Good morning all and it’s another dull start here in Essex. The days improve as they go on so I expect another warm one.

Dh will go fishing. He asked me to buy a tin of spam when I went shopping. £5.40 ! 😳. It’s only for the fish. He’ll stick with a tin of sweetcorn next time £1.

I’ll head up to town , starting with church and then meeting two ‘old’ pals for coffee/lunch. Apparently there’s a secret garden behind one of the pubs. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Who knew!

3 other dgd’s returning to school today. One is very worried as she has ‘the worst teacher in the school’. She’s only 10 - what a shame this lady has made this lovely, confident child so anxious ! 😡.

I hope you all have a peaceful day. 🌻🙏

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and sunny. Autumn is here already. Bellasnana ouch! I hope your lip is ok. Brook good for you returning to exercise.
Yesterday dgs2 was charming and infuriating at the same time. He has mastered asking for the toilet which is good. We gave a wee(pardon the pun) routine. Toilet, flush and wash hands. I was helping him to wash his hands when he said, "I bite you grandma," and he blooming did! It was rather sore to say the least. He did say sorry, although I'm not convinced he knows why. Hopefully he'll grow out of it soon as he bites his brother too. Dgs1 got more house points and a little bag of sweets for tidying up the home corner in his class without being asked. He's very pleased with himself. Lots of playing with stickle bricks yesterday.
Today is my doing nothing day. A little tidying in the kitchen is required. I might head to town for a couple of birthday presents. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Very enjoyable day yesterday going round a small exhibition of local arts, crafts and much more followed by a whole food lunch. The sun shone and it was a happy time with old friends.
Today I have DF coming for tea and chat, unfortunately a large basket of washing is looking at me.
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from a dull but dry north yorkshire. A disappointing start to the day as woke up late and not feeling well with a teimperature and generally rough. I had got everything ready yesterday to go to Muker show today, picnic stuff etc and now reluctantly decided not to go. It was the show I went to the most, and looked forward to meeting many friends there and watching the fell race etc. So will just take things easy and hope to improve as the day goes on. Hope you feel better soon Mick and that the day goes well for everyone

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is dry but autumnal.
I had very little sleep so after reading the thread, I'll drink my tea and try to have another hour.

I'm planning to go to the opening of a friend's wood fired kiln today. It took 56 hours to fire and has been cooling down for over a week. He fires it twice a year only. His pottery is so beautiful 😍

I drove my French helper to the airport last night after folk club -where we all sang! He sang in French, reluctantly. The girl from NZ sang a Maori song and I joined in.

Sorry you're not so good Mick.
Wishing those off to school a good first term.

My DGD aged 9, came home with an accordian- her chosen instrument. DD spared me the video. She said she'd leave it to my imagination. 🤣

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
The boys are back to school today, and I'm helping at playgroup.
Will carry on shredding old paperwork later I do find that very therapeutic.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Sept-24 07:18:21

Morning everyone from an overcast S E Essex, we have The Imp today (he and his cousin do not start school until 23/09, they have two practice days first)

I hope to get to the gym, DH can occupy GS.

No men in today as plaster is drying.

Have a good day everyone, especially our dear friends in enforced purdah

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and gloomy, hopefully it’ll brighten up later
I’m going to gradually start some gym classes up again, it’ll not be the same as it was before, but I’ve enjoyed the summer months off and I need to start something up again now. So today it’s aqua aerobics at the leisure centre, I’m going with my pal who’s been before so that’ll be a big help.
Blossoming I agree autumn colours are beautiful 🍁
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Bellasnana Wed 04-Sept-24 07:17:39

Good morning from Malta where it is already 27°C and expected to ‘feel like’ 38°C later. High humidity again makes it so sticky.

I also had a day of cleaning my place yesterday then fell asleep on the sofa after my ridiculously early start to the day.

A surprise visit from DD3 and the boys meant my clean floors were no more but I was so happy to see them.
They enjoyed water play in my back yard, just a big laundry basket full of water with an assortment of bottles, cups, funnels etc kept them amused for ages.

Unfortunately, littlest bashed his head hard under my chin casing my tooth to go through my lip. (His head was fine 😄). It is still very painful and difficult to eat or drink.

I have a dental appointment this morning so will ask hm to take a look at my tooth as it took quite a whack.

DD1 is taking her little dog to the vet today to have some warts removed as he keeps biting them and making them bleed. I’m worried about him having a general anaesthetic as he’s an old dog. Fingers crossed all will be well.

