Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet outside here in brackley at the moment .
Today will do my bus trip to Bicester as per usual ,I am also getting someone to look at putting a smart meter in , but I still prefer to take a weekly read and keep a formula as to usage .
May watch some cycling on TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from the sunny Island of Kos where we are two hours ahead of the UK.
We arrived yesterday afternoon after a very early start. A lovely hotel with our room overlooking the sea.
A lazy day today before we start doing a bit of exploring of the Island.
Enjoy your day everyone xx

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and dry. I have a smart meter Mick and have had no issues with it, although I knowMarydoll did have problems.
Yesterday was a nice day. Dd popped in with the boys and red velvet cake (and washing to dry). I made soup and bread and then stovies for dinner. I visited mum in the afternoon but she absolutely did not want company and pretended to sleep, so I didn't stay long.
Today is early childcare day. I'll be heading to dds soon. Then school drop off, Tesco for their magazines and Playgroup drop off and repeat in reverse order later. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Bristol. No idea what the weather is like but yesterday had very heavy rain all morning, then intermittent for the rest of the day.
Ive hardly slept and didn’t feel at all well (and still don’t) from lunchtime onwards. I suspect it’s the RSV vaccination I had on Saturday.
I tried making dinner in the new air fryer, but I seem to have been sent a bum machine. It fused everything every time I switched it on, even on different socket, even just plugged in! I ended up finishing cooking in the in the microwave,
Ive got a horrendously busy week again, but have now said I can’t go to toddler group anymore. It will give a bit of free time.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone, it’s very wet, chilly and dark here in south Glos.
We have a smart meter Mick, I was very reluctant but it’s out of sight so I don’t have to see the figures and I don’t miss having to send readings one bit!
Yesterday was a thoroughly lazy day after the usual chores. DH walked dog during the only dry bit in the whole day, I sat and read all afternoon and lit the log burner at tea time. All very cosy.
Yet more rain today, up to a month’s worth apparently, so apart from the dog walking I won’t be going out.
I need to pack for my painting break in Somerset, two nights away with no cooking, bliss 😊
I will finish swopping over my wardrobe for winter clothing, temperatures are set to plummet to 12 - 14° by the end of the week - I don’t know where the Indian summer went 😵‍💫
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from a drizzly Cornwall where a nice cool breeze is wafting across my bed. Lovely visit from smallest grandchildren and parents yesterday enabled my daughter to really enjoy the children. The six-year-old especially related to her. Here he is up to his usual antics plus that golden oldie pic from when he was two; he's still performing even when airborne. 😁

My son's guitar strings and tuning pegs are awaiting collection at the Post Office (yes, we still have one!) so I'll pop down the road at 9o'clock to collect, and spend the morning guitar-wrangling. My daughter is out with friends today.

Good morning from her dry but cloudy Torbay. Yesterday it rained for most of the morning but dried up in the afternoon.

My neighbour and I went across to church first thing and then I went to the theatre for a production meeting as I’m helping with a special cabaret evening which is being staged next month to raise money to tarmac our large car park. My job will be to check the right people are waiting in the wings for their moment of glory!

In the evening I went back to the theatre where I enjoyed a performance by a local amdram society of a play for two actors called Constellations which was very well done. It explored how our lives are influenced by decisions made but required the actors to repeat scenes but with slightly different outcomes. A challenging script to learn!

How disappointing about your air fryer, grandMattie. I hope the after effects of the vaccine soon dissipate and your air fryer can be replaced although that’s awkward when it’s a present.

I’m very happy with my smart meter, Mick as it relieves me of the burden of reading the meters myself!

A good week to you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Shropshire where it is still raining.

A successful day yesterday emptying and painting the large under the stairs cupboard.

My brother has been to see my mum and is now very concerned about her decline.I am relieved someone is listening to me but my hope she has just been playing me up has now gone.I have no idea where to go for advice/help.

Today I have a late hospital appointment so will just get a few household jobs done before I go.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Georgesgran Mon 23-Sept-24 06:49:48

Good morning from Durham - temperatures here are already down to single digits first thing.
Today’s forecast is for light rain - the first for weeks and the garden needs it.
Yesterday’s child minding was lovely. DGS2 had missed me and I was rewarded with unsolicited hugs and kisses.
Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee, then I’ll finish off DD2’s laundry, probably in the dryer - she’d sent 8 loads as she and I had both been away. At least I don’t have Little Dog to walk, as he went home yesterday.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from s somerset, a dreary dark and very wet day all day again today

My knitting is flying along, thank goodness for hobbies. More of the same today, knitting, bumbling, looking at my sewing. I am loving the warm smooth comfortable feel of my knitting, it counters the dark weather.

I might explore the old audible books that I have and may think about becoming a member again, not sure as I often prefer silence and thoughts. I will give it a test run later

Have a good day

Marydoll Mon 23-Sept-24 06:53:58

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

I am committed to doing something today, but would prefer to
stay in and do nothing.

Hope you feel better GM

Mick, there are a number of threads about smart meters, you may find them interesting.

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

Marydoll Mon 23-Sept-24 07:02:34

Susan, if Social Services are not involved, it may be time to ask for help from them. My mother's GP was very dismissive and my mother was a very difficult and angry woman.
I broke down in school one day, mentally and physically exhausted.. A colleague stood over me and insisted I phoned SS, they were so supportive.

You need to take care of yourself too 💐.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 23-Sept-24 07:05:08

Morning all from a very wet West Oxfordshire. I was first woken at 4 am by the sound of the rain on the conservatory roof.

Usual shop at Waitrose. Before that I will pop round to see some friends who are not well. I will take honey for them! In the meantime our cleaner is due. OH wants to visit his bees today but they can be rather moody when it’s wet.

