Is Larry now Felis Catus non grata? ๐Ÿˆ

Apparently Larry the Cat has been labelled "a little sh*t" by new Scottish Secretary Ian Murray, who joked that Larry was "the most miserable animal youโ€™ll ever meet".

๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Now, I'm by no means a cat lover but I do have respect for cats and their judgement, so has Larry got the measure of Mr Murray already?
Who'll be first to go?

Husband met Larry recently and he was calm and friendly. I do not wish to be called Cat Lady since running a boarding cattery some while ago strange cats in the street follow me home. I tell them in my quiet voice to return home and they do. Very weird.

Larry is Prime Cat and the best of them all.

Having met Larry at Downing Street I can report he is a friendly, laid back cat ...unlike many of the characters who are politicians he has viewed from his blanket he had in the front window....

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I don't think the phrase 'personus non gratus' exists. I think persona is like agricola and nauta in that it takes a feminine form and 'grata' has to agree.

I am probably wrong as it is close on 60 years since Latin O'Level.

Oh thank you ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, persona non grata does apply to a person of any sex, but I perhaps shouldn't have coupled it with Felis Catus which is a masculine noun and applies to cats of either (or any) sex!

You are person grata on here!

Sorry Allira I didn't mean to upset anybody.sad
I won't post on this thread again.

I don't think you read my post properly, Indigo8

I said you were Persona Grata!

Persona grata is a Latin phrase that means a person who is acceptable or welcome, especially a diplomat who is accepted by the government of the country they are accredited to.

I think you are correct but it's a long time since I studied Latin too.

What does ''Felis Catus non grata?'' mean?

I LOVE cats and I think monstrous Murray is insanely jealous because lovely Larry gets attention for being a fluff god, who plays with mice instead of killing them, is happy to pose for photos with his fans and gives important interviews and statements, while Murray is himself a little s***!

What does ''Felis Catus non grata?'' mean?
an unacceptable or unwelcome cat.

As in Persona Non Grata which is an unacceptable or unwelcome person, persona applying to both male and female persons.

As Felis Catus is a male Latin noun, I should have remembered to change the grata to gratus.

Anyway, I expect persona can apply to cats as well as people as cats are often more intelligent and discerning than some people.grin

Hope that explains it smile

Careful , Larry .
You'll end up at the vets being euthanased .
It's probably the government's plan for pensioners .

Larry knows evil when he see's it. Poor kitty having to put up with that shower.

rocketstop Tue 17-Sept-24 12:17:11

I've heard on the hush hush that he is planning the downfall of the Government. It starts so innocently, laying across a stair in the dead of night causing a trip, releasing fleas into Parliament, a careless scratch using dirty claws.Oh yes he has them all in his sights !

AGAA4 Tue 17-Sept-24 11:35:43

Murray is worried as he knows Larry has a hotline to the media and is watching him closely. How else did the media find out about those parties.

Oops. Elementary mistake, I should know better!

Is Felix Persona Non Grata?

If you'd like to ask HQ to change it, I don't mind, GrammarGrandma.

What shall we call Ian Murray?

GrammarGrandma Mon 16-Sept-24 16:21:03

"Grata' is feminine, to go with "persona'', which also is grammatically speaking. It would have to be "Felis catus non gratus."

Indigo8 Mon 16-Sept-24 12:46:27

Larry probably thinks Mr Murray is a big shhhh you know what.grin
