Of course, this is perfectly normal for a millionaire to use cash from donations.

The tribalism and double standards in here are very amusing.

Imagine if this had been Rishi Sunak. Would you have supported him? No of course not. And neither would I.

I'm not so filled with this weird attitude that one's favoured political party is akin to supporting a football team.

Me neither.I’ll criticise them all quite happily.

A lot of kids are lucky to have a corner of the kitchen table to study while life goes on around them. Starker junior is very lucky to have a benefactor. Most kids don't have that.

We only had a very small house and I do remember I used one of the little tables from a nest of tables, was allowed to go in the front room with the fire and no television was allowed for anyone until I'd finished my homework.
In the summer I remember revising outside in the garden (it never seemed to rain in those days).

Oh you are so funny!

Can anyone remember the constant anti Tory debate on here?. It was endless. I criticised them as well
Please don't think I'm a Conservative voter.

Do look at the Guardian article which tells us Keir Starmer has had 100 grand of freebies. Even more than Boris!

No, I've already said that.

I can't remember it at all.
There are lots of threads, which I can't find, and the one about boris' wedding is nowhere near as scathing as the Starmer ones.

Look at the Brexit and Covid threads…

I've just looked back and the endless threads criticising Johnson et al referred to Tory sleaze.

Freebies sounds rather a mild criticism in comparison.

Bring back the days of Michael Foot and even Jeremy Corbyn in his tracksuit grin

We use sausages to make us smile for photos… sausages! grin

The idiot laughing his way through the queen's funeral made me really angry, as did Cummings going for a jaunt in his car "to test his eyesight".

Any criticism was justified - total and utter pi'' taking.

MissAdventure Wed 25-Sept-24 17:18:02

The covid threads would be well deserved, if they are scathing.
Because that was important enough for people to get angry about, involving life and death.

The word "sausages" just doesn't work for me as a source of anger.

Visgir1 Wed 25-Sept-24 17:17:34

That's a incredible amount for just swoting up his GCSE's, my DC just had their Bedrooms.

OK, so his Dad was on the campaign trail but didn't they have any close relatives who could have helped out?

Also why did he need that much help and solitude?

Harris27 Wed 25-Sept-24 17:16:45

Well this is food for thought. Yes I voted labour as I’m typically working class and proud. But disappointed like others about the withdrawal of the winter fuel payment I hope he can persuade me he’s going to do some good for the pensioners with the triple lock and in other areas. Time will tell.

The cost of the accommodation was estimated at £20,000 when declared. That makes it some gift.

Does he have gold taps in all the bathrooms? shock

In the UK GCSE’s ran from 9th May to the 19th of June.
The election was called on 22nd May.
Starmer junior had at the most 27 days until his exams ended.
It must have been very lovely accommodation.

I'm going to charging my visitors.
Now, what's the going rate?
😃

Actually, I do know people who rent their drives out but I don't think I'd get £20,000 for 6 weeks.

Oldbat1 Wed 25-Sept-24 16:48:15

Some really serious nit picking going on and over what exactly - a friend offering somewhere to stay for a short period? It was all declared unlike many many many Tory “freebies”. BJ had corrupt hand outs and is still expecting others to foot his lifestyle. This topic really sounds akin to GB News or the Sun or the Daily Mail reading fraternity.

Another day another wrong doing. The offer was declared what is all the fuss about. It's beginning to look as if some Grans spend their time fault finding.

Well more succinctly the press/media are fault finding and nitpicking in a way unseen.

Well if he farted it would be the wrong musical note to those that feel the need to put him down at every opportunity

If this had been Sunak I’d have thought it no big deal. And I think it’s no big deal now.

Why do you suppose everyone but you has double standards?

I'd have beautiful accommodation if I had the money.

It would be a bit daft living in squalor.

No, you should live in squalor if you are supporting the LP, and so should all LP MPs and the PM apparently!
