Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight at the moment but its clear and dry here in brackley at the moment.
A day of tidy up housework etc for me , after breakfast ,a day indoors watching TV.
My condition seems to vary with the weather , to warm effects me like a bad day ,and if its just right then a different reaction again.
Take Care,
Mick

Does anybody else find Sundays the worst when you are on your own?
Somehow weekends seem particularly hard but Sunday even more so as it is traditionally a “family” day - a “couples” day , not one for coffee with a girlfriend or a soup and bread lunch.
On your own you have to be prepared to take the initiative or offer the invitation, but somehow that’s harder when everybody “seems” (I know they’re not!) to be off out for a family Sunday roast
Lunch at the pub? Trailing round a shop? Hardly.
It just isn’t as hard on weekdays

RosiesMaw2 Sun 25-Aug-24 11:02:11

Good morning all from N Bucks.
Yesterday’s (welcome) rain has cleared and we have sunshine and blue skies again. Bit of a breeze though so a good “drying day”
A couple of years ago I too gave in to admitting how I felt (still feel) about Sundays. There are coping mechanisms but I’m always quite relieved when it’s Monday again. It was a long thread so don’t feel obliged to read it all but I was reassured by the number of people who felt roughly the same- so a bit less alone

There is a long thread about Sunday, started by MawBe in May this year. It's called Sunday, bloody Sunday. Lots of thoughts/ideas on there. Easy to find if you Google it

Good morning Mick and all from a rain promised northwest coast.
Writing this after a completely cramp filled night. Amazing that cramp can go on all night long. So in and out of bed like a blue *ed fly…
It came about after my fun filled night out in the city. Met old friend on the train, glammed up. Nice meal at our favourite restaurant, then on to wine bars and even dancing! Good fun and I had taken some fold up flats for the end of the night when even my tiny kitten heels proved too much.

Home on the train, not too late and only two glasses of wine.
Nice night paid for with the severe cramp…
Friend wants to book a Canary Island holiday next month. She’s a lot younger than me with more energy. I’m still waiting for surgery too, so we’ll see.
Nice work Karma and a pleasant Sunday to all🌺
.

Good morning , it’s looking a bit miserable out in Co Armagh
I don’t mind Sundays too much , OH always left me to go visit his sister and his Mother, so I never expected an outing , I love reading the Sunday papers and trying the puzzles
Great jacket Karma
Wishing everyone a lovely day j

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Late up this morning so haven't read through yet, will catch up later.
What a lovely jacket Karma ideal for cycling we certainly have some talented needle women on this site, I can just about sew a button on😀.
Have found a small Turkey crown whilst looking in the freezer so that's dinner sorted.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

BlueSapphire Sun 25-Aug-24 08:52:28

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine dry day forecast.
It bucketed it down until mid-afternoon yesterday, so I did not get my outing to the shops. Stayed in, caught up with the newspapers, did all the puzzle pages and read my new book.

Will get to the shops later this morning, with a slight adjustment to the route as the buses are different on a Sunday. Plus will fit in my trip to Matalan and Hobbycraft, which are next door to each other...

Another one here who dislikes Sundays intensely; I always try to plan something to do to fill the day. I often go to the cinema if a film takes my fancy. Just miss my DH - we would usually have a drive out to a country pub either for lunch or just a drink and a proper chat, then have a home cooked roast dinner later. I try to live my best life, as he would have wanted me to do.

Hope all your Sundays are pleasant.

Taichinan Sun 25-Aug-24 08:46:28

Good morning all from a sunny, cloudy, windy and no doubt showery cool day on the Angus coast. Definitely September weather!
That jacket is absolutely perfect karma!
I'm glad you're enjoying getting out and about again so painlessly Mizuna.
Sorry you're feeling lonely grandmattie. I always felt my 'aloneness' more when out and about, and yes, more so in Sundays which were always family days. But they pass flowers
Yesterday was lovely, with 23 turning out for tai chi on the beach, followed by 'tea and sticky buns' in the Pavilion. DD and NewMan bagged their Munro and then popped in here with fish 'n chips for a couple of hours. They suffered under a rain/sleet/hail shower on the summit, but otherwise enjoyed their excursion through vast acres of blooming heather. I know that area so well, although I was always a rambler rather than a hillwalker, and it was lovely to hear it talked about - brought back so many memories.
Before they left they picked some Victoria plums - they're just becoming ripe now and are delicious - I shall pick a few for myself later.
Anyway, today is going to be a quiet one and I promise to complete the dreaded (by me) tai chi paperwork!
Enjoy your sunny Sunday everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All. After being woken with rain beating on the window I’m looking out at bright sunshine. A changeable day is forecast.

