Ectropion procedure

I have always had very watery eyes particularly on the right side and my eye consultant now tells me my bottom eyelids have drooped away from my eye so the tears cannot find the tear ducts. Apparently a simple stitch each side to tighten the bottom eyelid may help my eyes cope with the drainage. I am ok mainly in the summer months but air conditioning in shopping centres and supermarkets render me with blurred vision due to water lying on the eye unable to drain away. The cold winter months are a problem too.

Has anyone else had ectropion surgery and if so did it work? Would you recommend going ahead? I am just a bit anxious about it.

I don't know anything about this procedure but it sounds quite simple and if eye consultant recommends, I would go for it. I know anything involving eyes is a bit scary - I had 2 eye surgeries as a child for squint and can still remember feeling nervous.

My friend had this procedure (though I didn't know that was what it was called!) and seemed to have no problem. She was delighted with the result.