Our daughter went back to London yesterday so all is quiet once more.

Have a good day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 23-Sept-24 07:05:20

Morning from a grey corner of Essex, we are forecast rain ☔️

The Imp starts full time school today, as does his cousin, on his fifth birthday (DS4’s youngest), where have the years gone?

I am free to go to the gym today and then I have a wardrobe to sort out!

Enjoy Kos, Sar53 send some sunshine our way please.

MaryDoll take things easy 🌸

Keep dry folks 🙋‍♀️

GrannyIvy Mon 23-Sept-24 07:07:48

Good morning from a wet Cambs. It looks like warmer clothes need to come out now summer seems to have been washed away.

Today the children arrive at 8 for breakfast and school have confirmed their doors will open next Monday thank goodness they are so ready to be back. We will do the usual today with some arty crafty things, a walk out if rain stops and sone games etc. Gym and dance classes late afternoon.
Not much hope of getting my holiday washing dry today but guessing I won’t be needing those clothes til next year now!
I’m sorry GM you are poorly and hope you feel better soon.
Wishing everyone a happy Monday💐

Bellasnana Mon 23-Sept-24 07:13:37

Good morning from Malta where it looks overcast but still hot.

So sorry you are feeling some ill effects from the vaccine, grandMattie. I do hope you will feel better soon.

Georgesgran isn’t it lovely when you get those cuddles! The best feeling in the world I think.🥰

The boys visited yesterday morning but brought their little dog who is an absolute pain in the proverbial! I wasn’t sorry when they departed as it gave me time to clear the trail of destruction before Mass.

I watched non-stop tennis for the rest of the day with a daft smile on my face! It was so entertaining. Did you watch, NanKate?

I was up early today in case I was needed to babysit as Twin 1 had a fever last night, but DD3 says he’s fine this morning so they have gone to nursery.

I have my nail appointment this morning, toes as well for the last time before winter covers them up for a few months!

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Greyduster Mon 23-Sept-24 07:15:57

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is currently bucketing down and the road is flooded. It rained all yesterday afternoon so I missed GS’s football match but they came afterwards for a meal which everyone enjoyed. DD was feeling under the weather, though, so they left earlier than usual. It looks like I shall be housebound today so I shall start looking at car insurance quotes. Oh joy!
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Mon 23-Sept-24 07:22:01

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a grey and misty start to the day
Hoping you feel a bit better soon grandmattie especially as you’ve a busy week ahead
We’ve got DGS here so it’s the school run first thing and then I’ve an eye clinic check up. After that a trip to the garden centre for a nice coffee and see if there’s any plant bargains for some winter colour
Difficult with your mum Susan56 hope you can get some help and support
Hoping today goes well for The Imp GG13 start of a new chapter!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Alexa tells me it’s 8* and overcast.

I slept till 7am, that’s unheard of. The first time I’ve slept through the night since my surgery two and a half years ago. I’m astounded.

DH is downstairs preparing the coffee, I can hear it bubbling.

I’ve no plans other than to do a bit of batch cooking and then I’ll carry on with crocheting the trefoils.

Have a good day everyone.

Redcar Mon 23-Sept-24 07:28:15

Good morning everyone from a grey and rainy mid Essex. Big puddles everywhere so it’s obviously been raining a while.
Had thought of going into town to do some shopping, but probably won’t go in the wet.
DD1 and family came yesterday for a short time, she took some of the large plates that I don’t use any more, so a bit more room in the sideboard.
I’ll have a look at my winter clothes today and a trying on session, I’m sure there are some things that can go either to charity or to the tip!
Have a good day everyone, try to stay dry!

Grammaretto Mon 23-Sept-24 07:31:41

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is dry so far.

My friend and her teenage son arrived yesterday and will stay until
their flooded kitchen has been restored. Her DH and the dog are camping at their place to watch over the workmen.
I had a lot of visitors and buyers to my open pottery studio at the weekend.
Today will be busy too. I am going to tackle attic clearance. I have a volunteer Helper here for another week.
Sorry you are below par gMattie
Pity about the airfryer too.
I've given away lots of gadgets. I'm back to my faithful gas hob, electric oven and microwave.
The breadmaker, juicer, big cake mixer, toastie maker have all gone, unmissed.

Enjoy your holiday Sar it sounds lovely.

Hope everyone has a good day.

luluaugust Mon 23-Sept-24 07:31:53

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Heavy rain overnight woke DH but as I am deaf I heard nothing. Cleaner coming this morning and I shall start packing for a few days away starting the end of the week.
Best wishes

kittylester Mon 23-Sept-24 07:31:59

Good morning all from a, currently, dry North Leicestershire. We have yet more rain in the forecast.

Yesterday I made soip and a sausage casserole and then felt so ill that I sat under a blanket for the rest of the day. DH had felt ill too. We are also putting it down to our RSV jabs, GM.

Today, I have to collect some trousers from M&S. I hope I can get out of the village and that there are no floods.

Gingster Mon 23-Sept-24 07:35:44

Good morning all and it’s wet here in Essex (I did put a curse on us, saying we have very little rain here).🙄.

I’ll be picking DGD up and taking her to school this morning as Dd has a hospital appointment at 10. 🙏.

Music and memories this afternoon will cheer us all up on a wet miserable Monday .

Hope you feel better GM, Marydoll and all others feeling under the weather (literally). 🙏

Have a lovely holiday Sar .

Take care and keep dry if you can .

Susan56 Mon 23-Sept-24 07:49:31

Thank you for the advice Marydoll.Social Services aren’t involved so will try finding contact details. Its such a sad situation💔
