We’ve all suffered, haven’t we, the impromptu photo catching us at our worst ? I happily delete them meaning that there are fewer pics of me than of anybody else in the family!
However, heads should roll over this - the Queen’s rather orange makeup doesn’t seem to reach the sides of her face, or down her neck, her eyebrows are seriously overdone and the wrinkles which generally accompany our late 70’s alas all to clear in this close up.
The late Queen had wonderful skin throughout her life, but didn’t smoke and drank very little alcohol. Perhaps she also had a better make up

leave her alone..

I’m not criticising her- back off!

I'm with you Maw. I think she is one of the best things to happen to the Royals but someone should be keeping an eye on her image.

I too felt sorry that our ‘wonderful’ press took advantage of this unfortunate snap.

Being the resilient lady that she is I hope she’ll just laugh at it and move on.

I like Camilla, I think she will see that photograph and laugh. She has a good sense of humour, I could be wrong but I don't think she will spend too long thinking about it.

henetha Sat 07-Sept-24 11:44:40

A rather unfortunate photograph of a strong lady whom I now like quite a lot. She just gets on with it, doesn't she.
I hate photos of myself, so I do sympathise with this unflattering one.

King Charles is no oil painting but nobody criticises him for his looks or what he wears. Such comments are reserved for female members of the royal family and "celebrities' who seemingly can't do right for doing wrong, to the extent that some of these women lose self confidence and develop mental health issues. Most of the critics are women. So much for the "sisterhood".

HelterSkelter1 Sat 07-Sept-24 11:58:27

I too like her a great deal. And we all have photos which do us no favours and usually we can delete them.
I expected it to be the Daily Mail. But see it's the DT. Both spiteful papers so I am not surprised. I doubt if she will care too much. We are wrinkly in our late 70s unless we have had surgery. I expect she would be criticised if she had and her face was tight as a drum. I expect she knows she cannot win whatever she does as far as the "wonderful" press is concerned.

Oh! I rather like that photo of Camilla. I think she looks great. Like a real person.

Since anniversary of Diana’s death social media has been vicious, and many not seen before photographs of Diana’s childhood on line every day.

silverlining48 Sat 07-Sept-24 12:17:17

At least she has a lovely head of hair, which is the expression my gran used to use.
Not a particular fan of Camilla probably for historic reasons but it seems they are happy, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
It’s just a picture in the wind. It happens to all of us.

Sueki44 Sat 07-Sept-24 12:22:57

Saw this photo on the front of the paper this morning and commented to my husband that I thought it was pretty mean and unnecessary!

Indigo8 Sat 07-Sept-24 12:23:35

I actually think her hair looks wonderful (shades of Manga).

I remember seeing some photos of Princess Diana in a women's mag somebody left on a seat in a train. This was not long before she was killed. They showed her leaving a gym in lycra shorts and with no makeup on. One of the photos purported to show that PD had cellulite (shock horror) on the back of her legs. The accompanying copy was written by a woman. As Granny23 says "so much for the sisterhood".

Why is it nearly always women who come in for this kind of flack?

crazyH Sat 07-Sept-24 12:26:03

Camilla will have a right old laugh about this photo. She is not vain .

GrannyGravy13 Sat 07-Sept-24 12:40:41

I like Camilla, always have, now she is Queen and doing a sterling job.

I think we all have horror shots in our family albums (on our phones now 🤣) I have.

They are usually when I am having a brilliant time, and make me laugh.

I hope the Queen can laugh at this 🤞

King Charles is no oil painting

No, but age has worked well for him.

In his youth he looked gawky, fiddled with his cuffs (still does but suits him now), blushed easily and looked and sounded like a fifty year old when still a teenager.

Now he looks what he is. Mature, intelligent, empathetic, completely at ease with himself and his role.

Due in no small part to his wife’s influence and love.

At a recent family wedding in Totnes we had to wait for the vintage bus to take us to the reception. Someone noticed a pasty shop...... Needless to say when the photographer was catching natural shots, there I am in the background taking a huge bite from a sausage roll! As other GN's have said, we all have these pictures somewhere.

kittylester Sat 07-Sept-24 12:52:08

But not on the front page of any newspaper.

Bridie22 Sat 07-Sept-24 12:55:09

It was really cold and grey here up north yesterday ( still is) when I saw her on the news my first thought was...you should have a coat on love !!

Purplepixie Sat 07-Sept-24 12:59:52

Sorry but I do not like Camilla one bit.

Kate1949 Sat 07-Sept-24 13:06:49

I'm intrigued to know how some of you know that she has a great sense of humour, will laugh at this and is not vain.

Dottydots Sat 07-Sept-24 13:08:25

Ha ha. I came back from an awful four day break last night and have just been deleting photos my son took of me. Only left with two. I'm 82 and a bit vain.
