Today , I read that a six year old boy was handcuffed and his mother , partner and uncle set their dog on him as a punishment for not clearing up after the dog .
He's receiving treatment in hospital and hopefully will make a full recovery .
Perhaps physically without scars , but mentally from abuse like that ?
I wonder what else they did .
They have been arrested .
The mother is claiming that she didn't know that it's illegal to handcuff a child .
And I'm wondering what else she's claiming .
That she didn't know that it's illegal to set your dog on a child ?

Absolutely sickening..

JaneJudge Tue 27-Aug-24 10:38:40

sad

Babs03 Tue 27-Aug-24 10:39:13

Depraved behaviour. Hopefully the child will be fostered/adopted by kind and loving caregivers.
The mother, partner, and uncle should serve long prison sentences and have absolutely no rights to see the child when released.

Horrendous! I hope the adults are put away for a very long time and the little boy is taken into a loving home. Poor little boy

AGAA4 Tue 27-Aug-24 11:11:44

Poor little boy. How can people be so cruel to a young child. Lock them away for ever and hopefully he will be rehomed to kind parents.

crazyH Tue 27-Aug-24 11:23:21

Despicable 😡- I haven’t read about it yet. Poor little darling - I hope he is fostered for the moment and eventually adopted by a kind and loving family …

nanaK54 Tue 27-Aug-24 11:50:51

I wish that I hadn't read that.
Poor, poor little boy.

ferry23 Tue 27-Aug-24 11:51:49

Don't you just despair when you read things like this? Poor little chap.

It's completely beyond my comprehension that people can behave like this. It left me feeling quite tearful.

mae13 Tue 27-Aug-24 13:43:15

The mother sounds as if she is viciously cunning in claiming she thought it was legal to handcuff a child (yeah, tell me another!) or she's just a plain thicko.

A candidate for locking-them-up-and-throwing-away-the-key.

MissAdventure Tue 27-Aug-24 13:46:00

My comments are never popular in these threads, but they'd be candidates for more than locking up.

Absolute wastes of space.

I have noticed that there is often a man (in this case two) who is not the child's father, involved in cases of child cruelty.

I know also that there are many step-dads out there who are brilliant with their step-children so I am not generalising.

I think the mother is probably a moron as she allowed this to happen and if she really thought it was OK to handcuff a six year old.

dalrymple23 Tue 27-Aug-24 14:05:50

I just wish that I could comprehend what goes on in the minds of these cruel, evil people, I can't get anywhere near there. We are reading about things like this more and more. These poor, poor babies.

Why should we be burdened with the cost of having them locked up? Along with the key, these nasty people should also thrown away.

Don't anyone dare give me a lecture about "deprived childhoods", "chaotic teens" and so on. Rubbish. Plenty of help out there to sort their lives out.

Sorry, I am bloody angry about this.

Couldn’t agree with you more Dalrymple23.
Anyone who treats a child in this cruel, depraved manner has no defence whatsoever in my book. Evil to the core.

valdavi Tue 27-Aug-24 15:17:55

Maybe this incident saved his life, with a mother with that attitude to him he could have ended up starved or killed if it hadn't come to light. I hope he hasn't been suffering for all his six years & that she was a decent mother to him at some point before something changed her.

Words fail me at times. Poor little lad. Hopefully his life will improve from here on. With the right people he could blossom. I always think of the little boy who had his legs amputated due to physical abuse from his parents. Sorry his name escapes me but his foster family, although I think they may have adopted him now, have turned his life around. Out of this tragic story there may well be hope.

Tony Hudgell. Brave little soul.

Indigo8 Tue 27-Aug-24 15:49:13

This happened in Ohio USA, but we can't say that it couldn't happen in the UK.

Allira Tue 27-Aug-24 16:07:08

This made me cry tears of rage!
Poor little boy, I do hope they are all put away for a very long time and that he now has a chance of being fostered and perhaps adopted by a loving family and has a chance of a normal life.

I've heard some horrible things over the years but this has to be one of the worst.

Tony was on the television news a few weeks ago, with his lovely adoptive family.

In my opinion if someone is cruel to a child or animal there really is no hope for them, and I will use the word ‘evil’ to describe them.

Georgesgran Tue 27-Aug-24 16:17:30

DD2 has been following a case in the USA, where as a punishment a boy is made to run on a treadmill, as fast as he can. Everytime he falls off he’s put back on. He was 6 years old when he died after this and his step-father has been jailed.

The case of Daniel Pelka will haunt me ‘til the day I die.

Agree - the two are often linked. Must admit I'm often wary of people who actively dislike animals shock
I recall many years ago a friend was training to be a social worker. She was told to take note (in a home visit type situation) of how any pets/animals in the home were treated as this would be a good indicator of how anyone vulnerable human (child/disabled/elderly) would likely be treated too.

But that's one of the major points of these threads - a platform to express individual opinions and, for the most part, agree to disagree when the occasion should arise.

Whatever the moderators may query.

Horrific I hope they throw away the key for all three of them andi hope the little chap is given to someone with care and compassion
What awful awful people they are
