My heart went out to Camilla

We’ve all suffered, haven’t we, the impromptu photo catching us at our worst ? I happily delete them meaning that there are fewer pics of me than of anybody else in the family!
However, heads should roll over this - the Queen’s rather orange makeup doesn’t seem to reach the sides of her face, or down her neck, her eyebrows are seriously overdone and the wrinkles which generally accompany our late 70’s alas all to clear in this close up.
The late Queen had wonderful skin throughout her life, but didn’t smoke and drank very little alcohol. Perhaps she also had a better make up

After seeing that image of Camilla you have to ask yourself why he chose her over the beautiful Diana.

Well, by that token why on earth did DH choose me?

Looks aren't everything and anyway, Camilla was an attractive young woman and that photo is about the least flattering I've seen of her.
We've all suffered those but no so publicly.

Are you a man, Spencer2009?

Not a fan of Camilla but mean spirited to publish a photo like that.

Such a shame they didn't marry all those years ago and had a family. How happy he would have been.

I wonder how often they think "if only". Diana would no doubt have married and had lots of children which she seemed to have wanted and would probably still be alive. And maybe a pleasant looking stay at home mum.
And of course no Harry, William, Kate snd co.
A Sliding Doors moment.

He loved her before he met Diana and it’s a shame he wasn’t free to choose his own path. Camilla is intelligent and a real woman, not a PR construct.

I agree CC.. she is also very amusing, charming, intelligent and a country woman.. the perfect choice for Charles.. non-negotiable as he said..

There are lots of digital images of Diana as an older woman based on her earlier photos.
A quick Google brings up plenty:

Some are more glamorous than others of course!

NotSpaghetti Mon 09-Sept-24 15:32:24

Obviously, in lots of these she is considerably younger than Camilla.

An unfortunate photo , but I think that on a windy day it might be a good idea to have an ‘up do’ hairstyle of some sort - like Kate often does .

Are you a man Spencer2009?

I wondered if he/she was a member of Diana’s family?

If she can cope with details of her adultery and transcripts of weird phone calls with the then Prince of Wales being printed and discussed in the media I imagine this will be water off a duck’s back

Well said!

I don'y think it was 'cruel' to publish this photo it was, as it would have been with anyone else on a windy day, showing a windswept hairdo. What I think awful are the wrinkles! Are they the result of her smoking? Surely not just her age - I am 89 and am nowhere near as wrinkled as that.

MissAdventure Mon 09-Sept-24 18:15:44

I think we are gradually becoming accustomed to faces that have had "work" done on them.
To see an older woman looking her actual age is becoming unusual.

netflixfan Mon 09-Sept-24 18:33:25

Windy day. That’s all.

Babs03 Mon 09-Sept-24 19:05:43

Camilla wouldn't bat an eye at this photo. She strikes me as a no nonsense indivdual who has weathered enough storms to realise that this doesn't even qualify as an issue.
She always looks smart but I bet she can't wait to get into more comfortable clothes as soon as the public gaze has moved on.

I don't agree with anything you say, I do not think it is makeup I think she is suntanned and the white patches is where her hair usually covers her skin, Her eyebrows are hers and not necessarily died nor tinted, she does not have OTT wrinkles certainly less than I have and I think she looks great. It is a fun photo of her and she will have a good laugh for sure.

That comment is gross

Even Diana would have aged. She would now be almost 30 years older than when she died, a 63 year old grandmother of 5. Also she and Charles had nothing in common and he just didn't love her the way he loved Camilla.

I'm not defending their behaviour, but bewilderment as to how he could prefer Camilla to Diana always sound a bit shallow.

People love who they love.
Looks have very little to do with it, thankfully, or some us would never have been loved.

so very true smile

I actually think she looks a lot better in this photo than her usual rather stiff, hard appearance. I do not think she is very nice at all. And my son who has worked close to the Royals says Charles is a gentleman but Camilla is rude and dismissive.

Anniebach Mon 09-Sept-24 21:07:32

I found Camilla to be kind and very friendly

Mollygo Mon 09-Sept-24 23:11:22

My DGD said Camilla was lovely. Interested and knowledgeable about what my DGD had achieved.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Sept-24 00:10:27

The guide at some palace or other (I'm no royalist) said that Camilla is lovely, does a lot of charitable things quietly, and insists on doing them herself, rather than being just a name on some headed paper.
