Good morning from mid-Lancs: humid and sunny and blowing a gale!
Cock-eyed weather, but what's new?
Which British song sums up the 1960s for you?

Good morning from mid-Lancs: humid and sunny and blowing a gale!
Cock-eyed weather, but what's new?
Good morning all from a cloudy, grey North Leicestershire.
Waitrose, butcher's and egg farm today. And fish and chips for tea.
Good morning from a very wet hillside in south Glos where we’ve just had an almighty crack of thunder!
I’m lazing in bed with a coffee because I slept badly and I have no need to get up early 😊
Yesterday I walked the dog, tidied and cleaned the house, unpacked an Ocado shop and sorted out a big bag of yarn for a friend all by 11am, not bad going!
It poured down pretty much all day so I finished knitting a pair of socks and carried on with the crochet blanket, it’s taking an hour to do each round. I have five more rounds then four more for the border. I hope to finish it in a few days.
Today I need to get the materials together for an online zoom class tomorrow morning and afternoon. I haven’t done any painting for months, so should be fun.
The thunderstorm is rolling around over us now, dog isn’t happy poor thing.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where is 15°C.
I have woken with yet another bad headache, it never shifted yesterday.
Today, the P.P leaves at lunchtime for a new parish. I feel quite unsettled by it all.
Yesterday, I unexpectedly ended up house sitting in the parish house , while he went round the schools saying his goodbyes.
The electrician was in PAT testing all of the church premises, he must have thought I was a mad old woman, when I ran after him insisted he return and test vacuum cleaners, irons, extensions etc.
The young curate had no idea about these things ( I was involved in PAT testing in school), and had told him to go. The curate hadn't a clue, where everything was and what should be tested.
The electrician, assumed the ladies, who were cleaning the church, were contractors. They are in their eighties and wouldn't stop cleaning to allow him to test their vacuum cleaners. 😂
Afterwards, I went to pick up my prescriptions and asked if my xray result was back.
It is back and it is outside, normal parameters, but no further action. the receptionist said.
What happened to the GP contacting me about my respiratory referral, on the advice of the cardiologist.I asked. I have been coughing non stop for eighteen months.,
She looked at me and immediately offered me a telephone consultation.
Ash, my blurry eyes read your post as meeting an old timer.^
Have a great day, both of you!
Enjoy your Friday folks.
Well, a proper ‘good morning everyone’ from me! I’m back thanks to the application and diligence of Lily from GNHQ in sorting out my very frustrating technical difficulties after my 2 week suspension. It’s SO good to be back with you all and to be honest, I prefer my new name. What’s that saying “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”. Well that was me.
Anyhoo … Alexa tells me it’s currently 16°C here in sunny south Manchester, rising to the heady heights of 26°C later! Lovely. Similar temperatures to Ibiza (where we are heading off to on Tuesday after our Golden Wedding anniversary party tomorrow - lucky us indeed).
I’ve got a pedicure booked for noon today and Himself plans to stroll to the MacMillan centre whilst I’m at the salon, enjoy a coffee and a chat with the very supportive group.
Here’s a photo to share. It’s of Himself and the Boy Wonder, playing a game of pool together in the gardens at our happy place last week. A nice memory.
As you can all see I’m just as garrulous as ever! Rivalling Marydoll in the novella stakes. I must try harder to be ‘succinct’ … 😊
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° with low cloud. I'm assured it will break to reveal sunshine. Ash and Mizuna, enjoy your catch up. Cornergran my sympathies. I hope you can fit in a nap somewhere.
Yesterday I rested quite a bit and had an early night. I certainly slept better last night.
Today I'll pick up my prescription and then get dgs2 from playgroup. Dd is meeting a friend for coffee. He'll stay with me for an hour or so. I'll get a washing done too and hopefully hung out. Cheese omelette and chips for dinner. Have a good day all
Good to see FGT and UTBB posting on Soop
Good morning everyone from a mild but very grey mid Essex.
The forecast showers/heavy rain bypassed us yesterday but it was grey and gloomy all day,
Had some disconcerting messages from a “friend” who was pressuring me to click on a link to a site. I assumed her Facebook account had been hacked and didn’t click on the link. Eventually the messages ceased. I felt quite shaky when the messages stopped.
Bingo at lunchtime today, a few games of bingo and lunch in our village hall. It will be good to meet up with several friends, even if the chairs in the hall are very uncomfortable and make my back ache!
Also need to finish the pile of ironing.
ash and mizuna enjoy your meet up! I hope that friedgreentomatoes is now able to post on Gransnet.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a damp W Kent. My return to art group yesterday went well and it was good to catch up on all the news, not a great deal of painting done. Today off to the hairdressers and then over to DD2 and a chance to see two of the DGC who are now taller than me.
Enjoy your meet up Mizuna and Ash
Best wishes
Good morning my friends it’s another cracking sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife where it’s meant to be quite warm.
My hairdresser came yesterday and I had a little trim ready for my holiday to Sicily tomorrow, my friend and neighbour from old came for lunch, we had home made macaroni and cheese ( ( I’m really good at making a roux) and a delicious salad with garlic bread we had a great catch up.
I’ll really need to rest up today for my early flight.
