Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its a dry start here in brackley at the moment.
My usual routine of bus trip to Bicester with a shop etc ,and maybe have a talk to someone I know.
Otherwise a quiet day indoors with TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dark Bristol. I saw a lovely nearly full moon rising last evening. I’m not sure if it’s waxing or waning.
I’ve been awake for over two hours. I get really fed up waking up so early; my problem isn’t getting to sleep but staying asleep…
The zappers weren’t working at Tesco yesterday so I had to go through the checkout as in “the old days”. Quite a bit of chatting went on. Interesting that some people were quite happy to, others’ faces shut when spoken to.
A WI meeting in the afternoon; the talk was by someone in a food club. We all brought some toiletries and/or period products, people were very generous.
I made mincemeat when I got home using about 9lb of fruit. Enough to last me about 5 years I think.
Today, I’ve got a dentist appointment to fix (I hope) my broken filling. Not having an NHS dentist is extremely expensive 🙁

Good morning from south Glos, it’s dry and clear-skied here so hopefully another lovely day.
I enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine yesterday afternoon with my knitting; I frogged the sock I was knitting and started again while listening to an Anthony Horowitz audiobook, very engrossing and enjoyable.
Two wandering dog walks in the sunshine were very pleasant, there are hedgerows full of berries but very few blackberries that look good enough to pick. The strings of Bryony berries were glowing beautifully in the sunshine, I must take a photo.
Today I have little planned, a quiet day

Puss Tue 17-Sept-24 06:07:19

Good morning everyone from Belfast apparently we are going to have another lovely day today.
Yesterday went to Home Bargains and Tesco a big day out for me!!!
DD went to doctor yesterday who then told her to go to A&E
Need less to say it was after 10pm before she came home. She has asthma.
Going to a funeral this morning very sad.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and dry. Puss I hope your daughter feels better today. GrandMattie I've never made mincemeat. I must try it.
Yesterday was a lovely day. Dgs2 was pretty well behaved and was proud of his sticker from playgroup for helping to tidy up. While he was there, I filled a couple of large pots with pansies for winter colour. We popped into his nursery before picking up dgs1 and the ladies were pleased to see him. He'll start there at Christmas time.
Today will be much like yesterday except no playgroup on a Tuesday. GrandMattie I don't stay asleep either and I'm awake often in the night. Last night was no exception, so I'll be tired later. Dd has made me bolognaise for dinner so that's sorted. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a fine, dry Torbay with sunshine promised.

I heard somewhere that a full moon is due on Thursday, grandMattie, so the moon must be waxing, I think. Good luck with the dentist.

I managed to do the exercises at Move It or Lose It but I had to sit down for some of them. The other ladies and the teacher are very kind and supportive. I am sure it has done me good because I slept really well last night. (sorry, grandMattie and Grandmabatty!)

I’m at Props this morning. Yesterday, the chairman of Toads received an email complimenting the cast of our recent play and the Front of House staff on Saturday evening for being “friendly and efficient “! I think it helps when we gel as a team and the patrons enjoy being part of the banter between us!

Have a good day and I hope the funeral has something to lift the sadness, Puss. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from Malta where it is going to be 27°C and a chance of thunderstorms later.

Took my friend for a drive yesterday and we stopped for a coffee. She enjoyed the views as I took her to some of our few unspoiled rural areas.

DD1 picked us up later and took us to the other side of the island for a very nice lunch.

Later DD’s 1 & 3 came over with the boys and stayed for a while, then came the tears as I had to hand over Bertie the dog and hug my beloved first-born before they left. They are currently making the long journey home via Rome and New York to DC.

Your poor daughter, Puss, asthma is a very frightening illness. DD3 also suffers from it and I’ve lost count of the trips to hospital although, thankfully, not so much recently. I hope your DD is feeling better.

This afternoon we are going for afternoon tea at a very nice restaurant with a beautiful garden in an old palace. This treat has been arranged by my friend’s son, so thoughtful of him.

Wishing everyone a good day and hugs for those who need one.☀️

Good morning from Cornwall where a sunny day is promised. My daughter is fast asleep in my other room. She hugged the breath out of me on the platform and marvelled at how fast, apparently, I can walk now. 😁 At Birmingham, where she changed trains, would you believe she bumped into a friend of hers who lives just up the road from me, so that helped shorten the journey.

