Can anyone recommend a bath cleaner ?
I find cleaning the bath back breaking .

I've got a rechargeable scrubber.

A bit like this one, but very old. It's great for not having to bend down.

Thanks a ton Doodledog .
I did have a battery operated scrubber , but it is one of many things that has mysteriously disappeared from the house !
I'll check out your Google recommendation .

Esmay Tue 03-Sept-24 12:35:47

Tizliz - I have to laugh - I'd have more luck finding the formula for cold fusion !

She looks so delighted to have got a present of cleaning equipment from her loved one🥰. How thoughtful of him.

Mine would be extracting it from somewhere about his person wink

Hi Doodledog -
Didn't see the photo of the woman looking ecstatic in receiving a scrubber for Christmas !
Forget diamonds and pearls - all we want is a cleaning device .
I think that one Christmas my mother received a prong device for baking potatoes in the oven and went berserk !

Doodledog Tue 03-Sept-24 13:34:00

I'm sure that could have been used as a weapon, too grin

You don't need to go to Amazon- Easylife have a range of products to make life easier amd may well be cheaper.

I just wipe it down after having a bath, before I get out.

I've a wonderful bath cleaner. Quite attractive as well.

A plastic trigger spray bottle filled with vinegar.

My lovely husband sprays with vinegar and brushes down.

I recently started cleaning my bath with washing up liquid. And the sink. I don’t know why I’ve use stuff like Cif for years. A tiny amount, let it stand for a while and then rinse it off. No longer sit down in the bath and realise it’s a bit gritty because I haven’t rinsed the Cif off properly. I did see an extending brush for cleaning cars ( I always have to stand on a stool to clean the top ) that I think would work equally as well in the bathroom.

What’s the best thing to clean a bath? Nothing works so far……

00opsidia Tue 03-Sept-24 14:53:32

You could try steam cleaning it and a power scrubber sounds just the ticket! grin

I haven't got an electric scrubber, but I use a long handled brush like the washing up brushes.

AreWeThereYet Tue 03-Sept-24 16:01:52

I use washing up liquid and a round sponge on a long handle that I bought in Lakeland years ago. Wet the sponge, put a bit of washing up liquid on, sponge the bath and shower down.

Esmay Tue 03-Sept-24 18:33:58

I started with spray bleach -it didn't shift the scum after scrubbing .
Then , washing up liquid on a long handled brush , which is hard work .
It hasn't completely removed the scum .
I was wondering about a cleaning product that I could spray on , leave for a while and spray off .
My back hurts a great deal - that's why I'm looking for a cheaty method !

AreWeThereYet Tue 03-Sept-24 18:39:53

Have you tried Pink Stuff? Either the spray or the cream. If you've got a difficult stain to shift it might be easier to smear the cream on and leave it then wipe off.

I use 1/4 dish washing liquid. 1/4 water. 1/2 white vinegar. Pour into an empty fairy liquid bottle. Shake. Squirt round a damp bath and wipe well with a Spontex polyester type bathroom cloth. Rinse off really well. The vinegar gets rid of the scum and limescale and the fairy liquid gives it a good clean. No strong chemical smells. And doesnt scratch the surface.

Thank you everyone for all your tips .
I'm trying the vinegar mixed with washing up liquid method the moment .

I now realise you were asking about products, rather than gizmos grin

Barkeepers Friend is like magic dust. It's similar to Vim/Ajax but it doesn't scratch. My old cast-iron bath came up very well with a good sprinkle of that and a go with the scrubber. I have a very recently installed new one now, which hasn't needed industrial strength treatment. I'm told it needs diluted washing up liquid to keep it looking good, but time will tell.

Perhaps the mineral level in the water - we have to use vinegar. Washing up liquid would be my choice. Alas, vinegar is needed.

Mollygo Wed 04-Sept-24 11:25:30

Since our bath is hardly used nowadays, it mostly needs the dust removing. I use a sponge on a stick with washing up liquid, then just rinse it.
DGC who like it because it has a whirlpool feature wipe it down then rinse as a condition of using it.

Mt61 Wed 04-Sept-24 11:58:15

We have just got a new bath, don’t want scratches on it so use spray of vinegar, dash of clear dish soap & micro cloth & wipe, rinse & dry down. Think those vim, cif type products scratch the bath & then over time, dirt builds up & the bath starts to look grubby

Omg, we had a whirlpool bath, most disgusting thing I have come across ( husbands bachelor toy) I would fill the bath up with this expensive cleaner specifically for whirlpool baths, all this gunk would be floating around 😩couldn’t wait to tip it out
