Good Morning Everyone,
Its still dark but its raining as per the forecast locally this morning in brackley .
Once daylight happens I will decide whether to catch the bus to Bicester for a short while.
Plan to watch cycling from Spain on TV , on which is being held in high temperatures in that SE part of the country .
Then get a Chinese take Away later .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning , it’s sunny but chitteringly cold in Co Armagh!
I’m going to empty a few flower pots today , they aren’t exactly over , but not doing much either
The greenhouse is still closed , hoping our huge crop of tomatoes will ripen !
Enjoy the day

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Hairdressers yesterday and hair much improved with colour and cut, although I felt like a zombie after a sleepless night. I travel nearly twenty miles to her as she suits me and I’m not fussed about there, which I hate.

Quite a confusing time sitting with my diary yesterday as my BILs’ 90th celebrations in the south and a friend’s request to visit clash. Plus I don’t yet know my appointments for hernia op and op to remove my broken tooth and abscess…

Tonight a gadabout in the city with friend, so will dress up and get into party mood. Glad I’ve had a good night’s sleep apart from the cat jumping on me at all hours.

Thoughts to all and Bonnybanko, I’m very squeamish, your posts should come with a warning!

Good morning from a wet. wet, wet, grey and rather chilly Bristol. The cat has taken himself back to bed, my bed to be precise, and doesn't want to know. He hates the rain with a passion. I shall be going to Marks and Spencers at the Mall later and hope they've got my favourite kind of knickers in stock (very exciting). This will give me an excellent excuse to wander around the food hall and choose a treat for tea. I hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton which the garden sorely needs. Should clear up after lunch, which means I shall be able to hop on the bus and do my top-up shop. (And go to Matalan....).

Only did two dance classes yesterday instead of three, so that I could get home, have lunch and then get into town to return my sandals. I managed to find one of the styles in store, and tried them on in two different sizes, but the fit still wasn't right. I then stocked up on toiletries from a discount store and Superdrug, and then needed to go to the bank!
Called in WH smith to see if they had a book for book club, as I wanted to spend a voucher - of course they didn't, but was told I could use the voucher on-line, so ordered the book when I got home.
Of course the buses were not playing ball when it came to going home, and the one I went for was cancelled, so had a half-hour wait for the next. At least it was a dry warm day.

No other plans for today (apart from the shops).
Steak and baked potato for dinner tonight.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire. I’m late this morning. Up three times during the night and then didn’t drop off until five. Son in law rang yesterday to see if I could recommend a round walk in a part of the Peak District they weren’t familiar with, so I suggested one that will take them across two gritstone edges with wonderful views. He suggested I might like to go but sadly I know I couldn’t do it now. Too steep in parts and rough underfoot. I’m thinking of writing a book called “walking for wimps”!
Looks like a day in today apart from a food shopping trip.
Have the best day you can folks.

I have an empty too but there are always domestic tasks if I get round to them. I have spent the last couple of weeks binge reading the seven Shardlake novels and am still in the sixteenth century so need to catch up with modern life and it’s complexities.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Aug-24 08:55:50

Morning everyone from a grey damp S E Essex.

Popping down the road to the butchers first thing, then I have nothing planned other than sofa, coffee and reading, bliss.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a dull, grey West Yorkshire.
I had an unsettled night so I've been awake for ages, reading in bed and drinking coffee.
My cat ( a rescue, adopted 6 weeks ago) has settled in well and we are getting used to each other's ways. He's very affectionate and enjoys cuddles and knee time.
My new TV arrives today. The old one finally gave up but it doesn't owe me and I do enjoy a film so I hope it's not too difficult to set up.
It's my sisters birthday next week so I need to buy a card. I have got her a heated blanket and a bottle of Baileys.
I hope everyone has the best day that they can 💐

Good morning everyone from a very dull Severnside. I thought I could hear thunder rumbling but it was a car.

I can see a squirrel on top of the telephone pole with a bird hopping about on the lines.

My friend came by yesterday and told me of her summer of woe. She was only here a short time with several phone calls and finally family demands meant she had to go.

Today I’ll potter about mostly indoors I expect as it’s dreary.

Good wishes to all 🌺

Good morning all. A lovely September's morning on the Angus coast. In two hours' time we'll be tai chi-ing on the beach. I hope I've read the tide table correctly because from here the water looks high. I'll not be flavour of the month if I've got it wrong! But the tea and toasted tea cakes are always good at the Pavilion 😉.
DD and NewMan are on their way to climb our local Munro, Mount Keen, today. It's a long walk to and from the hill, but they will be over to see me here afterwards, bearing fish and chips for supper. Lovely!
I got my hearing aid back yesterday so life is much easier again. But really, why can't people just think! They sold me the blue tooth aids, which connect to my mobile. So when one of them isn't working the phone link goes too. So. "We'll phone you when it's ready". No, please email I said. And they phoned me and left a voice mail, which of course I couldn't hear. The message was from a Perth number so I guessed it was from the hearing people and went along there after my visit to the hairdresser. The young man I spoke to couldn't find it, but "If you go away for 15 minutes or so I'll phone you when I have it". NO!! Smiling in adversity I explained about hearing loss and telephones and was shown to a seat and the heating aid materialised like magic! I feel like a new person 😁
So lovely to hear that your knee and hips saga is over Mizuna - you've been so stoical throughout it all and I know you'll enjoy this new lease of life.
Gingster it's so wonderful to hear of your DD enjoying the normal things in life just now after all that she's been through.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend everyone x

Good morning from a dull and rainy Black Country.