Today I have no idea what we'll do; talk till our jaws ache probably. 😂

Greyduster Tue 17-Sept-24 07:01:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a blue sky South Yorkshire. The moon was huge last night when I was driving home from DDs. It was all I could do to keep my eyes on the road! I had a walk through one of our local parks yesterday which has the River Sheaf running through it. There was a sign saying that ‘electric fishing’ was going on. They were stunning the fish, measuring and weighing them and then releasing them. I had a word with one of the people who were doing it and she told me there was a good lot of healthy brown trout in there - some large ones - and the river water was clean and able to support them. It was Severn Trent, our water company, that were doing this. They are doing the same in all the city’s rivers. I feel slightly better about where the money for my water rates is going now! Volunteering at school this afternoon.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from s somerset, lovely sun again today

I have booked my annual boiler service. They said they are much more busy this year my appointment is next month. Anyway that is me done with winter preps. I even ordered my veg seeds and am sitting here watching the two young fluffy jackdaws, they visit me every day.

Third day of using my rice cooker to make my porridge, it is lovely to have a hot breakfast without doing much. Once my jumbo oats are finished, I will use steel-cut oats and won`t have to stand and stir

Cycling today, my road bike with skinny tyres but only until hedges are cut, when I use the bike with puncture-proof tyres. I also have to pull the rest of my beetroot, spread hm compost on the 1 sqm bed and will cover it for next year.

My new raspberries are being very productive and have come into their own just as the strawberries are slowing. The canes are all flopped so I have to get the lump hammer out today, I have 4 tall metal stakes and will put string across for support

Seems that my day will be full again

Have a good day

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 17-Sept-24 07:06:48

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I think a warm day is forecast.

My car has is MOT today. I fear it will fail. I haven’t had it serviced yet as I am hoping to get a new car soon. I need it MOTd as the tax is due at the end of the month…

I am meeting a bunch of friends after lunch. I will take them all a jar of honey each.

Have a good day.

Sar53 Tue 17-Sept-24 07:11:03

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast. I've had a dreadful night. I had my second shingles jab yesterday and the effects after about 4 hours were the same as when I had the first six months ago.
Headache, aching all over, nausea. Hopefully I will feel better today.
DGD2 spent Sunday evening in A&E after an asthma attack. She is now classed as having severe asthma, four hospital visits in the last few months.
This is her GCSE year, all very worrying.
Sorry to hear about your daughter Puss.
I have a lot to get through today, I hope I feel better soon.
I hope today is a good one for everyone xx

Whitewavemark2 Tue 17-Sept-24 07:22:28

Good morning from a glorious South Downs. I do so love these autumn days.

Planted my first lot of daffs yesterday. 6 whole months (if I’m still here) before I see them again. Only another 80 to go .

Hair appointment today and pop in to see how sister is doing. She seems to be coping well with her “infusions” and so far so good - no reaction. She has a further scan next week I think.

Monkfish and prawn stew for dinner - quick and easy.

Enjoy your day one and all

Peace and harmony.

kittylester Tue 17-Sept-24 07:28:32

Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire.

I have choir this morning and then a day of bits abd bobs.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Tue 17-Sept-24 07:29:52

Morning Mick, morning All. Another sunny day forecast for our corner of Somerset. So pleased.

Enjoyed being outside yesterday. Grocery delivery, a hair trim and some dust removal this morning then with luck another opportunity to be outside.

Sorry to read of asthma sufferers, it can be frightening.

Enjoy what you can of the day everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Grammaretto Tue 17-Sept-24 07:30:29

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I hope we have another sunny day like yesterday.
My new Helper arrived quite late, 9.30pm from Germany and I cooked her egg rice, which she claimed she had never eaten before!

I have the dentist this morning and someone is supposed to be collecting a bookshelf I am selling.

It's sad to read about the asthma attacks your family suffer, Sar and Puss A very frightening condition.

