Good morning from a chilly, dark Bristol. Wasn’t it cold yesterday morning, there may even have been a light frost. I wore a proper winter coat to get the paper.
I had a fairly busy day. DD came over to fill in forms for the Financial Ombudsman. Depressingly, I read that it can take up to two years to get anything back. Keep me in your thoughts.
DD told me that Iris had decided to enjoy school; it’s just PE that cause difficulties with her handicap ,and she is very, very tired with all the newness. I’m so pleased.
She had barely left that I rushed to the bus stop to meet a friend with whom I was going to an exhibition in Bristol proper. This textile artist had made 14 giant panels with illustrations of John’s book of Revelation. They are fantastic, not only the imagination and craft, but the use of colour, the echo’s of one thing in another panel. They are stunning! She is giving a talk next week, we’re going!
We had a sandwich in the adjacent art gallery cafe before returning to the free exhibition. More details and thoughts were found.
I would strongly recommend visiting if you are in the vicinity; even making a special trip. Pm me for details.
Quiet day today - church coffee and chat and pottering for the rest of the day. Might sit in the autumnal sunshine.
Sorry about novella 🙁
Enjoy your weekend one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, it is going to be a lovely sunny day today

A good day for me to do some cutting back and tidying in the garden, as well as some sewing

The sun makes all the difference

Have a good day

Good morning Mick from a dry but dark north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I’m about to trot off to the next town to pick up a newspaper - just the chamberpot to enjoy the use of first…☕️

Today is my dad’s 90th and my brothers and I have bullied (mostly me, actually, 🫢) him into a teensy weensy celebration dinner at his local tonight. He point blank refused a proper extended family party so a small do it is 🥂🍾

Will pop in later and read all your doings but a lovely weekend is wished for all x

RosesandLilac Sat 14-Sept-24 06:03:51

Good morning Mick and following friends, it’s dry and a chilly 5° here in south Glos.
Yesterday’s sunshine was lovely, I happily faffed around in the garden enjoying the mellow warmth. The runner bean plants were consigned to the compost bin, the little patio brushed and it’s looking tidy.
I started swopping over my summer and winter clothes - maybe that’ll be a bit premature? - and washed my lovely merino wool cardigans which dried beautifully on the line. They were washed before packing them away in the spring but I needed to wool wash something else so i popped them in to make up a load 🙄
Today I hope to move bits into the summerhouse 👏 and will get my living room back to normal, hallelujah! I can’t wait to get everything straightened out, I struggle to relax when there’s a muddle.
I also sorted out my yarn stash, there is a black bag of it for rehoming 😊, and another bag of sock yarn too.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend 🌹

Good morning from a calm and fine Torbay. It’s exceptionally quiet, too, as fewer people need to be out early for work or school.

I’m really pleased to hear that Iris has had a change of heart regarding her school, grandMattie, and I’m glad your summerhouse dream is about to come true, RosesandLilac.

Yesterday, I had prompt and friendly service from the taxi drivers who took me to and from the hospital's physio department. I’m now on the waiting list to attend a class there although the exercises described sound similar to what is offered at the Move It Or Lose It class I already attend.

Today we have a coffee morning at church then I’m back to the theatre this evening. I’ve signed up to be ticket distributor which is less onerous than being a steward. Tomorrow evening will be the final performance of The Unexpected Guest, an extra one in honour of it coinciding with (what was) Agatha Christie’s birthday.

Have a good weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. A sunny day forecast for a currently chilly corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed both volunteering and Tai chi yesterday. Todays plan is to mount a new attack on the climbing roses, the ladder will be out, Mr C will fuss in case I fall off. I won’t, well never have.

I’ll be doing the same clothes swap next week roses, should trigger guaranteed sunshine. Enjoy sorting your summerhouse in the sun today. Such a long while grandmattie, flowers. Hope your dad enjoys the celebrations pantglas, the plan sounds just right to me.

Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Susan56 Sat 14-Sept-24 06:37:04

Good morning from Shropshire.A warmer day forecast.

Like Roses we enjoyed the sunshine yesterday and got lots of tidying up done in the garden.

We are looking forward to a day with DD1 and the children today.

