I'd add 20 years and silver hair.

Black slim jeans, white Tshirt, lovely Chuck's, nice navy jacket, and pearls.

Oh dear. This thread has depressed me with talk of winter clothing. I'm setting off on my summer holiday next week: going to North Yorkshire and wondering what to pack. There are summer things in my wardrobe that haven't been worn at all in this miserable summer and I've an unhappy feeling they won't get worn in N Yorks, either.
Now, where are my thermal vests....

I recently discovered Uniqlo (online) for casual items...the 'heattech' items are really good, especially as the weather gets colder.
I found the prices reasonable and the items I bought have all washed well.

It is 1st September and too early to be looking for winter clothes. The autimn/winter ranges have yet to reach the shops and may not do for some weeks, so it is too early to look for winter clothes. The choice will be too limited.

Meanwhile, look around you. Look at what ither women are wearing that you like. Do old fashioned things like look at the fashion pages in newspapers and magazines and get your eye in for what you like and would feel comfortable in.

Forget about fashion, it is ephemeral and changes with the wind. I was brought up to develop a style of dressing, not to follow fashion. Style means wearing clothes you feel confident in - and in my case comfortable as well.

As for age, forget it. Anyone, any age can wear anything. There exists photo in our family taken a few years ago when I was 75, DDiL was 49 and DGD. The three of us all dressed in leggings with sweaters of various types and clumpy footwear. As i sad age is irrelevant.

Kiwiqueen123, I have several pairs of M&S ‘cosy’ jeggings and live in them during the chillier months. And I’m mid 70s.

I’d go for comfort and warmth Kiwiqueen as you have ‘dressy’ clothes.
Nothing wrong with warm leggings/jeggings, try and get longer tops to cover right down to your thighs, look at ‘long’ ones if you are tall, no gaps when you sit or bend. I also buy from Supermarkets, my favourite jumper, ten years old, is from George at Asda, Babs also made good suggestions at reasonably priced outlets. Good luck.

M&S do seem to have some rather nice heavy cord jeggings which I thought would be ideal especially in the country with woollies etc.
I’m a great fan of Seasalt and Joules who seem to have a good understanding of comfort and smartish casual. Look at White Stuff too - if you check out their Instagram or FB videos they showcase some of their pieces on “real” people, sometimes even their customers.

www.damart.co.uk and www.woolovers.com have some lovely stylish clothes.

I’d invest in a cashmere jumper, well worth it to be warm. They can be dressed up or casual.

Never heard of chums - off for a look.

Easy to lose hope in high street shops, I avoid them most of the time. Look online at LandsEnd, CottonTraders, Matalan, and Bonmarche, Roman are also quite good sometimes.
And don’t discard Chums as oldie stuff I bought some lovely jeans from them.