Good walk yesterday morning with u3a walking group. Along Staffordshire railway walk to Aldersley then back to Compton.

Popped to Mums for lunch, then took her to a Doctors appointment. She now has to have a blood test, to see if there is any reason why she is struggling to walk more than 5 minutes.

Then we went over to DD's so Mum could give DGD2 some money for doing so well in her exams.

No real plans today, was hoping to get into garden, but looks like no chance today

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

Mizuna, what a lovely upbeat post. Brook, your holiday sounds lovely.

Having been nowhere all week, and DH is reluctant to do anything these days I decided to drive to Braehead, my least favourite place to drive too, Too many roundabouts and lanes make me rather anxious.
However I have made a conscious decision. Rather than wallow, I plan to try and get back to my former, independent and fearless self, health permitting.😉
My worst fears were realised. I took a short cut I knew, only to find parked cars on both sides ( hospital staff park there and walk) of the road made it difficult for anything to pass.
To my horror, I saw a bus coming towards me, with a line of cars behind it and looking in my mirror, there were as many behind me. There was no way anyone could reverse. The traffic came to a standstill. I cursed myself for thinking I was so smart.
Later I encountered a five way set of temporary traffic lights. I was first in the queue at the red light and had absolutely no idea where to go, there were so many cones!
Of course there was a line of cars and buses behind me! I wished I had just stayed at home!

An unexpected encounter with a friend I hadn't seen for years, meant I was there for ages.
She was left a young widow, with three young children. We were on a night out, and our menfolk playing football, when her husband suddenly dropped dead during the game. That memory is etched in my brain.
Years later, exactly the same thing happened to her daughter.
I have so much admiration for her.

I was exhausted and so annoyed with feeble self at being so slow and struggling to walk, and battling for bargains with the hoardes of elderly women in M&S that instead of taking the usual convoluted route, I decided to brave the massive multi lane roundabout. I just wanted home.
One wrong move and I would have been on the motorway, going in the wrong direction! 😱

Instead of my planned rest, I found umpteen emails from the PP, trying to organise everything, before he leaves.

Today, I will do little, before opening up the church for the Vigil Mass.
I suspect DS2 may appear with BabyD, to pick up her chute.
DH spent hours dismantling it, when we couldn't get it into either car. I have missed her this week. Of course, I shall see my beloved Dollie tonight.
She was stopped by a teacher this week, who asked her if she was new and what was her name.
On hearing it, he asked: Is Marydoll your granny, she was my teacher!
Dollie replied:^ No! She is my GRAN!
The other gran, my rival 😉 is granny.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Good morning from an overcast NE, only a low probability of rain this afternoon.
Today is DS and DIL's 21st wedding anniversary which is brass, don't think they would appreciate candlesticks or ornaments.
I am not sure whether they will visit today, they may enjoy the time to themselves, GD1 is going to a party and staying overnight and GD2 is still in Menorca.

My sister came yesterday afternoon and we had a glass of wine and savoury nibbles while we chatted.
It was after 7pm when she left so I had a ready meal which I had bought in anticipation.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend.

Liberty Sat 24-Aug-24 08:10:14

Good morning from a grey, damp Suffolk,so different from yesterday.

I couldn’t believe how busy the train was coming back from Ipswich yesterday afternoon. . It is usually quite busy on Fridays with people coming up for the weekend and alighting at the station nearest to Southwold but they streamed off in their dozens. Even at my station ,which is the next one up the line, where there is normally me and 1 or 2 others alighting. Yesterday there were over 30.

For years now we have always stayed at home on bank holidays and this one will be no different. DD1 and family are not visiting this weekend as she has symptoms of COVID and doesn’t want to risk giving it to us. We’ll catch up with them asap later.

Enjoy your fish and chips Gingster. The last time I went with a friend a week or so ago there was a coach party eating indoors with tables laid and napkins! How the cafe has changed over the years from the original much smaller one with the jam doughnut machine in the corner.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Bonnybanko Sat 24-Aug-24 08:06:17

Good morning Bellasnana I think I might have a good day today here on the east coast of Fife, I was at my the local bingo yesterday with my 2 carers and we all won a sum of money - me I won the most £200 to be exact.

I’ll have a field day on Amazon sometime this week.

I’ll watch sky cinema today

It’s really great to get surprise visits from family your twins will be growing up so fast, bet you get loads of hugs.

