Listening to radio this morning I heard that tickets for Oasis concert at Wembley where over 400.00 each!!! This is without hotel, travel and catering costs on the day 🙈🙈🙈

lemsip Mon 02-Sept-24 11:16:37

it's credit cards all the way!

Casdon Mon 02-Sept-24 11:20:27

Strange comment lemsip. When you buy tickets online, using a credit card is the only sensible way to do it? Using a credit card doesn’t mean you don’t have the funds to pay for the tickets.

Bob Dylan is at the Albert Hall this autumn
Cheapest ticket £220 and nearly all gone

We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at our party this Saturday night and I will ask the DJ to play some Oasis songs. We live in Manchester so I bet there will be many rousing renditions!

Welcome back 😁

Given that buying tickets online is really the only way to do it now, how else are you meant to buy them unless you use a credit or debit card?

JaneJudge Mon 02-Sept-24 11:29:45

I suppose a concert is a one off expense, a bit like a holiday.

So sorry that was meant to be a PM 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Shinamae Mon 02-Sept-24 11:30:44

I am getting in a proper muddle here 🤷‍♀️😁

We weren’t successful sadly. My DS, DD, DDoutL and I were all trying to secure tickets but no luck. I do think there may well be additional dates but tickets will come up on the legitimate resale sites so there’s still a chance that they will get to one of the concerts.

Each to their own! I suspect the OP was trying to get a controversial thread going about Cost of Living etc., but failed. I am not a fan of Oasis but I am delighted for those of you who are and have succeeded in getting tickets. smile

Ziggy62 Mon 02-Sept-24 13:08:03

I'm not quite sure what point OP is making 🤔
I went to see Stevie Nicks last month, tickets weren't cheap (weren't £400 each either), paid for flights to London, 3 nights in Kensington hotel plus food and drinks, train fares etc.
Last year bought VIP tickets to see Hollywood vampires in Birmingham, again flights, hotel, train fares, food and drink.
Lost count how many times I saw David Bowie live in concert.
I've worked since I was a teenager, rarely go out socially (other than to music gigs), haven't had a holiday since before covid, drive an old Peugeot.
Who has the right to judge how other people spend their money?
Each to their own

Ziggy62 Mon 02-Sept-24 13:09:15

Oh well done to anyone lucky enough to get Oasis tickets, sadly my brother didn't
Have a wonderful time

Calendargirl Mon 02-Sept-24 13:09:19

I saw on our FB page someone grumbling about how she got carried away and paid far more than she had expected to.

“I shall be paying it off the credit card for ages!”

BlueBelle Mon 02-Sept-24 13:13:11

I was a 60 s girl and saw all the 60 s groups for about 10 bib at a local hotel
The stones, the searchers, Freddie and the dreamers, Gerry and the pacemakers, little Richard, The hollies Marianne Faithful a bit later Thin Lizzie were here saw The sweet and all the black crooners Brooke Benton, The Drifters, and so many more names
Those were the days

Just before lockdown we saw Michael Bublé at the NEC. I think it was about £90 but what a show he put on. Our seats were great - we could have touched him. I restrained myself!

HousePlantQueen Mon 02-Sept-24 13:18:52

Will any of you be like this....

Brilliant!

Kate1949 Mon 02-Sept-24 13:19:21

I saw many, many 60s stars too BlueBelle including The Beatles four times, Stones twice, The Kinks, Tom Jones, Cilla, Gene Pitney, Animals. Too many to list. Happy days.

Visgir1 Mon 02-Sept-24 13:22:17

Even a trip for x4 to see a popular stage show in London, plus train tickets, travel once there, plus meals your looking at around £600 for a day out.
I gave up trying to get Oasis tickets, but I wouldn't pay over £200 for them.

Tizliz Mon 02-Sept-24 13:22:39

We paid £60 twenty years ago for Dave Brubeck’s last ever tour of the UK, we didn’t bother when he came back the next year

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 13:36:08

Adele tickets were selling at around £600, and that was almost 7 years ago.

V3ra Mon 02-Sept-24 13:57:18

There is also a lot of trust in the concerts going ahead a year from now. Maybe its me that's missing something here?

keepingquiet Ticketmaster offer an "artist non-appearance" insurance premium option with their tickets.
I took it out when we booked tickets for Elton John's farewell tour.
Between Covid delays and Elton having an accident, it was five years from booking the tickets until the concert finally took place!

M0nica Mon 02-Sept-24 14:02:14

.....and in the past people have cast aspersions at me for admitting we love going to Glynebourne. We didn't go this year but tickets would have cost us between £100-£300 each- and with NO dynamic pricing, Pocket money prices compared with all these pop concerts.

And we take a picnic, drive there and back, park for free, and stay overnight in a small inexpensive B&B.

Proper cheap skates, us!

So was I Bluebelle, what an era, you bopped till you dropped. I have seen every star appearing at the Batley Variety Club. I had an autograph book filled with all the stars names, my aunt and uncle ran the theatre where they appeared and let me meet them and get their autographs. Goodness knows where it is now. I don't blame anyone for paying what they can afford to see something that may never happen again in their lifetime. I wish I could go back and do it all again.

We were so lucky, in at the beginning of the greatest music era of all time (in my opinion).

SueEH Tue 03-Sept-24 11:13:54

I tried but after leaving the app open for 7 hours finally got to the ticket page to find that the only ones left were accessible tickets with a free carer 🙄 By that point it was just an exercise in seeing how long it would take.
I wouldn’t have paid much more than £100 tho I’m not a mega fan, just love stadium gigs.
However, I am at the age that if I don’t see some if my favourites again now then there mightn’t be another chance so have happily paid big bucks for Genesis and Bruce Springsteen.