I hope everyone has a good day including those enjoying holidays in the sun.

grandMattie Tue 17-Sept-24 07:34:07

batty, I think I got the recipe for mincemeat from GN’s database. It is extremely easy, just a lot of chopping apples and I add grated carrots to lighten it as it can be very dense. If you can’t find it, pm me.

luluaugust Tue 17-Sept-24 07:35:49

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. For my jab done yesterday and now have an early appointment with the Paramedic about a lump on my finger. I have spoken to three pharmacists none of whom had any idea what it was so don’t hold out much hope.
Also had a bad night, is it to do with the moon?
Best wishes

Redcar Tue 17-Sept-24 07:37:45

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and 12 degrees according to the garden thermometer. Lovely to see the almost full moon last night, it was very bright.
Had a slightly longer walk yesterday, and had a chat to several friends I hadn’t seen for a while. Then cleaned the shower, not my favourite task as the bending makes my back ache. Waited in all afternoon for someone to come and collect an item that DD2 had advertised on the local freecycle website. They didn’t turn up, which was frustrating. DD1 will either readvertise it where she lives, or give it to charity. Today I’ll go for a walk then finish cleaning the shower room. This afternoon I’ll visit my friend with dementia.
Have a good day everyone, enjoy your afternoon tea bellasnana. mizuna have a great time with your daughter. Special thoughts for those with worries about poorly relatives.

Gingster Tue 17-Sept-24 07:37:50

Good morning all.

Sorry to hear about DD’s /dgd’s with asthma. It’s a nasty condition to have and very scary. I hope they feel better now.
Sar I hope those after effects wear off quickly.

Have a lovely time with your Dd, Mizuna. She is a very brave lady.

Yesterday did a lot of housework, made a pie, did the ironing and generally sorted the garden tubs. Dh was out fishing so I was able to just get stuck in.

Today I’ll shop and then off to bridge club. On the way, I’ll stop at a garden centre for pansies.

Enjoy the day 🍁🌻

monk08 Tue 17-Sept-24 07:43:49

Good morning all from a lovely sunny Black country.
Will take a walk around the arboretum after a trip to the garden centre deli, tea and cake will be taken at sometime.
Mizuna glad your daughter arrived safe enjoy your time together.
Have a good day everyone and enjoy the sunshine ☀️.

brook2704 Tue 17-Sept-24 07:45:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and sunny and a warm day up to 21° is forecast 😎
Sorry to hear about the asthma Puss and Sar53 and others suffering too
I’m doing an aerobics class this morning, it’s another effort to start getting back into a gym routine, so hopefully I’ll enjoy that. Later this afternoon I’m meeting up with a group of pals for coffee at a local garden centre. Fingers crossed we’ll all be able to sit outside in the sunshine
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever today brings 💐

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Sept-24 07:46:19

Morning everyone, another mild sunny day here.

The Imp will be here just after 8.30am, probably go to the park. It’s swimming afternoon (always stressful) the 9yr old is doing really well, The Imp not so. He loves being under the water, not so much above it 🤣🤣🤣

Thinking of Puss and Sar53 with their asthmatic relatives. I have been asthma all my life, it’s difficult at times but medicine has improved tenfold since I was a child. Sar my O level year was the first time I was admitted to hospital, apparently it is not unusual, underlying stress l, hope she is up and running soon 🤞

Enjoy time with your DD Mizuna

🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another beautiful day is forecast, so I have just put another load of washing on. Yesterday's dried beautifully.

I took advantage of the fine weather yesterday by cutting the front grass, and then got the shears and trimmed the hedge on my drive; was lovely in the sunshine. My next door neighbour had said he would deal with the hedge, but after months of waiting it had become so messy I did it myself.... I don't have a powered hedge trimmer as I don't trust myself with one - I would probably cut my hand off or something!

A morning of pottering, then an early lunch and out to our well-being walk. Afterwards coffee and home-made cake!

I saw a really good film on Sunday, 'Lee' - about the American photographer Lee Miller's experiences as a war photographer and reporter behind the front lines after D Day 1944/45. It was a most excellent film, very moving and Kate Winslet starred as Lee, looking uncannily like her. It was a very moving film and I thoroughly recommend it.

Hope all can enjoy the lovely September 🌞 today.

Grandmabatty Tue 17-Sept-24 07:54:12

Thank you Mattie. I'll wait a week or two as I'm out of jars at the moment. I've just picked up the boys and the low sun, although lovely, made driving difficult.
