Listening to radio this morning I heard that tickets for Oasis concert at Wembley where over 400.00 each!!! This is without hotel, travel and catering costs on the day 🙈🙈🙈

It is as it has always been. Some people hve money and some do not. Some think a ticket to hear Oasis something worth mortgaging their house to buy. Others wouldn't have a ticket if they were paid generously to have it.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Sept-24 09:05:37

The lowest price was £100 the £400 + ones are standing tickets which the youngsters want as it enables them to get down to the front if they are lucky.

I suppose it’s all down to one’s priorities.

I have paid £’s for concert tickets over the years, didn’t fancy seeing Oasis.

Aldom Mon 02-Sept-24 09:12:55

Travelsafar I know that young people request tickets to concerts as birthday or Christmas presents. They also save smaller monetary gifts towards these concerts. smile

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:14:27

They'll sell for much more than that, I expect.
Different people have different priorities, hence a thread a whole ago about fine dining.

If I was well, I would always go to a gig rather than a restaurant, or even a holiday.

The prices were inflated by Ticketmaster during the selling process, that’s what the fuss is all about, rather than the original ticket prices. I’m really excited because I’m going, my daughter was extremely lucky in the ticket purchasing lottery, and secured (seated) tickets for us at £205 each, which was the advertised price (Gigs and Tours website). If you love a band, the going rate for tickets for big names is always in that region. People choose to spend their money in different ways, and I can’t think of a much more enjoyable way of spending mine than seeing great acts live, whoever they are - but I know, we’re all different.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:37:54

Oh I've been waiting to see who would be going!!
I bet it'll be marvellous, the atmosphere, and all the real hardcore fans. smile

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Sept-24 09:40:12

Casdon yes Ticket Master use Dynamic Pricing like Airlines do.

The more people that are in queues/trying to purchase the price goes up!

Babs03 Mon 02-Sept-24 09:40:51

If they are die hard fans they will beg steal or borrow to raise the cash, doesn’t mean they will then have enough money to pay their bills.
Might be irresponsible but tbh everyone deserves a good time occasionally. Life is too short.

NotSpaghetti Mon 02-Sept-24 09:41:27

They started at £70 ish in Manchester.
They will inevitably go up and up.

keepingquiet Mon 02-Sept-24 09:43:51

There is plenty of money- especially if you are an Oasis fan I believe. There is also a lot of trust in the concerts going ahead a year from now. Maybe its me that's missing something here?

Casdon Mon 02-Sept-24 09:44:04

It will be amazing MissAdventure, my son and daughter are both super fans, and we’ve been talking for years about selling our souls to go if they ever reformed. We’re going to Cardiff, on the second night of the tour and the roof of the stadium will definitely be raised, Welsh fans sing the loudest and best, so it will be a brilliant night - only 10 months to wait.

FriedGreenTomatoes Mon 02-Sept-24 09:44:54

We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at our party this Saturday night and I will ask the DJ to play some Oasis songs. We live in Manchester so I bet there will be many rousing renditions!

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:46:31

It's an experience money almost can't buy.

How exciting!!!

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Sept-24 09:53:34

I would expect some will have been bought as corporate seating and they'll pay heavily for them. Many fans won't have the silly money for tickets

Kate1949 Mon 02-Sept-24 09:54:50

It cost me 50p to see The Beatles in 1964 grin

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:55:41

Money well spent, Kate smile

Kate1949 Mon 02-Sept-24 10:13:57

Agreed MissA

That's proper, legitimate tickets.

Some people were paying thousands of £s for tickets on suspect websites.
More money than sense

I can't remember how much it cost me to see The Beatles in 1963 as they were a supporting group anyway, Kate1949 😀

Allira Mon 02-Sept-24 10:58:42

I'm wondering if they'll pay a sneak visit to Rockfield Studios while they're in Wales?

HelterSkelter1 Mon 02-Sept-24 11:09:07

Kate1949. That would have been 10/- or ten bob. I saw them as well at Margate Winter Gardens and they just bounced out onto the stage. So much screaming you couldn't hear them. No idea what my ticket cost.

I hope it is televised at some stage. It will give all the cities a boost.

BigBopper Mon 02-Sept-24 11:09:37

Our son and daughter in law were lucky, they got in straight away and paid £100 each for the tickets. I remember queuing for tickets for the Beatles Concert in 1963 and paying 10 shillings and six pence. I queued for tickets for the Rolling Stones, Searchers, Cliff Richard, Adam Faith etc.etc. I think I saw every single pop star of the 60's live in concert. I also queued for their records when they were released. I queued for three hours to buy Buddy Holly's Think it Over record in 1958 when I was 15.

What a bargain! But when it comes to gigs, if you are a diehard fan of a particular band, then yes, you will pay what others may think is over the odds to get a ticket.

My sisters have loved Rod Stewart from the start of his career. They have seen him every time he came to Birmingham, the first tickets being £1. Last year was the first year they didn't go as the prices were outrageous. It's not that they can't afford it but they felt it was taking the Mick.
