Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside at the moment here in brackley , no doubt another cold chilly day awaits .
I will do my usual routine with the bus to Bicester hopefully see some I know.
Return for lunch and then maybe a afternoon kip.
Take Care,

Good mornin' all!

It's 8.9C. here, a lovely cold feeling!

After falling down the stairs on the 10th, the facial bruising/swelling is now going coal black and I managed to get some kip last night!

It's 9:11am and am a carer in a home for the adult disabled, here at my desk with a huge mug of PG Tips, have got a long day ahead!

Have a great day all of you!

Good morning from a dull looking Glasgow.
I had a lovely time with the Glescagrannies yesterday who made me so welcome. Sorry if I talked tooooo much….a very bad habit! 😬
I went home to find my son had already arrived for his wee overnight with us …..lots more chat 🥰. He’s off again in the next hour but it was great to catch up.
We’re going to have a wee day out today ….probably head through to the east coast. I have line dancing tonight so another busy enjoyable day.
Enjoy ur day.

Good morning all. I don't know whether it's comforting or sad that everyone is experiencing this cold spell! 6° here and forecast to reach the giddy heights of 13° later - but I read that we should be back to the 'seasonal normal' by the weekend. We'll see.
Glad to hear everyone's outings were fun yesterday, including the Glesga grannies. I would love to join, but my hearing precludes it. I was struggling with our little foursome yesterday - they're so patient with me, even when they have to keep repeating for me. I thought I had totally misheard the subject of one of the threads of chat as to my ear they seemed to be talking about funerals and crematoriums - they were!! Rather premature but maybe appropriate as we were celebrating the birthdays of two of us - 77 and 83! The 83 is me - how can that be. Sometimes I feel it these days, and my mirror can be very unkind at times ..... Actually my birthday isn't until the 29th so until then I'm a sprightly 82 😉.
I must dash off now and get ready for tai chi - it will be an 'interesting' class as I'm going through a very little sleep phase at the moment. Have a good day all 🍁🍂🥶💤

Good morning from cool South Lanarkshire.

It was another enjoyable afternoon with the Glasgow Grans yesterday, including two who were there for the first time.

I managed to crochet another few trefoils last night but won’t make it to the yarn group tonight as it’s our parish meeting and I like to keep up with whatever is happening.

Daft dug has an appointment with the groomer today and I must pop into the dentist to change an upcoming appointment.

Wishing for a better day for all those under par for whatever reason and happy holidays to those lucky enough to be in the sun.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, but having just put the food waste bin out, it feels very chilly. At least no rain forecast. We had torrential showers all yesterday afternoon.

Couldn't get going with the tasks I had set myself yesterday, and it was after lunch that I actually got down to them.
The biggest one was to do something with the apples I had.harvested from my espalier, So spent most of the afternoon peeling and slicing, then gently stewing them. I now have a large casserole dish of cooked apples, which taste delicious! Shall have some with my porridge today and tomorrow and will freeze the rest.
I also managed to defrost the kitchen freezer which meant putting everything from that one into the garage freezer, and then refilling a few hours later.

Hairdresser this morning, so will need to bus to the village, and a Sainsbury's delivery mid afternoon.
Bolognese and tagliatelle for dinner tonight.

GM, my independent optician calls me annually for an NHS eye test. I have read that if you have developing cataracts you are due a check up every year.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but very chilly Carlisle. The upstairs heating circuit came on this morning, the first time this season. It's set quite a bit lower than downstairs as I dislike a warm bedroom.
It was a quiet day indoors yesterday, trying to keep down my recurring infection. Exasperated, I put in an e-consult to the surgery, now I have an appointment with the doc at a Well Woman clinic. I'm not optimistic, I guess it's one of those things you have to live with but if that's all I have to live with...well, I'm lucky.

Today I'm popping into town for oddments. Really, I just want to get out and enjoy the sun even if it's cold. After that, a catch up with my magazines and I should check out my food cupboards for out of date items.

grandMattie, there seems to be a consensus here--3 years is ridiculous, only appropriate for a young, fit person. Older folk can be developing a variety of serious conditions as I'm sure you know.

Have a good day everyone.

Susan56 Thu 12-Sept-24 08:19:07

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but showers forecast.

Yesterday I put my autumn decorations and cushions out while DH dealt with the bag of apples our neighbour gave us.He made a beautiful pie and lots of stewed apples for the freezer.

Today I will sort out cards and gifts for the eight family birthdays coming up🤦🏼‍♀️DH isn’t feeling great after the second shingles jab so will have a quiet day.

I wish I lived nearer to attend the Glasgow meet up!

I have yearly eye appointments due to eye issues, DH has two yearly appointments.Three years is too long grandMattie.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

GrannySomerset Thu 12-Sept-24 08:00:17

Seriously chilly this morning but sunny so maybe a bit of garden pottering when it warms up a little. Glad the Glasgow meet up went well and envious thoughts to all those enjoying a sunny getaway.

Liberty Thu 12-Sept-24 07:57:18

Good morning from a lovely sunny Suffolk but I suspect it is chilly outside.

