through the last Shardlake book - I have been binge read in them in order which has been an absolute delight. I must say I am grateful to live now and not then!

Hope all our regulars with health problems have a better day and something to cheer them.

GrannyIvy Thu 22-Aug-24 08:43:12

Oops - I feel for you having had a similar problem with my right ear in Feb/March. I tried the balloon thingy I couldn’t manage it very well but I think it did help. Took some weeks to settle though and hearing to return. Hope you feel better soon x

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Aug-24 08:42:28

Oh dear, the rain has arrived 🌧️

So much for no rain forecast 🤷‍♀️

EkwaNimitee Thu 22-Aug-24 08:38:18

Good morning Mick and everyone from wet and windy Carlisle. I had to get up in the night and close the window as the blind was rattling so.
I listened to the forecast yesterday lunchtime and went out to mow the lawn. I wasn't the only one by the sound of it. My roses out front are doing well, they don't think summer is over and are about to explode into prolific bloom again.

Today I will get the ironing done then we'll see. I'm still just looking at my jobs list...

Wishing you a speedy recovery Litterpicker. What an unfortunate accident that was.
Although I'm spry and have always had a good sense of balance, I have removed everything except those things rarely used from my high cupboards as I don't want to risk steps and stools. The results of a fall can be so much more serious when we're older.

Have a good day everyone and happy holidays to those on them.

Bonnybanko Thu 22-Aug-24 08:37:12

Good morning everyone it’s a very bright but windy day here on the east coast of Fife

I’ve slept with 2 heat pads on my back all night long and I’m boiling hot this morning
Fingers crossed my sore back will be much better today

Have a good day my friends as best you can

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 22-Aug-24 08:36:31

Sorry not sure how Ashcombes post appeared

GrannyIvy Thu 22-Aug-24 08:36:02

Good morning from a wet windy Cambs. The wind kept me awake last night, sounded like aeroplanes going over at one point!!
Yesterday I felt wiped out after a busy few weeks and my plans to do lots on the garden didn’t happen. Hoping to get out there today if weather improves later
Have a good day everyone 💐

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 22-Aug-24 08:34:41

Ashcombe

Good morning from a windy but, so far, dry Torbay.

I expect you’ll be pleased with the improvement in your hearing after having your ears syringed, Mick.

Yesterday I visited my neighbour and friend who is recovering from a prolapse repair. She does a lot of good for others so now it’s her turn to be cared for.

Wishing a better day to those who are suffering and happy times for those on holiday. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a dull and windy Oxfordshire, I’ve not been around much as I thought I had Vertigo for the past 3 weeks, but I actually have fluid in my inner ear, similar symptoms but until the fluid goes away I remain indoors, unless I’m hanging onto MrOops and I’m not able to drive. I have a balloon thingy that may or may not help, if not then it’s off to the ENT chap after another 3 weeks, it’s a bit sore though.

Anyway, good to be back although it doesn’t always follow that I can stay around, today seems like a good day.

Grandmattie I bought a new PC recently, it asked me for my Microsoft password and then automatically transferred everything from my old PC, which was a relief as I couldn’t turn the old one on and thought I had lost it all inside the old PC.
Whilst I’m still able to stand upright without falling over I might get some of my more Autumnal clothes out of the wardrobe, it’s getting chilly.

That reminds me I have the Boiler man here later today for the annual service I must remember to turn the hot water off .

Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are unwell or stressed.

Taichinan Thu 22-Aug-24 08:30:17

Good morning all. The really bad weather hasn't reached us here on the Angus coast - yet! Just wind and showers and a tiny bit of blue letting the sunshine through. Very late autumn now, but I live in hope of a lovely September 🤞
Beautiful cushion grandmattie.
Mizuna I love your burgeoning energy - what a great arrangement you have made with your neighbour, both of you doing what you enjoy.
Enjoy that holiday Brook.
You must be so excited to be seeing your DD from America ,*Bella*.
Nothing to say from here. Still no word of my returning hearing aid. So long as I am on my own, I forget about it and then get a shock when I'm in a shop and can't hear what's being said to me! Off down to tai chi soon. Enjoy your day everyone x

Grammaretto Thu 22-Aug-24 08:23:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's blowing a hoolie!

A 2nd tetanus jag for me this morning after my dog bite. The wound is better but it's left a lumpy scar.
Then I'll be celebrating my DF birthday, and mine. Both were last week but we like to spend the day together. any excuse

Yesterday I was lucky and saw a sold out film in the Edinburgh festival. I waited patiently until I was ushered in as the film was starting.

You are such a clever lady gMattie. The cushion looks great.

I hope you can let someone know about the bus driver Mizuna.

Have a good day everyone.

Litterpicker Thu 22-Aug-24 08:18:12

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It’s cloudy but not actually raining yet. It was cooler and windier yesterday so my plan to maybe accompany DH to the allotment to sit and watch him work (!), was changed to sitting in the spare bedroom where most of my ‘stuff’ is stashed. From the sofa bed I can reach the shelves full of craft stuff, collections of cuttings and articles, old work related papers kept for interest/nostalgia, so I worked through, discarding lots of paper and some bags of ribbons and other bits that I kept for DGDs but which they have not so far shown much interest in. More sorting today.

My health, following my fall and head injury is improving. I still have a headache but not too severe so fewer painkillers needed. I think the uncertainty is the worst thing at the moment - will it take weeks or months to heal? No-one can tell me as it varies. I don’t know if I will be called for a further scan. You can tell I’m not used to being ill - I have been fortunate in my health up until now. I have admiration for all those living with long-term health challenges. I must learn to be patient 😇

Hope all those waiting for exam results get good news.
Lovely cushion, Grandmattie.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Thu 22-Aug-24 08:17:41

Good morning from a very breezy and wet Severnside. Before I got up I was watched the bedroom curtains dancing about.

I’ve got some sewing to do this morning and not sure whether to go shopping today or leave until tomorrow.

That’s a lovely cushion Mattie. I’ve a garden chair to rub down and make new seating and back for which I plan to use in the other bedroom.

Have a good day all 🌷

baubles Thu 22-Aug-24 08:13:12

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. The weather is vile, cold, wet, very windy and altogether atrocious.

Our Balloon Festival this weekend has been cancelled. Last night the organisers had to take the very difficult decision to call it off, such a shame, it’s the only hot air balloon festival in Scotland and in good weather is a fantastic event.

Yesterday I met a Granspal for lunch, it was good to see her. While I was out DH messaged to say that the surgeon had given him the go ahead to drive, exactly four weeks after his knee replacement surgery. He’s
cock-a-hoop.

Nail appointment today then I’ll cook up a batch of bolognaise.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Aug-24 08:12:11

Morning everyone, it’s grey and windy, no rain is forecast.

I have everything crossed for eldest GS’s GCSE results , good luck to all GC also receiving results.

Having put off going to the big Sainsbury’s for over two months I have to go today! I can source mist things locally, but need washing products and store cupboards staples with the added bonus that they have their 25% off of wine 🥂🍷

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️