Ash, my DH went to a twice weekly class at the hospital for knee pain and found it very beneficial.I hope you do too.

grandMattie🙏🏻

Happy 90th to your dad Pantglas🍻

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks like autumn, but it really isn’t.

Yesterday, apart from driving into the next town to collect mine and OH’s prescription, the main event was lunch at our favourite restaurant. All I did afterwards was read ‘I want to get old before I die’ by David Hepworth. It’s about ageing rock stars.

I still have a pile of ironing with my name on and the airing cupboard needs a massive clear out.

Have a good day especially those with difficulties.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 14-Sept-24 06:58:25

Good morning from a clear skied Oxfordshire, very cold again today, hopefully it will turn out to be another sunny day as I have the garden to mow and tidy and some ivy to cut back before it climbs into the window.

We have the dog for a couple of days, so we will have a nice walk this morning.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a bright Cornwall, sun dreckly.

Precious time with my eldest son yesterday, all on his own. He works from home and his house was so quiet with the children at school. He's created a pond in their cul-de-sac garden and has a little shoal of sticklebacks that come to the surface when you look into the pond because they expect to be fed. 😁 Not elegant like koi carp or whatever but they're very cute.

Today I'm off to my overgrown allotment, wonder what I'll find... I know I'll have to hack my way to my shed. 😂 But first I'll go for coffee and cake in our community cabin. Haven't been for months so it's a treat and I'll see all the people I've been missing. The cakes are always home-made and delicious.

Good morning from Cyprus. Our last day here and a long one with a midnight flight home - to where ice has been scraped from windscreens and winter coats broken out!
Some upbeat comments, so far this morning.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a sunny but chilly South Downs. Just finished a short break in the New Forest, where the whole forest is on the cusp of leaf fall, with just a few leaves dotting the floor. The ponies are nicely plump to face the winter shortages, and the golden light picked up the rowan berries and the deep reds and purples of viburnum and wild service. Those trees who are new incomers turn to autumn colouring much quicker and brighter than our own native species with our beloved oak being one of the last to give into winter and finally lose its leaves, meanwhile it’s acorns will be snaffled by the pigs soon to be released to fatten up for winter.

It was a chilly few days, and I was grateful for my thick sweater, but oh so much peace to mend the soul that the trees give.

My own garden has slowed right down now, but the aster are just getting into their stride, ablaze with purples and pinks and blues. Time to begin to clear the detritus of summer.

Enjoy your autumn days folks

Peace and harmony

GrannySomerset Sat 14-Sept-24 07:18:38

A glorious golden morning and less chilly so a good start to the day. I will be in church much of today as this weekend we have an exhibition of wildlife photography and of course are offering hot drinks and cake. Hope we get a good turnout because the pictures are stunning and an enormous amount of work has gone into this.

Hope this better weather provides some joy for everyone whether indoors or out.

kittylester Sat 14-Sept-24 07:18:56

Good morning all from a bright and chilly North Leicestershire.

We had a lovely lunch and catch up with our old friends though mostly the talk was of medical matters.

Today, DH is going to the gym and I am off to the egg farm and Waitrose.

Oooh, the excitement.

Redcar Sat 14-Sept-24 07:21:02

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry, sunny and cold. Yesterday was a sunny day but it still felt chilly, hope today is a bit warmer as there’s a lot of work to be done in the garden. I can do quite a lot if I pace myself. Put a warmer duvet on the bed yesterday, but not yet the winter weight one.
The washing machine is on and I’ll be able to put the washing out to dry.
I need to clean the insides of the windows again, the sun is showing up the smears from my last attempt at cleaning them!
Good that Iris has decided to enjoy her new school grandm, I guess PE will always be difficult for her.
mizuna enjoy the cake and coffee and your visit to your allotment, I hope it’s not too much of a jungle for you to deal with.
Enjoy Saturday everyone.

Good morning from cool and dry South Lanarkshire.

I’m feeling groggy after a very broken night punctuated by coughing.
Yesterday I woke up with a stinker of a cold but had to be up and out before seven to get to DS’s for our regular childcare day. I do hope I haven’t shared it with them but it’s difficult to keep small children at a distance.

gM that exhibition sounds like something I would enjoy, is it something that’s likely to tour, do you think?
I’m so sorry for your ongoing troubles.