I enjoyed coffee and a delicious cheese scone with 4 friends from my class yesterday in the Adnams cafe which was heaving. I’ve never seen it so busy and I think most were holiday makers of a ‘certain age’. Once the school holidays are over,Southwold is suddenly like a child free zone.

I have my stretch class soon and then I’m off to Norwich for lunch with a friend who is a work colleague of years ago, so very much looking forward to seeing her as we usually only meet up every 3 months or so.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Greyduster Thu 12-Sept-24 07:46:20

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a blue sky but very nippy South Yorkshire - currently 7 degrees. A good session at our writers group yesterday. We all had something new to put forward. I went into Next on the way home and ordered a new jacket I’ve had my eye on. They didn’t have my size in the store so let’s hope it fits! I’ll pick it up tomorrow.
Walking group this morning and then to DD’s for lunch and to inspect their swish new window blinds.
Have the best day you can folks.

harrigran Thu 12-Sept-24 07:45:17

Good morning from a cool but sunny NE.
SIL took me shopping yesterday and then we did bits and bobs on the computers.
Dinner was steak with courgette Provencal, green beans and potatoes. We talked about the proms and the ones they had been to and how much they had enjoyed them.
We were looking at upcoming concerts and saw that Einaudi is doing a tour, GD2 plays his compositions and would love to attend. We shall see if it is possible, it would involve a trip to London during term time.
Sister and BIL are going to visit this afternoon, she is not well. The vitamin B12 injections are not doing their job quite yet, it does take a while to feel the benefit.
Have a good day.

brook2704 Thu 12-Sept-24 07:45:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and feels cold
Hope your shoulder and back feels a bit better soon rosesandlilac, that’s a long time to wait for an appointment if it’s so painful
I really enjoyed the meet up in Glasgow yesterday, such a lovely group of ladies. Thanks marydoll for organising it and I’m looking forward to the next one
I’ve got a volunteering session today and then later this evening we’re sitting in with the DGC until DD2 get home after a late appointment.
Enjoy your holidays and the warm sunshine Georgesgran
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings. 💐

cornergran Thu 12-Sept-24 07:42:43

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cool corner of Somerset. Still windy and rain forecast later.

Enjoyed yesterday, a good catch up, nice lunch and interesting space to wander out of the very cold wind. Found it tiring but not sure why.

Quiet one ahead, a call to a friend, some ironing and that’s about it.

Enjoy what you can of the day everyone, hope Thursday is kind to us all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 12-Sept-24 07:41:28

Good morning everyone from (already) hot and sunny Es Caña. I’m on my second mug of tea. We slept like logs last night 11pm till gone 7am. The restorative powers of a good sleep can’t be over estimated can they?

Another day of ‘being doing nothing’ ahead, apart from choosing where to eat.

We were last here two years ago to celebrate the 70th birthday of Himself. The big change now is that the little road through to the Jacaranda bar & ferry has now been fully pedestrianised. I’m not sure whether I like it this way or not. A lady I’ve come to know over the years here said yesterday ‘it needs some plants and greenery’. I agree.

Marydoll Thu 12-Sept-24 07:39:11

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is only 5°C. Brrrrrr!

GM, I am invited for annual eye checks.

Thank you to all the delightful, Glasgow Grans for a great afternoon! The biggest laugh was when the group of ladies at the next table asked how long we had known each other, they had been friends for over sixty years. Our two new members said, an hour!. 😂
We did miss our absent friends, there were only eight of us. We can have about seventeen at some meet ups. It was probably for the best, the Café Bar was very busy, poor Baubles was valiantly trying to protect the empty seats.
Pants, I will try and post some photos later on the Glesca Grannies thread.

I did have a bit of a hiccup en route. I bumped into a neighbour at the station, who was going to a space exhibition at the SSCC.
In a ploy to avoid the hill and stairs at the Concert Hall, I had decided to catch a second train on the Low Level, to Charing Cross, which would mean seeing a bit of Glasgow I had not seen in years.
The second train was sitting on the platform and my neighbour and I jumped on, only to bump into the friends he was meeting,. There was much hilarity, when I said I was his new girlfriend. 😉
It got to their stop and I realised I was on the wrong train!!😂
Ending up at Patrick, (my old university stomping ground) , not in the least put out, I jumped on the Subway!
I couldn't stop laughing to myself!!

We have BabyD today, so I must dash. I have stocked up the fridge and empied my conservatory of any breakable objects!

Have a good day folks.

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Sept-24 07:37:16

Morning from sunny Worthing, 6 according to my phone. Busy day yesterday, we walked the pier, to the local museum and art gallery, an exhibition by Alison Lapper. Then on to a Catholic Church with a Sistine chapel ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. Littlehampton for an estuary walk, then a chalk gardens, coffee and cake.
We’re off home today after an excellent break.
Good you’re feeling better gBatty 🙂

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s cold and sunny.

