Good morning from sunny Suffolk where we are promised temperatures in the 20s. My appointment with the hygienist yesterday was less uncomfortable than last time, thankfully. She said that,as from January, she is increasing the appointment times( and therefore the cost) from 20 to 30 minutes.

When I asked what else she would be doing, she said she would just have more time to do the same ‘ more slowly and carefully’!

Since my dentist sold his practice to the conglomerate ‘ My dentist’ prices seem to have rocketed and what was done as part of a routine check up now needs a separate appointment and payment. She suggested I went to see her every 3 months. I said 6 months would suit me. Moan over.

I have a pedicure this morning and then meeting a dear friend for lunch. We were colleagues for over 25 years and have known one another’s families since that time.

Sorry to read about worries and illnesses and hope that things look better today.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I have been away in Nottingham for a long weekend and minus the internet, which was a bit painful! As usual, I will be claiming a refund for a delayed rail journey, once again I have seen rather more of Preston station than I'd like!

Today will be catch up with laundry and housework. I like to be active which isn't happening in someone else's home.
My hearing aids have ceased functioning so I'll have to send them back to the Audiology department so that will get me out for a walk to the postbox. I'd also like to make a start on planting my large crocus order out in the lawn. The ones I already have looked beautiful this year.

I wonder if a meditation app would help with the stress that could aggravate/trigger an asthma attack?

Have a good day if possible everyone.

Good morning all from a bright Glasgow, where it is 13°C. I too woke very early to a beautiful red sky.

Yesterday was glorious, but I couldn't enjoy it, because I had to wait for my GP telephone consultation, which happened at 5pm!
Initially my heart sank, when the GP asked what he could do for me. I reminded him of his request for a chest xray after months ago ( he hadn't read my notes) and the fact that he had not contacted me as promised.
After a lengthy discussion, where I very calmly stated that my COPD was deteriorating, he asked if I would like to be referred to the local hospital or see the excellent cystic fibrosis consultant, I had seen when I had to retire on ill health. R.A and COPD are not good bed partners. The good news was that there was no evidence of pulmonary fibrosis, which is terminal.
I could have wept with relief.

My children are all asthmatic, I have Brittle Asthma. Thank goodness treatment has improved greatly over the years. Newly married, I spent six weeks in ICU, after being first diagnosed.
It is distressing to see your loved ones suffering an attack.

I need to pick up a prescription to try and relieve the congestion in my chest and will make the five minute detour to Asda and TKMaxx. I haven't been for ages.

Safe journey to your DD Bella.

Enjoy your day folks, the sun has just come out here. For those who are struggling, 💐

Good morning all. My phone tells me it's a sunny day here and going to be 5° warmer than yesterday! Summer at last on the Angus coast 🌞 There was a glorious red sunset yesterday - Shepherd's Delight.
Grandmattie the moon is waxing and will be full on the 21st. It's said that a full moon, and the nights just prior to full, leads to a poor night's sleep .........
I am going to have to dash out soon - washing to hang out before I go to tai chi. It will be an 'interesting' class today as I've only had 3 hours' sleep 😴. I say such idiotic things when I'm tired - I once told a class of beginners to step back onto their right hand. Luckily they didn't try that move!!
Have a good day everyone and enjoy this glorious weather x

Good morning from Durham. A glorious day yesterday and it seems to be the same again today. That huge moon last night was amazing.
DGS1’s birthday meal went well - the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday to him and his gift from me was much appreciated - £70 worth of plastic tat, but that’s what he wanted.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning - back into my routine after my Cyprus break.
Some much needed housework later - I’m not keen!
Best wishes to all. X

Morning from a sunny S Hants, sunny, a frustrating day on the voluntary phone yesterday as access to our database was broken, fixed in the early evening. I need to finish my work today, tonight is our AGM.
Enjoy your tea Bellasnana and have a smashing day with your daughter Mizuna, I hope the asthmatics are recovered.

Another fine day in prospect and a chance to empty garden pots so that they are ready for spring planting though too early to plant tulips. Supermarket shop this morning, garden this afternoon looks like the plan for today. Yesterday had the electrician here from 8.30 till 5.30 with the power off intermittently, but a very good job done and I don’t need to wonder whether the next failure will put the whole house off. Just hope that is it for a long time!

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 17-Sept-24 08:37:20

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, I spent yesterday ‘Winterising’ the garden, putting away some things that would be damaged in the frosts.

Annual health review lunch time at the Surgery, then off to buy some Spring bulbs.

MzOops is up from Cornwall, she is back packing around Europe until December, I will fret until she gets back home, but today she is visiting her ex MIL who has had her Cataract on her other eye removed, that also went disastrously wrong and she is now unlikely to be able to see at all, her first Cataract op went wrong and she is blind in that eye, I’m so sorry for her and surprised she was offered another op, poor lady, they said that it was unlikely that another op would go wrong.