Our afternoon tea was delicious and beautifully presented. Far too much, a lot came home with us. Not sure about today. If it stays fine I’ll attack the climbing roses, or they will attack me, if the rain returns it’s admin for me and I suspect a snooze for Mr C.

You’re very talented karma. Thoughts go to all who find this day a difficult one along with a hope that Sunday is gentle with us all.

EkwaNimitee Sun 25-Aug-24 08:41:32

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. Another sun and cloud day I think.
I've been pleased to find a charity that wanted to take some practically new furniture items off me and collect them. One other well known one made all sorts of excuses not to want them and they weren't cheap and nasty things. I didn't want to Freegle them, I wanted a charity to make money.

Yesterday included a trip to Sainsbury's and a long phone chat to my sister whom I'm finally going to see soon. It's the wretched trains that keep putting me off, that particular line is bad for cancelling them at very short notice.
In the afternoon I was busy outside, in part pruning my minarette crab apples which have grown phenomenally this year and provided me with a good supply of fruit for jelly.
Watched a horror film in the evening, DH would have been behind the sofa! It wasn't rubbish though.
Today, I should go for a walk at some point and I have a lot of reading I want to catch up with.

That jacket looks a very professional job karma. I wish more cyclists would wear eye-catching colours instead of all black.

I hope you all enjoy the day.

Marydoll Sun 25-Aug-24 08:24:16

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

DS and DIL are doing a sponsored walk for the Beaton Cancer Centre, in memory of a dear friend, who recently passed away. My mum and BIL were treated there, so it is a cause close to our heart. Many of my son's staff are walking too, unfortunately the weather forecast isn't good.

Karma, I knew your outfit would be amazing, I would love to be as talented as you.

We are having traditional steak pie and strawberry and raspberry pavlova for tea. It is already made in advance. Yippee.

For Bellasnana, GM and all those, who feel the same, I send you virtual hugs. 💐

Enjoy your day folks, whatever your plans.

NanKate Sun 25-Aug-24 08:22:33

Good morning Mick and All from an improving South Bucks weather wise.

I pay for my 2 grandsons to have their hair cut regularly however my 13 year old grandson has it all cut short around the sides and back, but has this great mop of hair hanging down the front 😏It must be the fashion.

Off to a large craft fair today. Bound to buy something I didn’t know I wanted.

Jaxjacky Sun 25-Aug-24 08:19:54

Morning from a sunny S Hants after yesterdays rain, my back continues its slow healing and rather curtails my activities.
Goodness karmalady I’m stunned, you’re amazing.
Enjoy your out and abouts.

Good morning from a sunny NE, bright but cool and the heating is on for the seventh day in a row.
Had a quiet day yesterday, it was DS and DIL's anniversary so they did not visit. I watched quite a lot of TV including Sam Smith at the Proms.
I received some more photos from GD, taken in Mahon market, they looked so happy.

SIL is coming for dinner, I haven't seen him since the end of June, looking forward to hearing about the Provencal holiday and whether he has managed to tame the garden in Brussels.
Have a good day.

Greyduster Sun 25-Aug-24 08:18:23

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a bright but cool South Yorkshire. We’re expecting rain again later. Bellasnana I have a loft full of GS’s Playmobil here; castles, fire stations, farms, you name it. There’s so much play value in it. I don’t know how long I’m supposed to hang on to it, but DD seems peculiarly reluctant for me to get rid of it.
I had a fairly sedentary day yesterday until I hauled myself out for a walk in the afternoon which I enjoyed. I’m cooking a roast pork dinner for DD and the menfolk later today and I might persuade GS to sing for his supper and run the mower over my lawn!
Have the best day you can, folks.

luluaugust Sun 25-Aug-24 08:17:13

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. DS and family are coming for tea and cake later, they are just back from a short holiday so we are looking forward to hearing all about it. Otherwise, cooking and ironing and I hope a walk.
Karma your jacket is amazing, great skill required I imagine.
Best wishes.

Beechnut Sun 25-Aug-24 08:15:53

Good morning everyone from Severnside.
I’m still in bed and it looks bright through the curtains so I think we are in for a nice day.

