What are you even on about? That's very rude of you to suggest it's baloney or picked up from the Daily Mail!

It's an extremely traumatic story, but I wonder at your reasons for calling it "baloney" . Is that perhaps, your saying for everything you are ignorant of?

It's so heartbreaking. I'm sure many kids are not this fortunate to have their story heard.

There are some people who should never reproduce.

There's no rehabilitation for such sadistic behaviour. I hope the little lad finds a proper kind and loving home, bless his heart. He will need many years of therapy too.

i read it in the Daily Mail on line, this morning watermeadow. The DM often has articles about cruelty to children who live in the US or Australia. Are you suggesting it’s baloney therefore untrue?
I only wish it wasn’t true . The capacity to abuse and terrify children that exists in some people is beyond what most if could imagine.

Well, when they go to jail they can expect a very particular kind of retribution to be handed out to them by other prisoners, even the most hardened crim can’t stand those who abuse children.

Horrific I hope they throw away the key for all three of them andi hope the little chap is given to someone with care and compassion

Agree - the two are often linked. Must admit I'm often wary of people who actively dislike animals
I recall many years ago a friend was training to be a social worker. She was told to take note (in a home visit type situation) of how any pets/animals in the home were treated as this would be a good indicator of how anyone vulnerable human (child/disabled/elderly) would likely be treated too.

DD2 has been following a case in the USA, where as a punishment a boy is made to run on a treadmill, as fast as he can. Everytime he falls off he’s put back on. He was 6 years old when he died after this and his step-father has been jailed.

The case of Daniel Pelka will haunt me ‘til the day I die.

I always think of the little boy who had his legs amputated due to physical abuse from his parents. Sorry his name escapes me but his foster family, although I think they may have adopted him now, have turned his life around. Out of this tragic story there may well be hope.

Tony was on the television news a few weeks ago, with his lovely adoptive family.

This made me cry tears of rage!
Poor little boy, I do hope they are all put away for a very long time and that he now has a chance of being fostered and perhaps adopted by a loving family and has a chance of a normal life.

I've heard some horrible things over the years but this has to be one of the worst.

This happened in Ohio USA, but we can't say that it couldn't happen in the UK.

Maybe this incident saved his life, with a mother with that attitude to him he could have ended up starved or killed if it hadn't come to light. I hope he hasn't been suffering for all his six years & that she was a decent mother to him at some point before something changed her.

Don't anyone dare give me a lecture about "deprived childhoods", "chaotic teens" and so on. Rubbish. Plenty of help out there to sort their lives out.

I just wish that I could comprehend what goes on in the minds of these cruel, evil people, I can't get anywhere near there. We are reading about things like this more and more. These poor, poor babies.

Why should we be burdened with the cost of having them locked up? Along with the key, these nasty people should also thrown away.

I have noticed that there is often a man (in this case two) who is not the child's father, involved in cases of child cruelty.

I know also that there are many step-dads out there who are brilliant with their step-children so I am not generalising.

I think the mother is probably a moron as she allowed this to happen and if she really thought it was OK to handcuff a six year old.

The mother sounds as if she is viciously cunning in claiming she thought it was legal to handcuff a child (yeah, tell me another!) or she's just a plain thicko.