Anyway, hope it stays sunny and that everyone has as good a day as they can.

Good morning all from cloudy Wiltshire. BBC weather app is telling porkies as it’s showing ☀️all day. We are meeting the other GPs and her brother and wife at Whitehalls garden centre before they return to the U.S, following DD2’s wedding.

DGS was in great form yesterday. A very different boy to the one I got last week. Tonight we are going to see Big Big Train who are getting quite well known following an American tour. They are 2 English, 1 American, 1 Italian, 1 Swede and 1 Norweigian.

Marydoll I too caught Hand, foot and mouth from DGS last year and remember the vey sore mouth. Very common in childhood. I didn’t catch it from his mother when she had it as a toddler though.

Have a good day all.

Marydoll Tue 17-Sept-24 08:49:50

Glammagran, I never caught anything from my children, but my grandchildren are very generous! 🤣

harrigran Tue 17-Sept-24 08:50:40

Good morning from a sunny NE.
I spent 2.5 hours at the hospital for my appointment yesterday, ECG was at one end of the hospital and the cardiology department was at the other end. The nurse took me in a wheelchair because it would take me too long to walk it.
The doctor asked me what I wanted him to do for me 🙄, what do I know he is the cardiologist?
After examination and discussion he suggested a heart scan which has a waiting list, ten months at present. I then had to find my way to x-ray where the radiographer told me to strip off and take my nickers off, I couldn't understand why then she pointed to my neck and I realised I had a necklace on. English was clearly not her first language.
I had to collect medication from the pharmacy which was right back to where I started the afternoon. Thank goodness for my SIL who stayed with me and acted as a second pair of ears.
I was tired when I got home.
Today will be a quiet one, expecting a delivery for SIL and the rest of the day will be spent with my book.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from Es Caña. It’s sunny but with white cloud, bit windy too. Think I’ll jump into a soft cotton dress and sandals instead of sliders then see what’s what after a later breakfast. Might jump on the bus from the square round the corner to Santa Eulalia. Or not. “I used to be indecisive but now I’m not sure”. 😁 I will let Himself decide …

aggie Tue 17-Sept-24 09:36:56

Good morning from a , trying to be sunny , Co Armagh!
Lovely day yesterday, lots of garden tidying, loads of empty pots to the recycling centre
Milk less tea this morning ! How on earth did I not buy milk when shopping yesterday!
Our tap water is tasting mouldy, I ordered a filter jug , it arrived , but it didn’t cure the taste , the one my daughter lent me is so much better , so I’ve ordered one like that , I’ll keep hers , she can get the new one. Hers is just for the caravan , they get filtered water from the fridge freezer
Nothing planned for today
Thinking of our under the weather friends x

Morning from South Lanarkshire, it doesn’t matter when I get up I’m always late getting round to Gransnet and then I read so much that I can’t remember it all enough to comment!
I have noticed the several messages about asthma and I am so sorry for the sufferers, an attack must be so frightening and even more so if it’s your child/grandchild.

I am back on Granny duties this afternoon and need to get organised to go. The journey to Giffnock is a lot longer now I don’t drive and the multiple road works don’t help.

I enjoyed your nickers story harrigran, I could just see myself in that situation! Between increasing deafness and general ageing, life seems to be increasingly confusing.

Have a wonderful time with your daughter Mizuna and good wishes for the day to everyone. baubles I hope you’re well enough now to enjoy your break.

A very late good morning from me in sunny N Bucks.
I suppose this is the Indian Summer we were all hoping for - not monsoons and flooding though like poor Central Europe.
You will be bored to hear I have no plans whatsoever for today.grin
Maybe sort out some t shirts and linens to pack away? Maybe read my book club book The Country Girls- my choice so I’d better get down to it- or maybe forage around for a friend to have coffee with!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

hollysteers Tue 17-Sept-24 10:06:13

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Enjoyed my time in nearby sand dunes yesterday, walking to try to shake off this sciatica. Spent nearly three hours there. The old wooden bridge is is a state of disrepair, but it was nice to see all the dragonflies on the water. Met another couple walking and had a long chat.
Had a lie down in ‘my’ sand dune in the warm sun and listened to a Prom download.

Today to music club and still await an appointment for removal of abscessed tooth, apparently referred in July! Thank heavens it’s quiet at the moment.
Enjoy yourself Mizuna and thoughts to all with troubles.
A pic of my regular walk.

hollysteers Tue 17-Sept-24 10:07:38

hollysteers Tue 17-Sept-24 10:08:43