My friend from Leicester arrives tomorrow. Her room is ready but I need to buy some food. She eats a lot more than I do and I don’t want her to go hungry.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from a cloudy Cambs. Today the 10 & 5 year old GC are arriving at 9 am as DD2 has a hair cut and colour appointment some distance away. We are going to do lego, and maybe some crafting or board games just see what they feel like.
Yesterday we went to the local garden centre which was very quiet as we were greeted with no functioning toilets today so maybe the reason! However we had a bacon roll and a browse and I bought two pots in the sale and two Skimmia plants. I’m still struggling to shake this viral thing off and unfortunately ended up hitting the sofa for the rest of the day most frustrating as I wanted to get out on the garden.
Wishing everyone a happy healthy day

Good morning all from a promising looking day in North Leicestershire.

DH is off to the gym, our cleaner is dye. I shall iron and then I'm collecting DS1 and going for lunch at a newly refurbished pub for lunch.

We had a super time last night when a few neighbours came for drinks and a catch up.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy mid Essex. We may have showers later, or may not, but I need to get a wash going and will put it outside and keep my fingers crossed that it dries.
Will go to the garden centre, then the farm shop this morning, then will potter in the garden.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a dull looking Torbay.

I echo the advice from others, Mick, about seeking medical advice. It’s a pity as you only said recently how well you’ve been keeping.

My DGS2 also starts in Y10 today, Mizuna although his school began some teaching of their GCSE syllabuses towards the end of the last school year. His sister loved her first day at her high school yesterday, which I’m pleased to hear. When she went for the transition day in July, they'd missed her name off the tutor group lists! Luckily, she was very phlegmatic about being placed in one without her friends. It seemed to have been caused by there being another girl who had nearly the same name, with only one letter different!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather grey but dry South Yorkshire. Had a trip to the garden centre yesterday where very few were buying plants but the cafeteria was full to bursting. I then went on to walk round one of our largest and loveliest parks. The cafe has just opened after undergoing a major rebuild so I treated myself to some good coffee and a bacon sandwich (don’t tell DD about the bacon sandwich!). Today writers group at the library.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is dry at the moment, some rain in the forecast this morning.

Finally got through matters domestic yesterday. A friend phoned to suggest we postponed todays trip out then a couple of calls from our goddaughter. Got there in the end and drifted out to collect a change of curtains for our living room. Should work - I hope. We’d planned to be out and about today, see if the weather agrees. If nothing else will head out for lunch.

Perhaps worth a call to your nursing team if easier than the GP mick, better safe than sorry.

Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Good morning from calm cloudy Lancashire. The cloud is breaking up now and the air feels drier. Yesterday it drizzled most of the day. I love Autumn, the light is so soft and glowing. The greens of summer are beautiful but the warm russet tones of autumn are spectacular.

Hav3 is wonderful Wednesday 🍁

Mizuna Wed 04-Sept-24 06:23:10

Good morning from my patio in Cornwall where it's still fairly dark. The gulls are in black profile as they fly over whereas normally the brightening sky reflects on their undersides. A sunny day ahead.

Moved loads of furniture yesterday in order to make it simpler to access my drawers of fabric. Today my eight-year-old granddaughter is here all day; she has a painting of the sea and rocks with barnacles to finish from last week. Also she's coming laden with blackberries to make a crumble. Back to school tomorrow. My eldest grandson resumes school today and is starting his chosen options which will lead him towards becoming an animator, where his strengths lie.

Might be worth having a word with your doctor, Mick?

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 04-Sept-24 06:02:23

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

OH has more honey to extract today so the kitchen will be sticky a bit longer. Our cleaner is coming this morning and can work on the rest of the house.

I have signed up to listen on zoom to a talk by Craig Brown from the V&A. He has written a book about the late Queen, which I have ordered. If it’s as good as the one he wrote about Princess Margaret, it should be good.

Have a good day everyone. I hope you’ve been in touch with your GP Mick.

karmalady Wed 04-Sept-24 05:54:58

Good morning from s somerset, dull start plus, potentially, heavy rain showers

A busy day yesterday, starting with a dentist appointment and then a cuppa with dd and teenage dgc with a fair bit of driving for me yesterday.

I have two piles of linen fabric on my utility floor, had been hoping to get them washed and dried today, I will abandon that thought

I can see a nice rest day ahead, I have hand sewing to do and there are always domestic jobs.

Have a good day

grandMattie Wed 04-Sept-24 05:47:00

Good morning from a dry, still dark Bristol.
I’ve just put a load of washing out; I’m banking on the 20% rain forecast not rewetting it when I hang it out. It’s still too early (and warm enough) to dry indoors.
I had a quiet day yesterday, and managed to do quite a lot of my patchwork. I also was terribly housewife-y, dusting and then washing and vacuuming floors!
I sat out in the communal garden in the sun for an hour or son the afternoon.
Bits and bobs today.
I hope you all have a good day. Carpe diem.