I did bed changing, washing and housework yesterday. I also went outside to do some dead heading and ended up pulling some plants up as well that had self seeded themselves, teasels and evening primrose. It was lovely to have a sit in the sunshine and watch the bees and butterflies. I’ve not seen too many of them this year. There was quite a nip in the air when I locked up.

Today is more bed changing and collecting my prescription.

Have a good day all 🌻

kittylester Thu 12-Sept-24 07:31:43

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire. The heating has come on!

Not much happening today until we get a Sainsbury's delivery at teatime. A good job as I was helping on a zoomed Carer's course until 8.30 last night. We intend to do the safeguarding debrief today!

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Thu 12-Sept-24 07:22:37

Good morning from a sunny W Kent, 7 degrees. Yesterday’s shopping trip went well with five birthdays now sorted out and wrapped. Pleased to have had a phone call from one of my Welsh cousins it is many years since we have been able to meet
Art group this morning and hopefully a quiet afternoon, my back is playing up and I could do with resting it
Best wishes all round

Redcar Thu 12-Sept-24 07:10:18

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s 4 degrees according to the garden thermometer! It’s sunny at the moment but probably showers later.
I spent a good while yesterday cutting back some large shrubs at the back of the garden. The garden waste bin is full and I’ve started to fill one of those big building materials bags. It looks tidier, but I need to tackle the ivy growing everywhere.
I’m looking after DD1’s dog today and collecting DGD from after school club. Not sure what time DD1 & her DH will be home from work, may have to drive home in the dark!
llfl enjoy your outing today!
Hope today is kind to everyone.

Gingster Thu 12-Sept-24 07:08:13

Good morning and it’s bright, breezy and chilly here on the Suffolk coast. Yesterday was so windy and sitting in the summerhouse was quite scary. We’ve already had one blow away! 🫣. This one is stronger and bolted down, but even so …..

Good luck with yours today RoseandLilac. Sorry you can’t get a chiropractor appointment. Take it easy. Hot baths and rest up. You’ve done a lot of heavy lifting recently. How about a massage?

GG hope you had a better sleep last night 🤞.

We went along to the bar b q along the beach from us last evening and it was so cold we all sat inside this beautiful old stately house. It’s now a Christian conference hall still owned by the Ogilvy family, who owned most of the area , way back.

The food was plentiful and delicious , we were urged to take home ‘doggy bags’ and the rest of the leftovers would go to good causes and wouldn’t be wasted. There were about 60 people there and they must have catered for at least double that.

Hopefully our plumber is coming today. Booked in for yesterday but his van was being repaired (AGAIN)! He needs to replace the flush on the wc and also there’s a weird smell coming from the washbasin in our bedroom.! 👃

I’m going for coffee to our ‘old’ neighbours house. She bought and moved in to my sister in laws bungalow , after SIL died 2/ years ago. It will be strange going there and not seeing my SIL. 😥.

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day. 🍁🍂

Grammaretto Thu 12-Sept-24 07:07:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Quiet outside and dry.

I enjoyed the Glesca Grans meet up yesterday. Lots of laughter and good chats. Nice to meet 2 new girls too. Thanks Marydoll for arranging it and there's to be another in December when hopefully even more will make it. I'm glad you are back to health today GMB. Take it easy.

That's definitely not right gMattie. I wonder what they were thinking of. Can you find another optician?

Your theatre is very popular Ash. It does sound fun.

I hope all the holiday makers are having a great time.

karmalady Thu 12-Sept-24 07:04:44

Good morning from chilly s somerset, rain expected later but sky should be bright

I am going to put my electric blanket on my bed and change to my winter duvet. I think being cool in the night is waking me up, it was 3 degrees out last night.

I was very busy all day yesterday but included a hill walk and later a short walk into town to buy some more molasses for parkin. I unpicked the bodice of a dress I am making, It had the 5/8 seam but I decided I needed 3/8, to make it less snug. Took a while to unpick and re-do it all, even the sleeves. I also did lots of fabric washing, which dried very quickly in the wind. It suddenly poured down, I scrambled to get it all inside, it had to go on airers and the banister overnight

Today my aim is to get that dress together, so I can at least try it on, I am keeping fingers crossed because that sale fabric is so nice. I am not planning anything else

Have a good day

Georgesgran Thu 12-Sept-24 07:03:29

Good morning from Cyprus. The second part of our week here. We’ve done very little to report about, but getting the bus to Coral Bay today.
Best wishes to all. X

Mizuna Thu 12-Sept-24 07:02:13

Good morning from Cornwall where a cheeky cold breeze is wafting across my bed from my slightly open window. My Dry Robe and patio are beckoning.

Heaved lots of brambles from my neighbour's patio yesterday up to the wild compost pile in my wood. Stripped completely bare of all things natural her patio makes my mine look like a jungle. Chalk and cheese we certainly are. 😁

Today I'm meeting a friend for coffee at our Pier café which has outside seating. She's one of the Street Pastors team, so our catch up will be interesting.

What a heart warming photo Ash: the thought of the teamwork that's resulted in two full houses. Lovely.
