Stickler for the rules

Dh has become quite rule focused .
In the past he was a judge for a certain hobby.
I understood that he would have to follow the rules to the letter.
He also enjoys most sport and was a rugby player in his younger days.

However since retiring he now has a hobby that takes up quite a bit of his time and in the main finds very enjoyable.

But in my opinion the rules are open to interpretation.
Unfortunately not in his opinion, and quite a lot of chuntering goes on.
I try to let it wash over me to keep my stress levels down.
His stress levels however are becoming more and more raised.

It is not just his hobby , but seems to have become hyper critical of 'rule' breakers in everyday life.

I have tried to point out that it is only raising his blood pressure and the other person is carrying on with their day to day life oblivious.

Is it age thing in men ?

why does it affect you if it is his hobby.
you are being critical of his attitude.
he is entitled to his attitude.
let him get on with it.

No just worried about his stress levels and his blood pressure

Exactly, let him get on with it. Most wives will be glad to be in your position. I mean, not being under their feet all day

Rules are for the guidance of wise people and the instruction of fools.

People who don't follow rules show you who they are.

It's easy to break golf rules - however, people know when one cheats.

Perhaps your husband is feeling a loss of control over his ageing, so he is sticking to "the rules" rigidly, so he knows he has them on his side when he is unsure about other things.

Yes he can be hyper critical of rule breakers when it comes to his hobby but I can see that applying it to every day life may be a problem, especially if it directed at you.