Have a good day all, remember to drink plenty (water) and if you’re lucky enough to have a warm day keeps safe get the sun cream on otherwise you'll end up with a leg like mine

Grandmabatty Sat 24-Aug-24 08:04:12

HelterSkelter1 thank you very much. I never thought about using redundant napkins!

Stilllearning Sat 24-Aug-24 08:01:08

Another good morning from South Lanarkshire. The weather yesterday was much better than the forecast predicted so I hope the same happens for your weekend with the children baubles

madeleine I hope you start to feel a bit more ‘up’ soon, getting out of the house for a while usually helps doesn’t it?

On Thursday I visited my friend with memory loss who is still in hospital in Paisley after breaking her hip when she fell as the Waverley was docking after a day’sail. That’s almost seven weeks now and she’s still far from being able to get reliably from sitting to standing. A daily four hour round trip for her husband as there hasn’t been a bed free to transfer her to our local hospital. Both in their mid eighties so very difficult.

Your description of your holiday is lovely to read brook, it’s lifting my spirits!

I was a good girl yesterday and did lots of very much needed housework so am looking forward to coffee with a friend this afternoon. Wishing everyone a good day especially those with troubling aches and pains.

Georgesgran Sat 24-Aug-24 07:58:55

Good morning from Durham. A gloomy morning forecast, but a brighter sunny afternoon.
The Sky saga continues - I’m close to telling them to remove it. I think everything I do is problematic - compared to friends anyway. I have a lot going round in my head at the moment - expensive choices too.
I have an empty today - I really should make the best of it.
Best wishes to all. X

cornergran Sat 24-Aug-24 07:55:07

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset. If the forecast is right the sun will appear late afternoon. Our garden needs rain and thankfully the wind is less strong today.

While there was slightly better news of our friend yesterday her daughter’s mental and physical health is becoming a major concern.

Will get back to removing copious quantities of dust from the carpet installation, ran out of energy yesterday, before trotting off for an afternoon tea. Looking forward to that.

That’s very good news Mizuna. Enjoy what you can of the day everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 24-Aug-24 07:52:57

Grandmabatty. I dont do anything exciting with my lavender heads except make very large lavender bags when they are dried. Last year I used some old unused serviettes in a very pretty material which had been languishing in a drawer. Cut in half and sewn up. These will go in with the summer duvets and clothes when they are stored away and I may refresh last years bags. I have so much lavender I can be very generous.

glammagran Sat 24-Aug-24 07:50:42

Good morning from dull, wet Wiltshire.

DD has been looking after DS’s dog for a few days while the family are on holiday. The 3 year old is completely smitten, his sister not quite as much. She is a brilliant dog and doesn’t pull at all. Photo from video as only images allowed of Luna being walked by him.

Making a very large Italian, chicken, tomato and cream dish which should last us some time frozen into portions. Best time of year to make as tomatoes and plentiful and ripe. I was going to get them in the market but nobody was there yesterday for some reason so got them in Sainsbury’s instead.

Have a good day all.

monk08 Sat 24-Aug-24 07:41:20

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
I need to go into town first thing to the bank then the days my own friends coming this evening.
My baby brother is 58 today will give him a call later.
Hope those with aches and pain get some relief as the day goes on.
Will catch up later with everybody's happenings usual Saturday full English calling.
Enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Redcar Sat 24-Aug-24 07:40:00

Good morning everyone from a damp and cool mid Essex. Heavy rain forecast today which will be good for the garden and hopefully will refill the water butts. Yesterday I had to cut down several of the huge hollyhocks which had been battered by the gale.
Today I’ll drop a repeat prescription at the pharmacy and then not do a lot. Family are coming for a light lunch on Monday so will need to tidy and clean the dining room & put the high chair together for the toddler. She won’t want to sit in it & most of her lunch will probably end up on the floor, but DD1’s dog will clean the floor for me.
Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Sat 24-Aug-24 07:39:01

Good morning all from a rainy North Leicestershire.

Bitting and bobbing this morning and to our next door neighbour's for a barbecue to celebrate her 60th birthday - hope it stops raining!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Sat 24-Aug-24 07:37:46

Good morning all and we’re in for a wet day here at the Suffolk seaside.

We had such a lovely day yesterday with Dd and little DGD. The weather improved greatly and we went off to a local Regatta and watched the children’s races. Gd hand fed the ducks . I don’t know where the swans had disappeared to. Perhaps they’d herded them off to a further part of the mere.

We then went on a pony and trap ride around the village and down to Aldeburgh and back. It was delightful.

Ice creams and a wander around the emporium where Dgd bought a couple of treasures.

Back home and then a visit to the local park , and then a dig on the beach. Phew! It so lovely to see Dd being able to do all theses things. How long for, who knows! 🙏

Today will be very different due to the weather.
Fish and chips at the beach cafe. You know it well Liberty.
A walk with little pooch in the rain!

Back home for afternoon indoor pursuits.

Happy holiday Brook
Such good news for you Mizuna
Get yourself out for a while Madeleine. You’ll feel so much better. 🤞. Our internet here has been so unpredictable this week. 🙄.
Take care all with aches and pains.🌸