Have a good day all I’ll probably have some time out from this forum, I’ll post a photo after I return back home.
Morning Mick, morning All from a wet corner of Somerset.
Rained all day yesterday, more of the same forecast for today. A night with little sleep has left me weary. A full day ahead,, volunteering this morning and at TaiChi this afternoon before a Waitrose trip. Hope I don’t yawn too much.
Have a good time ash and mizuna, hope the rain stays away and Friday is kind to us all.
Good morning from cloudy Lancashire.the nights are turning colder here and I’m grateful for a lovely warm (but not too heavy) duvet. I was glad to see Urms and Granny Gravy had both visited Soop’s Kitchen yesterday and that GNHQ had offered apologies and sorted the problem.
Happy Friday 🌻
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy but doesn’t feel too cold
Enjoy your meet up Ash and Mizuna, have a lovely time!
We’ve got DGD here so it’s the school run first thing then I’ve another volunteering session at the hospital. Later I’m off to DD2s as she’s a bit of time off work today.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from the Black country, I think we are in for a dry day so I may get some gardening done.
Need to do a trip to Aldi for a few things.
Ash & Mizuna enjoy your meetup.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from Malta where it is very hot and humid although the promised thunderstorm did not materialise. I hope it isn’t going to ruin our village festa which is in full swing at present with the actual feast day being on Sunday.
Our village celebrates the birth of the Virgin Mary and is known locally as Marija Bambina. The statue of our lady will be paraded through the streets with a band playing and a lot of noisy fireworks.
Had a busy day yesterday as my friend arrived, we went to Lidl and in the afternoon DD’s 1 and 3 arrived with the boys and Bertie the dog so chaos reigned until around 7pm when they left.
We both had an early night!
I have my weekly hair appointment this morning and we are babysitting the boys this afternoon. Tennis semi finals to watch tonight if I can keep awake.
Have a lovely time together Ash and Mizuna, how nice to be able to meet up.
Urms wherever you are, I think of you often and really miss your posts. I hope you will come back soon.🙏🏻
Have a good day all.☀️
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Thick fog at the moment.
Yesterday the U3A walk in the Border Hills was beautiful and it didn't rain.
I had an rsv vaccine in the afternoon.
It's my shift in the community store this morning.
How efficient to have your new pc set up by your friend gMattie
Enjoy your mini meetup Ash and Mizuna. I enjoyed ours last week when Stilllearning made the trip to my town.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning from Camb where is looks like it will be warm and sunny today. The 10 & 5 year old are arriving at 8 am whilst mummy goes home to bed having worked the night shift. Hoping to get out for a walk with them this morning
Yesterdays return to Pilates class was enjoyable good to be back to the regular Thursday morning termtime class.
DH has cut through the telephone wire whilst pruning a bush at the front so a visit expected to repair this today. Lawn bowls this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone
Morning all from a very damp West Oxfordshire. I was woken at 6 am by the sound of torrential rain.
Once a month my WI has a coffee morning in the local coffee shop, but every three months we have a ‘travelling’ coffee morning. Today is that day and I’m driving three ladies to a Farm shop/Pick your own for coffee and cakes.
OH is having a day off from his bees but he still needs to sort out the honey.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s foggy and damp.
This is our regular childcare day in Edinburgh so I’ll have to get a move on as we leave early.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning from s somerset, more of the same today, very wet all day and grey sky
I had to be busy all day yesterday and I was, a frustrating difficult sew but worth it. It did take my mind off being in the house all day, upstairs is warmer and my sewing room is bright, and cheerful. More of the same today
I am going to bring my rebounder in from the garage as soon as possible, it is a fine thing to use when it rains all day. It is big and it fills my hall space but who cares
Today, I will be keeping on top of the routine jobs such as vacuuming, I need milk so may slink off to town wearing my ancient raincoat bought when I lived in kendal, it covers me from head to ankle and is bone dry and over 50 years old, with plenty of room inside. It only gets worn now and then and now is the time
Have a good day
Good morning from Cornwall but as I'm heading for Torquay today I'm more interested in the weather forecast there. See you later Ash, can't wait! 😁
Thank you, grandMattie! 🥰
Have a good time with the GMmer Ash. Hugs to you both.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but set to be a better day than yesterday when it was wet on and off. I did go out with the walking group and more people than expected turned out. Had lunch and a long chat with DD and then called in to see my niece and her little DGD. Today I must do some laundry, have a tidy round and cut the front lawn. And buy some eye drops as my eyes are itchy and sticky for some reason.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from a dry Bristol atm We had a lot of rain most of the day, heavier or lighter at times…. We are promised a great deal again today.
The excitement of the day was in the afternoon. My pc was getting glacially slow and elderly (aren’t we all?) and required replacement. What amazing improvements in over a decade! No tower, no speakers, no camera, so much less “spaghetti”.
My Kent pc man* arrived mid afternoon to do the job. We had already remotely transferred most of the stuff I wanted to keep and it was just a case of physically replacing one with the other.
*He and his wife have a holiday house in Abergavenny, so I cheekily suggested that he could come over. Bless him, they did on their way for a fortnight’s holiday.
I have an empty today; shall sew and bake something - I’m serving coffee in church tomorrow.
Have a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