I didn’t do much yesterday. My friend came back again and we had a better chat than the day before.

I’ve a few things to sort out today and I might go and refuel the car.
That’s a great looking jacket karma.

Enjoy your roasts 🍖🌺

Liberty Sun 25-Aug-24 08:10:14

Good morning from sunny Suffolk which is most welcome after the chilly wet day yesterday.

I don’t usually bake unless we have visitors but I did yesterday. I made a Dorset apple cake with some windfall apples and DH and I enjoyed chunks of it whilst still warm.

My mother always used to say we had to let her cakes and tarts be completely cold before we could have any otherwise we’d get tummy ache. I’ve often wondered if it was to stop us taking bits to taste. I don’t remember questioning why it was ok to eat hot sponge puddings!

I’ve just spent 10 mins drinking my cuppa and watching a Sparrowhawk totally motionless perched on the overhead wires outside the sitting room windows. We’ve noticed more of them this year than ever before, usually by the piles of pigeon feathers in various parts of the garden.

I’m about to read the posts but noticed as I scrolled through the amazing jacket of Karmalady’s. I love the contrasting black parts.

A peaceful day here for us. I hope all have a similar day.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 25-Aug-24 07:59:54

Morning all, the sky is blue and the sun is out yippee 🙌

No real plans for today other than roast chicken around 7pm. May wonder out, may not 🤷‍♀️

Wow Karmalady that jacket! You are very talented.

Have a peaceful day folks 🙋‍♀️

Harris27 Sun 25-Aug-24 07:55:23

Good morning all from sunny North East. Gardening day planned and light lunch. Have been off work for the last week and enjoyed the time off. However will return Wednesday for shorter week. Plan to use time wisely making sure books are read and garden tidy. The nights are cutting in very quickly up here early autumn coming?. Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sun 25-Aug-24 07:38:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9°, wet and windy. The wind has been a feature of the summer here. Karma you are very skilled.
Yesterday I met my friend at the garden centre for breakfast. We enjoyed our meal and a chat. I did some housework later but still felt under the weather. Dinner was a tuna salad instead of anything heavy.
I had a slightly better sleep last night and feel better again today. An Aldi shop followed by ironing is planned, then a visit to mum this afternoon. Have a good day t

Good morning, it’s another cool, and probably about to rain again, day.

A change of plans yesterday meant that DS’s visit has been postponed so we had a very lazy day. Today probably won’t be too different as I’m finding this horrible weather is really affecting my mood.

Anyhoo, I’ll go to Mass then get the newspaper and see what the rest of the day brings.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Sun 25-Aug-24 07:30:43

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where we have blue skies and sunshine again! Yesterday’s rain was very welcome, but enough for now.
Roses you must be so fed up with your summerhouse saga, hope the man turns up tomorrow and finishes it for you.
Today I’ll check the garden and cut back anything damaged by Friday’s gale and yesterday’s rain. I have a food delivery today as am entertaining the family tomorrow for a snack lunch, which always means a lot of food!. I’ll speak to my friend in Kent later for our weekly catch up, otherwise a pottering day!
Have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Sun 25-Aug-24 07:28:26

My London family (3 + dog) are due later this morning so a lively day in prospect. One of my landline handsets finally gave up the ghost yesterday, replacements arriving today so DGS will I hope set them up for me - need to take advantage of youthful expertise, but otherwise will just see how the day pans out.

Gingster Sun 25-Aug-24 07:24:16

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here at the Suffolk coast.
Yesterday rained all day so our day was rather curtailed by the weather. DGD and I had a lovely, damp walk/run along the beach with little pooch. Her throwing the ball and pooch running like mad to catch it with her, skipping and squealing after it.
We had fish and chips at the beach cafe which didn’t disappoint. Back home for drawing, painting stones and playing Yahtzee.
We got down to the beach around 5 as there was a gap in the rain, for some digging and sand art. 😉. She loves everything, and throws herself into it. Not like the teens who spend a lot of time in bed , on their phones or reading, when they’re here 🙄.

Back to Essex today - goodness knows how we’ll get everything in the car 🫤. Oh well!

RosesandLilac I think you are patience personified! It will get done and you’ll love it.🏡. 🤞.

Fabulous jacket Karma . I wouldn’t know where to begin.

Thoughts to all those lonely grans , especially on a Sunday. 💐

Take care and enjoy the day.🌸