Happy 90th birthday to your dad Pantglass, enjoy the celebration.

Today will be fuelled by lemsip but all I have to do is pack for going away tomorrow for a few days and clean the bathrooms. DH will take the daft dug over to DD’s where she will do her best to avoid their young and very enthusiastic dog for the first day then they’ll both settle down.

Wishing everyone a good day.

luluaugust Sat 14-Sept-24 07:24:42

Good morning from a bright W Kent, at least the heating hasn’t come on this morning. I am taking today quietly as my back is really playing up, I can’t quite make up my mind whether to walk to get the paper, anyway no rush.
Best wishes

Gingster Sat 14-Sept-24 07:24:44

Good morning all and it’s bright back here in Essex. It’s nice to be back but will miss the sea.

Journey was good and only a slow stretch approaching the Orwell Bridge which didn’t really hold us up.

Today I’m going in a coach trip to Windsor Great Park with many old friends who Ive known since ‘pram club’ and ‘young wives group’. It’s a church outing so I will know the majority of the group.
Not sure what there is to do there, mainly walking and lunching but it should be fun, and the sun is going to shine 🌞.

Take care and enjoy the day.🌻🍁

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and damp. A big change from yesterday where the temperature briefly hit zero. Whitewave your post is beautiful and lyrical. Georgesgran safe journey home later. Susan enjoy your day with family. Ash I'm glad yesterday went smoothly. You are a very busy lady, despite your knee problems! Pantglas a very happy birthday to your dear Dad.
Yesterday I picked up dgs2 from playgroup. Apparently he had been really excited that I was getting him. He was eating his soup and his mummy arrived. Dgs2 was not happy. He wanted to stay. After he left, I got all my autumn bits and bobs out. I know it's early, but I like to acknowledge the change in season. Later dd popped in with dgs1 which was a nice surprise, quickly followed by my aunt and uncle who told us about their austrian holiday. They love to travel.
Today I'll go to Aldi and stock up the fridge. Dgs1 is coming for a sleepover and I have my instructions 😄. He wants chicken noodles for dinner and popcorn and hot chocolate after his bath. He's a very easy guest. Have a good day all.

Morning from a bright, cool S Hants. I’ll keep you in my thoughts gMattie 🤞
Safe journey home Georgesgran and a Happy Birthday to your Dad pantglas 🎂
Yesterday washing was done and surprisingly dried outside, token housework, Tesco delivery and a pleasant meet up in our local
Newspaper today, garden tidying, a walk and football to watch.

Gosh, so many people up early this morning!
Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine day ahead, so a load of washing is in the machine.

Had a very busy day yesterday, early breakfast, three dance classes between 10.30 and 1.15, then home where I brought the washing in, and then got ready to hop on the bus for my weekly visit to the shops.
Coffee and cake in the M&S cafe, and did my top-up shop. A mooch around Next and Sainsbury's clothes, where I bought one of those fleecy hoodie dressing gown things, don't know what the proper name is. Should keep me warm of a chilly evening or morning.
A pleasant evening spent watching the best of the Proms on BBC4.

Early lunch today then I am out to our local theatre to see the musical Pretty Woman which I have heard is very good.
Steak and baked potato for dinner tonight.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

Bellasnana Sat 14-Sept-24 07:37:57

Good morning from Malta where it is a much cooler 24°C, bliss!

Went to Mdina yesterday and bumped into some friends of over 40 years. It really made my day.

My friend enjoyed the outing, she’s very easy to please. Later DD1 came over bearing a large metal filing box and proceeded to organize all my paperwork for me. She said it would save her a job later as she thinks her siblings will leave it all to her when I pop off! 😂

Today we are going to join DD3 and the boys at the Bird Park. I haven’t been before and it will be an outing for my pal who is here until Thursday.

Happy 90th to your father Pantglas, hope he enjoys his mini celebration.

GM I do hope it won’t take that long for you to be reimbursed.🙏🏻

Get well soon baubles 💐

Enjoy your outing Gingster, it sounds as though you’ll have a lovely time and sunshine is an added bonus.

Must dash, still in bed and need to get a move on.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️
